Some fabulous conditions on Millstone Edge on Monday night.
Last Saturday Evening I met up with Andy and we went over to Baslow Edge with the hope of capturing some early flowering Bell heather, we arrived to a cloudy sky with the sun hidden from view but luckily we didn’t have to wait long before it dropped below the clouds spreading glorious warm light over the landscape with the added bonus of brightly colourful clumps of heather which we found nestled amongst the gritstone.(Olympus EM-1 mkii 7-14mm f/2.8 pro 1/125 f/6.3 @ 7mm Kase Wolverine 4 stop Reverse grad)
Curbar Edge is a gritstone moorland escarpment above the village of Curbar, in Derbyshire, England and close to the villages of Baslow, Calver, and Froggatt. It is located within the Peak District National Park at an altitude of 958 ft (292 m). It is regarded as a significant location for rock climbing, both regionally and nationally, in terms of both the historical development of the sport and as the location of first ascents.

This wasp had an injured wing and was not getting any height when it tried to fly. It made it’s way to the edge and sat there trying to fly with out any luck , until it finally let go of the edge and off it went with the wind.
Stable Edge on Christmas Day. Dark clouds clung to the tops of the moors all day, but the dale was bathed in sunlight.

cluster fly - Pollenia species
These overwinter in nooks and crannies especially inside the seal of vellux windows where they gather in groups and the sleepy flies fall out onto the floor if the window is opened. The larvae are parasites of earthworms.
