Ave migratoria aunque algunos ejemplares se han hecho residentes y se quedan todo el año en la Península Ibérica, aumentando su poblacion durante el periodo invernal con los ejemplares que bajan del resto de Europa huyendo del frio para pasar el invierno en mejor clima
Su habitat son los sotobosques, bosques viejos y leñosos, incluso parques y jardines y donde puedan encontrar huecos para su nidificación
Se alimentan de insectos y sus larvas, arañas, gusanos, bayas y frutos silvestres.
Son residentes habituales y abundantes en la Península Ibérica , incrementándose su población en los meses frios por los ejemplares que bajan del resto de Europa para invernar
Su habitat son toda clase de humedales, caños, canales, marismas, lagunas y embalses, siempre con vegetacón palustre
Se alimentan principalmente de algas, plantas de agua y de sus raíces, ranas, renacuajos, peces gusanos e insectos, incluso en la época de cría también depredan los nidos de otras aves para comerse sus pollos o huevos

The Eurasian spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia), or common spoonbill, is a wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family Threskiornithidae. The genus name Platalea is from Latin and means "broad", referring to the distinctive shape of the bill, and leucorodia is from Ancient Greek leukerodios "spoonbill", itself derived from leukos, "white" and erodios "heron". During my daily walk, I was testing how whistling works for Yellowhammers, and this Long-tailed Tit came over to check out the whistler.

With fog predictions from the Met office all weekend I decided to head down to the Peak District to capture some late autumnal images. Woodland isn’t really my bag but just lately I’ve been immersing myself in forests and sticking it out. The colours, even now, are still so vibrant in places and the fog yesterday helped with photographing this scene at Padley Gorge.
