1 Timothy 1:13-14 New International Version (NIV)

13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 5:8

New International Version

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

St Mary's sits next to the coastal salt marshes. Domesday Book mentions it and a substantial part of the existing church dates to those times - the 11th Century.

The nave pictured here was widened in a 15C makeover. The door leads to the south porch added then. The curtained archway leads into the bell tower. The pews are probably a 19th Century addition.

Externally, the flint tower's tapering base is probably Saxon and is topped by a cylindrical Norman construction suggesting that it was completed after the Norman Conquest. St Mary's great attraction is its quaint Medieval 'spirelet' of lead coated timber frame. Outside view of tower and 'spirelet'

New landmark in the Ruhr area: Since the laying of the foundation stone and around four years of construction, the extension of the Küppersmühle museum by Herzog & de Meuron has been completed.

The MKM extension combines industrial culture and contemporary museum architecture. As with the transformation of the historic Küppersmühle into a museum (1999), Herzog & de Meuront were inspired by the existing MKM and the architecture of the inner port.

Inside, a sequence of 36 bright and clearly structured collection rooms gives the art plenty of room to work. During the extension, the historic silos were also opened up and integrated into the building. Here, bridges are created on the 1st and 2nd floor, the connection between the new rooms and the already existing rooms. The silos themselves will be preserved as industrial monuments, both in terms of their external appearance and their largely original materiality. A planned platform on the silos, which will be accessible depending on the season and weather conditions, offers a wide view of the Ruhr area.

Works by artists from Anselm Kiefer to Gerhard Richter, a diverse exhibition program and striking architecture between industrial monument and white cube - welcome to the MKM Museum Küppersmühle für Moderne Kunst.

Duisburg's bustling inner harbor house is one of Germany's largest private museums (Ströher Collection) and belongs to the RuhrKunstMuseen network. Swiss star architects Herzog & de Meuron have transformed the former warehouse building with its listed brick facade into a modern cultural building that attracts architecture enthusiasts from all over the world.

Matthew 25:14

King James Version

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

The church of Las Salinas de Cabo de Gata is a Catholic Christian temple of the early twentieth century located in Las Salinas, between the neighborhoods of La Almadraba de Monteleva and Cabo de Gata, in the city of Almeria, Andalusia, Spain.

The salt farms of Las Salinas de Cabo de Gata, existing since Roman times, were alienated in 1872 by the state. In 1882 they were acquired by a French company; Later, Isabel Oliver and Cueto would buy them and then go to their heirs, the Acosta family by the name of Salineras de Acosta.

The new management of Isabel Oliver and the Acosta, which constituted the Salinas de Almería company in 1904, brought with it important benefits that resulted in urban equipment for saline workers, thus building the church in 1907.

For many years the building threatened the ruin. The last time Mass was celebrated in the church was on December 25, 2004 and, at least since 2007, the authorities promised its restoration. After various vicissitudes, a broad social movement always demanded the recovery of the temple. Both the bishopric, as the City of Almeria and the Junta de Andalucía committed themselves to it. In March 2011, the Church suffered several acts of vandalism, which is why the Bishopric and the Almería City Council reached an agreement for their rehabilitation. Finally, the restoration ended on September 23, 2012, resuming its liturgical activity, and currently the Church of Las Salinas is in good condition, it can be visited and in its enclosure we can find a tourist information point about the temple and the Park Natural of Cabo de Gata.

I know that the cracks in this asphalt appeared before the plants poked their green stems up to the sunlight. However, I do appreciate how small plants will appear through concrete sidewalks and asphalt. The roots of the plant will take advantage of existing microscopic cracks. New cell growth takes place at the tips of plant roots. As the root system grows and develops, these tips act as feelers, seeking out the path of least resistance for expansion.

Red Deer - Cervus elaphus

Double click image....

The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest deer species. The red deer inhabits most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Asia Minor, Iran, parts of western Asia, and central Asia. It also inhabits the Atlas Mountains region between Morocco and Tunisia in northwestern Africa, being the only species of deer to inhabit Africa. Red deer have been introduced to other areas, including Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Peru, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina. In many parts of the world, the meat (venison) from red deer is used as a food source.

The red deer is the fourth-largest deer species behind moose, elk and sambar deer. It is a ruminant, eating its food in two stages and having an even number of toes on each hoof, like camels, goats and cattle. European red deer have a relatively long tail compared to their Asian and North American relatives. Subtle differences in appearance are noted between the various subspecies of red deer, primarily in size and antlers, with the smallest being the Corsican red deer found on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia and the largest being the Caspian red deer (or maral) of Asia Minor and the Caucasus Region to the west of the Caspian Sea. The deer of central and western Europe vary greatly in size, with some of the largest deer found in the Carpathian Mountains in Central Europe.Western European red deer, historically, grew to large size given ample food supply (including people's crops), and descendants of introduced populations living in New Zealand and Argentina have grown quite large in both body and antler size. Large red deer stags, like the Caspian red deer or those of the Carpathian Mountains, may rival the wapiti in size. Female red deer are much smaller than their male counterparts.

The European red deer is found in southwestern Asia (Asia Minor and Caucasus regions), North Africa and Europe. The red deer is the largest non-domesticated land mammal still existing in Ireland. The Barbary stag (which resembles the western European red deer) is the only member of the deer family represented in Africa, with the population centred in the northwestern region of the continent in the Atlas Mountains. As of the mid-1990s, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria were the only African countries known to have red deer.

In the Netherlands, a large herd (ca. 3000 animals counted in late 2012) lives in the Oostvaarders Plassen, a nature reserve. Ireland has its own unique subspecies. In France the population is thriving, having multiplied fivefold in the last half-century, increasing from 30,000 in 1970 to approximately 160,000 in 2014. The deer has particularly expanded its footprint into forests at higher altitudes than before. In the UK, indigenous populations occur in Scotland, the Lake District, and the South West of England (principally on Exmoor). Not all of these are of entirely pure bloodlines, as some of these populations have been supplemented with deliberate releases of deer from parks, such as Warnham or Woburn Abbey, in an attempt to increase antler sizes and body weights. The University of Edinburgh found that, in Scotland, there has been extensive hybridisation with the closely related sika deer.

Several other populations have originated either with "carted" deer kept for stag hunts being left out at the end of the hunt, escapes from deer farms, or deliberate releases. Carted deer were kept by stag hunts with no wild red deer in the locality and were normally recaptured after the hunt and used again; although the hunts are called "stag hunts", the Norwich Staghounds only hunted hinds (female red deer), and in 1950, at least eight hinds (some of which may have been pregnant) were known to be at large near Kimberley and West Harling; they formed the basis of a new population based in Thetford Forest in Norfolk. Further substantial red deer herds originated from escapes or deliberate releases in the New Forest, the Peak District, Suffolk, Lancashire, Brecon Beacons, and North Yorkshire, as well as many other smaller populations scattered throughout England and Wales, and they are all generally increasing in numbers and range. A census of deer populations in 2007 and again in 2011 coordinated by the British Deer Society records the red deer as having continued to expand their range in England and Wales since 2000, with expansion most notable in the Midlands and East Anglia.

The first railway line in Gdańsk opened in 1852. Around 1867, in the area of today's main railway station (Główny) a small, temporary passenger terminal Danzig Hohes Tor (Gdańsk Brama Wyżynna) was built. Access to it was only from the west, from the so-called. "Promenade" (ul. 3 Maja). To the east of the station the city separated because of the modern fortifications and moat of Gdańsk. The station could begin to expand after filling up the old moat and demolishing the western bastions.

The existing station was built between 1894 and 1900, with the official opening on 30 October 1900. The station shares its design with Colmar station in Alsace, France, which was part of the German Empire at the time as well.

In 1945 the station was set on fire and was restored after World War II. The tower escaped the fire.

On 2 January 1952 the SKM Trojmiasto suburban railway was opened, parallel to the existing line between Gdańsk and Gdynia.

The station features five island platforms, of which three function for the regional commuter SKM services and the other two for long-distance services and regional services. Access to the platforms is via subways from the east and west sides of the city. On the east side, the subway ends on the other side of Podwale Grodzkie street, and on the west side, it goes directly into the PKS (long-distance bus) station. Connecting tunnels enable access to the station building and tram stops, and contain shops, fast food bars, newsagents, and other kiosks.

Glienicke Bridge was a legendary theatre during the Cold War. The USA and the Soviet Union exchanged spies here.

The most charming landscape in the already very green Berlin is located in the far south-west of the city - where Berlin and the Brandenburg capital of Potsdam meet. This is where the Glienicke Bridge is located. It connects Berlin and Potsdam and was a legendary theatre during the Cold War. The USA and the Soviet Union exchanged spies across the bridge. Today, the bridge is an unspectacular connection to Potsdam, but offers a beautiful view over the enchanting Havel landscape.

Mediterranean flair: Glienicke Palace

The Prussian rulers, who cultivated the banks of the Havel into a park around Klein-Glienicke Palace, recognised its picturesque quality. Just before the bridge, the first horticultural work by Peter Joseph Lenné (1816) can be admired on Königstraße. Prince Carl of Prussia had the existing buildings artistically remodelled and given a Mediterranean design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Ludwig Persius and Ferdinand v. Arnim in 1824-60. The lion fountain in front of the palace, modelled on the Villa Medici in Rome, is well worth seeing.

Mediterranes Flair: Schloss Glienicke

Nice Day for some Macro Flower's.

The Doe Creek School in Scotts Hill, TN was a one room school and church that opened on Sept. 25, 1870. It's Tennessee's oldest existing original one-room log school. It's been restored to look much as it did during that time.

I don't get to photograph something like this often, so I jumped at the chance. 3 photos combined in Lightroom HDR. A few adjustments made there then I took it into HDR Efex Pro for final touches. I accidentally left the tripod at home, so this had to be done handheld.

I apologize for being a bit absent from Flickr lately. I've been guilty of doing quite a bit of faving and running as I like to call it. The 9 hour work days are to blame. Then when I get home, there are things to take care of there. So a quick fave and run are sometimes all I have time for. I'm trying to keep up as best I can.
