i rendered this in maya today. it's quite an accidental thingy.. mental ray + caustics + global illumination rules.

I love shooting light trails, and the surreal effects you can get. This is the "FreakOut" ride at a local carnival.

Dark Matter Garden for the National Schools' Observatory

The Universe is dominated by as yet unidentified and mysterious constituents. Without dark matter there would be no planets, stars or galaxies and its presence is only known by its bending of light and vast gravitational effects. The National Schools’ Observatory: Dark Matter Garden, sponsored by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Liverpool John Moores University and Urbis Design, brings the mysteries of the Universe to Chelsea through innovative structures and planting and represents the effect of dark matter on light. A warped lattice of steel rods depicts the bending trajectory of light around massive objects in the universe, implying the presence of dark matter. The team comprises an eclectic mix of astronomers, horticulturalists, construction experts and interestingly is led by an architect.

Their last name is Brick and there are four of them!! Funny story though - when they bought the Jeep, the four consisted of Steve, Haviland, Mariana, and a ADHD boxer named Tapper. Got rid of Tapper and had Tierney. All is good.

You probably should view it on black.

With a touch of Topaz star effects

No special tricks here. Just some very cool effects with a toy bubble gun and a camera.

When you pull the trigger, bubbles shoot out of the front and colored lights within the gun illuminate them.

It didn't take us long to figure out how cool this was after dark.

All the black color is coal deposited onto a sandy beach. This was washed down many miles downstream from the mines. Transport spillage may be a major contributor to this unsightly ecological problem.
