The Empire Hotel in Bath, Somerset, England was built in 1901 and has been designated as a Grade II listed building. It was designed by the Bath City Architect Major Charles Edward Davis for the hotelier Alfred Holland and built from Bath Stone. The building occupies a large L-shaped block. It is six storeys high plus the octagonal corner tower. During World War II it was used by the Admiralty as a postal sorting office and remained in their possession until the 1990s. In 1996 it was then refurbished and became apartments and a restaurant.

one of my new favorites for a bite to eat... no 1 empire buffet. it's a bit of a ride from my house, but they have a much better selection that the places around here.
my favorite things on the buffet are things i've never seen down here: mustard greens, honeyed chicken, black pepper chicken with mushrooms. they also sometimes have sweet coconut chicken and steamed red bean buns (my FAAAAAAAAAAAVORITE). i was bummed this day because they didn't have any. :-(

Three big C&NW C628's are easing down to the LS&I connection near Empire Junction on October 18, 1986. The Alco era on the C&NW is near its end as the 4 axles were already retired as are a few of the 628's. By late December 1986 these three also will be replaced by SD50's and SD60's. 6701, 6727, 6706 roll empties toward Empire Mine. This is a rescan of a shot I posted a year or more ago. I didn't like how it came on then and decide to mess with it a little before I just put it on a thumb drive and gave up on it.
