17 days in, I finally have a SHIP! She noses in at 101 studs, and will remain unarmed. She does have advanced alien tech, including a worm-hole generator (trans-neon green orbs), that allows her to travel through time and dimension, as well as space. I'm imagining this vessel as the alien spaceship version of Doc's DeLorean: a highly modified invention of a mad scientist that has capabilities the manufacturer never intended. The exterior is getting close to finished, and then I'll work on the interior.
A ctenophore with long tentacles was documented not far off the bottom at Southernmost Cone within the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.
Because of the way that light is transmitted through the water column, red light does not reach ocean depths. This means that the red of deep-sea animals actually appears black and thus is less visible to predators and prey. The red stomach of this ctenophore gives it a sort of invisibility cloak – if the ctenophore eats something that is not transparent, having a red stomach helps hide its last meal.

This "little" guy was found on a research expedition to the Gulf of Mexico in 2006. Think of how different things were back then, just seven years ago. For one thing, most of us probably weren't on Facebook at this time in 2006...
Now try to imagine where we might be seven years from now, in 2020. Determining a path to get us where we need to be in terms of ocean exploration is the goal of the Ocean Exploration 2020 National Forum in July. Get ready!
L'aventureux Oddity de Zun, en mauvaise posture lors d'une de ses explorations! Dure dure la vie d'un cartographe XD
