I blew up a suitcase.

But that's probably not enough info.

Briefly - Tannerite is a legal binary explosive used in reactive targets for long-range shooters. When its two components are mixed, it is still stable, only detonating if struck by an object moving at 2,000fps or faster.

The charge in this video is a half-pound, the standard-sized charge. I had shot at over a dozen Tannerite targets prior to this shot, and while the explosions were loud, they weren't all that impressive. So when my neighbor gave me an old suitcase he was throwing out and I got the brilliant idea to put a Tannerite charge in there, I thought that, at best, it would simply tear a big ragged hole in the suitcase or something.

Had I actually taken a physics course in college, I probably would have had a better understanding about explosions and the expansion of gases and such. Hell - I even got CLOSER because I didn't think it'd be that bad. As you can see, this went way beyond a ragged hole in the suitcase - the whole damned thing blowed up, smacking me and my friend Jose with debris.

This was actually incredibly stupid and not something I'd repeat - at least not at such close range. We really could have gotten hurt.

That said - it's still funny as hell and I can't stop laughing about it.

it's official, this is NOT a table any longer and hereforth will be referred to as Expansion! 36 inch diameter, 30 pounds. will be rigged to spin.

My dear contacts and visitors!

I’ve read lots of comments, blog posts and forum topics about my photographs, whether I use photoshop or not, and should photoshop be used at all. It’s an honest question, but, as far as I’m concern, I had a goal to use photography as ‘prima materia’, a base, and through editing create a fusion of reality and vision.

I am not a photo reporter, so I don’t feel obligated to honour every detail. What I’m trying to achieve is to emphasize the whole potential of a shot, creating a sight that I'd like if existed.. And since it’s impossible in real life, I do it in virtual :) My work is maybe more similar to ‘photo-painting’ than photography.

Join me! After all, there is a reality of everything you imagine :) If you had recognised my work, than we share the same vision, and they are yours as much as they are mine!

It’s a harmless illusion – your personal, real life reality is only a click away... :) :) :)

Exceedingly tempted to remove this the moment I have uploaded it!

My first attempt at an expansion. I need more practise, because I am seeing more flaws the more I look!

The Mill began life as a cotton mill driven by water power through a 22ft diameter water wheel.

With the advent of bigger and better mills & machinery, cotton production became uncompetitive and so the mill was converted in 1810 to flax which was used for sails and sacking. Industrial expansion on the west coast and the ending of the Napoleonic wars brought the flax industry to its knees so the mill was converted once again in the 1820s to wool production.

Wool ceased to be a profitable commodity by the 1840s and production ceased.

The Mill, as a precursor to all of the late C20th industrial conversions, became a domestic property and some of the early Victorian wallpaper can still be seen.

By 1860 the Mill was once again converted – this time for use as a sawmill. The sawmill functioned until 1988 when it closed as a business. (gaylemill.org)

Wadi Rum (Arabic: وادي رم‎) also known as The Valley of the Moon (Arabic: وادي القمر‎) is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km (37 mi) to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan. Wadi Rum is Arabic for "Roman Valley", or "Valley of the Rûm", as the Greeks (or East Romans) were called in the early Byzantine era by Arab people, probably referring to Christian Byzantine monastic or ascetic communities in the area, for which they were also known as "monks of the desert", before the expansion of the Rashidun Caliphate.

This stunning image by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope features the spiral galaxy NGC 5643 in the constellation of Lupus (The Wolf). Looking this good isn’t easy; thirty different exposures, for a total of 9 hours observation time, together with the high resolution and clarity of Hubble, were needed to produce an image of such high level of detail and of beauty.

NGC 5643 is about 60 million light-years away from Earth and has been the host of a recent supernova event (not visible in this latest image). This supernova (2017cbv) was a specific type in which a white dwarf steals so much mass from a companion star that it becomes unstable and explodes. The explosion releases significant amounts of energy and lights up that part of the galaxy.

The observation was proposed by Adam Riess, who was awarded a Nobel Laureate in physics 2011 for his contributions to the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the Universe, alongside Saul Perlmutter and Brian Schmidt.

It's far from perfect, but I was amused by the idea :)

Day 200...is this real? The progress I've made since I started this project is truly astounding. I never believed I could grow so much in as little as six months.

I had a concept involving balloons planned for this. I went to Vons and asked for 12 rainbow balloons only to be informed there is a "nation wide helium shortage." Not sure if I believe this since there were THOUSANDS of balloons at pride.

This looked awesome in black in white too, but I'm a sucker for blue. I stepped on a dead jellyfish...ew. And yes, I did buy roses for myself.

I have to go take my picture for today before I lose the light. See ya later. :)

"I'm in a period of growth and expansion. I'm taking long, hard looks at the world and what's happening in it, analyzing and thinking. I'm trying to become acquainted with the universe -- with the part of it I occupy -- and trying to settle, for myself, what my relationship with it is. "

The general term ice age or, more precisely, glacial age denotes a geological period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in an expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth's past. Outside these periods, the Earth seems to have been ice-free even in high latitudes. There is evidence that greenhouse gas levels fell at the start of ice ages and rose during the retreat of the ice sheets, but it is difficult to establish cause and effect. Greenhouse gas levels may also have been affected by other factors which have been proposed as causes of ice ages, such as the movement of continents and vulcanism. Although the last glacial period ended more than 8,000 years ago, its effects can still be felt today. For example, the moving ice carved out landscape in Canada, Greenland, northern Eurasia and Antarctica. The erratic boulders, till, drumlins, eskers, fjords, kettle lakes, moraines, cirques, horns, etc., are typical features left behind by the glaciers. The Dutch IJsselmeer lake is covered with icerocks hummocks, caused by the cold weather of the passed days. At some places even higher than 6 meter!

Photo taken of hummocks at the IJsselmeer (Markermeer) near Uitdam. A hummock is a boss or rounded knoll of ice rising above the general level of an ice-field, Hummocky ice is caused by slow and unequal pressure in the main body of the packed ice, and by unequal structure and temperature at a later period. Blue ice occurs when snow falls on the ice. The blue color is actually created for the same reason that water is blue, that is, its slight absorption of red light due to an overtone of the infrared OH stretching mode of the water molecule.

Last weekend I went up to Boston to second shoot a wedding with Emily Tebbetts. We had a little hang out with some other photographers including the lovely Taylor McCormick. It was awesome to meet some new photographers and see old friends, talking about photography and art in the middle of the night outside of border cafe. It is ridiculous how the world can be scattered with so many people and somehow we have created a tool that brings like minded people together so that they can have lengthy talks on a saturday night in the middle of a random city about art and why they make it. My life is really great and I am so thankful that it is mine.

Expansion #2. Again, 2+ hours of editing, but it was worth it.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting good contrast in the sky without darkening my face. I actually added sky in some of the white parts. I'll be working on that a lot. In other news, it finally snowed :D I'm so excited.

Here's my newest fractal creation. I've titled this one "Infinite Expansion" as it resembles a Nautilus shell. The Nautilus is a sea creature that lives in ever expanding series of chambers that it builds for itself for each new phase of its life.

5 shot stitched photo from last night. Didn't turn out too bad for my first astro shoot in a long time. Crazy to think this universe is expanding at nearly the speed of light and we will never see the end of it...created from nothing and expanding in to nothing.
