The incoming leg of the recent Great Britain XVI tour sees the Battle of Britain class Tangmere coming through Edge Hill Liverpool on Friday evening . One engine that until Friday I hadnt been able to capture .
Standing at 1765 ft, Back tor is the highest spot along Derwent edge from here we can see many of the unsual Gritstone tors which have been formed by the actions of wind rain and frost over many centuries. From left to right we can pick out The wheel stones, The cakes of bread, Dovestones tor and The salt cellar.

I thought I'd better get in on the action at Bamford Edge.
It wasn't as busy I thought it would be after seeing all the vans and cars at 5am. There were, however, two tents, right at the top of dry stone wall to the right of here. I didn't see them get up while I was there.
Sunset at White Edge Lodge on the Eastern Moors of the Peak District National Park. Formerly a cottage for the Duke of Rutland's gamekeeper the Lodge is now a National Trust holiday cottage.
I always love a walk on Derwent Edge to the Salt Cellar, especially with the heather at its peak of colour. There is a good variety of bird life to be seen if you are lucky , Stonechats, Grouse, Kestrels, Wheatear, Cuckoos, Golden Plover, Meadow Pipits. Also a good place to see the gorgeous Mountain Hare

Are you enjoying this snow? I went out this morning at 4am and wondered around by myself for a few hours chasing this snow storm. City felt deserted, besides the few passing cars I didn’t see anyone till the sun came out. River east felt like a good end of the productive morning! What do you think?

That's more like it. I'd gone from wanting more cloud to hoping there'd be just one, small window of opportunity. And there was.
Near High Neb at sunset. I'd been a couple of days before and noticed the heather was more advanced at this higher point.

A little light on Derwent Edge yesterday afternoon. It felt wintery. Mild but windy, drizzle and mostly cloudy. With a little bit of hazy light.
I finally adjusted my camera after this for daylight saving.

Another composition from yesterday's wonderful sunrise. On the highest point of the edge I was just above the line of fog.
Blackstone Edge
Blackstone Edge reservoir is on the border between Calderdale in West Yorkshire and Rochdale in Greater Manchester. It stands at just over 380 metres above sea level, on very few days of the year does it look as calm as this. There are many occasions when the weather is so bad, the wind blows the water over the wall I’m leaning on and across the road behind me. It is a popular area for walkers, with a choice of several routes around the reservoir and across the moors. Warm clothing and wet weather gear is advisable at most times of year.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

With my back to the sun I just managed to position my shadow away from the foreground rock.

A wonderful morning on Baslow Edge this morning. With another clear sky morning forecast, I woke and checked the weather again, switched my alarm off and rolled over. But I woke again and something told me to get up.
The mist really started to appear as the sun came up. There was so much, it blocked my view of Curbar Edge.
This composition isn't great with the rock dead centre, but I felt this frame captured the morning the best so I'm sharing this first.
Popping to Curbar afterwards, it was good to bump into Nick Butt and Steve Pellatt. I'm eagerly awaiting your photos to see what I missed.
The serrated edges of the front of a hydrangea leaf - one of the possibilities for the MM theme of leaf for 9/11. We didn’t have blooms this year but the leaves are pretty cool!!I think I took a gazillion shots- Context and size verification up a little later.
Btb, this leaf makes me think of dinosaur scales!!

Rock formation, eroded by weather on Curbar Edge.
Curbar Edge is a gritstone moorland escarpment above the village of Curbar, in Derbyshire, England and close to the villages of Baslow, Calver, and Froggatt. It is located within the Peak District National Park at an altitude of 958 ft.
Pete and Mike grabbing a few last shots after the sun had dipped behind Kinder and the sky took on a lovely afterglow with Dovestone Tor and Cakes of Bread further along the edge. The drone showing off the extent of the heather this year.
Mike posted one of his shots showing off the afterglow today.

Sunrise a couple of Fridays ago. Initially, there was a thin layer of mist across the moors looking back to Sheffield. But it built up as the sun rose on the wet landscape.
I don't find this area wasy to find compositions. But my main aim was to capture the heather.

I think this is my favourite image from that morning's shoot and the last image I took. Taken some time after sunrise, the sun starts to light up the trees below the edge.
With the woodland below, Froggatt Edge feels a little bit wilder than its neighbouring cliff edge to the south.
