..of John Harrison Surratt owner of the Surratt House, a tavern, polling place, post office, and reputed Confederate safehouse during the U.S. Civil war. Mr. Surratt died in 1862. It was actually his widow, Mary Surratt, that was implicated in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. She was the first woman to be executed by the United States government after being found guilty of conspiring with John Wilkes Booth. She was hanged based on the testimony of a tenant that said she had instructed him to have field glasses and guns ready to give to Booth and his accomplice David Herold.
"Ironically, at the time of her death, a case was pending before the Supreme Court, questioning the jurisdiction of military courts in cases involving civilians. In 1866, less than a year after Mary Surratt was hanged, the Supreme Court ruled that a military court had no jurisdiction in civilian cases, if the civil courts were open. When the assassination conspiracy trial was conducted by a military court in 1865, the civil courts in the District of Columbia were open. [Note: It should be clarified that the Court held open the question when dealing with the laws of war. Since Lincoln was assassinated while the Civil War was still going on, a military court might still have been justified.] Some historians believe that, had the Supreme Court ruling come a year earlier, Mary Surratt might never have been executed. "

I was just playing with a clever way to present my resume in After Effects so I thought I would share.
A possible sermon teaser sample video I created that could be used for a Christmas sermon or a series on the birth and life of Jesus.
Update: I only had two people to work with including myself and my fiance, otherwise I would of had a different person for each segment in the video. Work with what you got I guess.
I cut the video together with Premier Pro, and all of the text, gradient background, music, animations, and misc video effects were finished off in After Effects.

Some new toys arrived for a test drive yesterday! The blue box is what my wife is calling a Don Cornflower. It's a clone of the famed Klon Centaur but by fellow Flickr-ite thetonyballs .
I'd always wondered about Klon but didn't want to spend $300+ to try one out. It's a wonderful beast and I'm starting to fully understand what the hype is all about, this thing is pretty damn rich in harmonics. The brown pedal on the right is a custom tremolo tuned to go extra slow. It also has a volume knob that is capable of sonic boom level boosts! Hell's yeah.......
