In clear and succinct terms, Robbie O'Leary expressed his disappointment at the paucity of funding needed to sustain effective ICT initiatives at primary school level in Ireland.
The Clarion Hotel in Sligo, Ireland, is a very nice place of rest. It was the main conference venue for EdTech 2006.
Robbie O'Leary is a principal at a disadvantaged school in Tallaght. Some of his students pelted rocks at a Dublin Bus I was aboard several years ago--the kids have to entertain themselves with the double-decker shooting gallery that winds next to their estates. There is an option--fund their IT needs in schools and keep them in classrooms longer. That takes funding, something the Minister for Education must realise. That's a strong comment arising through the Internet for Education conference held in Tipperary Institute.
