My best effort identifies this damselfly as a Powdered Dancer in blue form. Still with the morning's dew on its back, it rests upon the bloom of an American Water Willow. Water Willow is a perennial which commonly colonizes along the edges of Ozark streams and is a host to many dragonflies, damselflies, bees and butterflies. If you would like to see the colonization of water willow along a stream and discover some of an Ozark stream's beautiful and amazing inhabitants, above and below the water, I would be honored if you took a look at my latest blog post here: www.gmichaellewis.com/blog/2015/6/life-of-an-ozark-stream

Lots of migrant Savannah Sparrows are moving through the Fraser Valley at this season.

Dave and I did a little birding after Dave got off work. We pulled up alongside the corner of a corn field where a thick covering of what looked like ragweed was growing where the corn didn't take. The patch erupted with birds.

I got out of the driver's seat to get into the back seat on the right side passenger seat and got ready to do some photography while Dave 'pished' at the sparrows to bring them closer to our vehicular blind. There was probably upwards of two hundred Savannah Sparrows in this flock, one of the best I've encountered. When after about a half hour later, we decided to move on to another spot.

I got out to go back to the driver's seat, but before I got there this handsome specimen jumped up on the hardhack growing in the ditch on the left hand side of the road.

On February 11, 2023, at 11 am slt, we are going to celebrate a graduation show for the students of the Ayuda Virtual Modeling course. For several months they have studied modeling ethics, catwalk management, styling and posing, fashion research, Second Life photography and blogging. We have the Luxe Paris store as a sponsor, and Jho, who is going to win the second edition of the SL TOP MODEL Competition by Frolic Mills and the agency One and One Modeling Agency, participates as a guest model.

We ask for your assistance to support the efforts of our students and the support of Jho and Luxe Paris. Thank you!

Our efforts were rewarded when we hiked high up Sheep Mountain via the headwaters of the little creek running past our camp. The sheep were everywhere. This ram appears to be interested in me, but really he was just following the edible plants downslope, where I happened to be, cropping a mouthful here and a mouthful there.

Dall Sheep are sometimes called "thinhorn sheep"; you can see how their horns are thinner and more flared than those of the Bighorn Sheep found to the south. We spent a couple hours with a small band of rams, and then some ewes that were scattered in twos and threes across the tundra slopes. One of the highlights of that summer.

A western meadowlark adds some extra effort to boost its singing prowess. Based on the residue on the rock, this must be a favorite perch!

My wife and I just got back from an amazing trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was so wonderful to get out shooting and the critters did not disappoint as they were plentiful and willing subjects. Custer State Park has a wide variety of wildlife and is considered one of the top spots in the US for viewing this natural bounty.

Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

Sometimes you just have to make a little more effort to reach your goals

The smallest kingfisher in the Philippines at only 14cm long and rarely seen. They live in dense forest and this one was no different, sitting in a tangled mess of palms.I had to wait 40 minutes for it to return to this perch. Then I had to shoot through a narrow space in the leaves at high ISO. The effort was worth it though.

While waiting for the bigs assault on Keating I couldn't decide whether to use my drone or get a ground shot. Knowing that if I tried both it would probably be a disaster, so at the last minute I handed the controller to the one & only Justin Ross to work his magic while I concentrated on the ground shot which I almost screwed up anyways. So a special thanks goes out to Justin for this awesome shot that will never be repeated again!!!

Lilium de Santa Gemita - 112121-3

A Great Egret gathering branches for it's nest. It is truly fascinating to watch them do this. I'm amazed at what they accomplish.

For Smile on Saturday, taken almost a couple of years ago when I actually made an effort to get outside to capture a sunrise. This week I was hoping to be lazy and get a shot from the bedroom window, but no luck, it's been too grey when I have remembered to look out.

I feel so special. After all my fears and thrills from my Monarch efforts this summer, I'm thrilled again to have the Monarchs passing through my yard on their way to somewhere. They've been just kindof fluttering through, one at a time, circling, occasionally making a refueling stop. So here's today's visitor, a male (I got so smart studying up). You can just tell by the smudge on the underside of his wing (I marked it). It's much more obvious from the topside. I watched for a little over a half-hour and it was all boy(s) - not sure if it was the same guy or more than one, since I only saw them one at a time. I sure hope he gets where he's going. What a joy to be a part of this cycle.

If you check this large, you can see how the eye is spotted to match the rest of his outfit. I find that fascinating.

I dedicated my efforts to isolating the buildings amidst the tranquil ambiance, strategically harnessing the ethereal morning light to enhance their beauty.

Here is a vertorama of the Flint River as it bisects Richfield County Park, November 13, 2022. Richfield is Genesee County's first park, founded in 1935 and received WPA development efforts shortly thereafter. I took this from what was called the "highway bridge" built back then. It is a two-lane bridge with nice step-up sidewalks....for photos like this! Thank-you, WPA!

A male Belted Kingfisher sat overlooking the River Darwen at Roach Bridge, Lancashire. This very rare migrant from North America has been in the area for some weeks now and I finally made the effort to see it now that it has settled into one area. This constitutes the 8th record of Belted Kingfisher in the UK and my second following the legendary April Fool's Day bird of 2005

Fontburn Sink Hole, first effort at this photo here, will return in better conditions

A reportedly beautiful and remote beach at the end of a mile and a half rough hike - Not worth the effort involved when the ground is wet & soggy !

Well, the men seem to be having a bit of a chinwag whilst going about their nuptials here!! ;-)) Most definitely of no great merit technically speaking but it did make me smile! ;-))

Somewhere in the world it is tea time. However, this is the result of a still life effort using available window light with a reflector. This is actually very easy to do. The hard part is finding stuff in my house that will make a pretty picture display.

Another collaborative effort with my daughters' help. My younger daughter helped with the background and my older daughter gifted me these beautiful peppercorns.

I'm trying to get comfortable in working in color so expect more color intense images as I explore this area. I usually shy away from color as I find it challenging so how best to deal with it than in extremes?

My first published shot from my trip to Havana, part of an effort to put together a book by seven photographers called Cuba: Seven in 10 (details on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/1159643096/cuba-seven-in-10 ).

After the day started a bit cold (okay, rather frosty), he put in a lot of effort the rest of the day to make me feel comfortable here in Hamburg.

Twelve hours and what feels like a 20 km walk (and at least 50 photos) later, I'm back at the Landungsbrücken and thus ending my tour.

I am going back tomorrow. I give myself the sunrise. I have enough good pictures with me to allow myself to sleep in tomorrow morning.

First real efforts in splash from below water drop photography. Here's the pull back of what is involved.

While walking around 40 Acre Lake yesterday morning I heard some intense chip notes coming from the woods and decided to try to see what the source of the noise was. After several minutes of searching I finally spotted this Ovenbird walking around on the ground bobbing its tail up and down. It took a VERY long time to get an unobstructed photo but I was pretty happy that I invested the effort and time. Not exactly a bird you expect to encounter at the park in January!

I apologise if I do not get around to commenting on everyone. The internet is terrible where we are camping.

Psathyrella is a large genus of about 400 species, similar to the genera Coprinellus, Coprinopsis, Coprinus and Panaeolus, usually with a thin cap and white or yellowish white hollow stem.

The genus name Psathyrella is a diminutive form of Psathyra, derived from the Greek word meaning "friable", psathuros (ψαθυρος).

All Psathyrella species are unusually fragile, and both the cap and stem break with very little effort. Unlike most agarics, the caps of Psathyrella species easily break into triangular shaped pieces.
