San Jon is a village in Quay County, New Mexico, United States that was founded in 1902 and grew after the arrival of the railroad in 1904. It was once an important local commercial center and stop on U.S. Route 66 and home to numerous tourist-oriented businesses, such as gasoline service stations, cafes and motels. However, when Interstate 40 bypassed the village in 1981, the local economy went into a decline, leading most of those businesses to shut down.
I found this female beetle eating pollen while mating. At least he bought her dinner... ;)
Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (5x) + a diffused MT-24EX. This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.
Technique: I couldn't get a frame with both the male and the female's eyes in focus (they were too far apart and at an odd angle) so I cranked up the magnification and took a portrait. Always look for another composition if your first idea doesn't work.

Obi loves to play and chew on little butts of spring. It was the first "spring" weekend this year (15 Celcius). Obi and Vader have been out all day and have been sleeping for hours now. Well I did the same. Went jogging this morning and in the afternoon went for some rollerskating with me Ipod. I'm ready to eat some spring 2 :-)
