New orange branding on Oregon’s West Coast Electric Highway stations means upgrades! All 44 EV charging stations on the highway will receive upgrades in 2022. The upgrades will add more charger types and update existing ones to serve a wider range of electric vehicles, according to EV Charging Solutions, owner/operator of the WCEH stations in Oregon.

Gov. Kate Brown helped ODOT celebrate completion of the crucial “Phase 1” upgrades to the West Coast Electric Highway in Oregon Tuesday with a news conference at an electric vehicle charging station near Interstate 5.

The governor was joined at the Woodburn Transit Facility by ODOT director Kris Strickler and Ian Vishnevsky, EVCS COO/CFO the company that administers the charging stations in Oregon.

The West Coast Electric Highway, a network of EV charging stations that stretch from British Columbia to southern California, has 44 stations in Oregon along Interstates 5 and 84, and U.S. 101.

There are 50,000 registered electric vehicles in Oregon and 2,000 charging stations. We were just given $7.7 million to develop fast charging stations along several major highways.

July 26, 2013 - (L-R) NREL intern Josh Crowley and NREL engineer Myungsoo Jun, run an experiment at the Vehicle Testing and Integration Facility (VTIF). The experiment is attempting to maximize solar power generation for the fast charging of an electric vehicle (Gray Nissan Leaf) from a solar PV source. The battery in the Ford Transit (white van) acts as a stationary battery, simulating the utility grid load and providing additional power or storing excess power as needed to fast charge the EV.
