Trieste is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. It is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of land lying between the Adriatic Sea and Italy's border with Slovenia, which lies almost immediately south and east of the city. Trieste is located at the head of the Gulf of Trieste and throughout history it has been influenced by its location at the crossroads of Germanic, Latin and Slavic cultures. In 2009, it had a population of about 205,000 and it is the capital of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trieste province.
Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy from 1382 until 1918. In the 19th century, it was the most important port of one of the Great Powers of Europe. As a prosperous seaport in the Mediterranean region, Trieste became the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague). In the fin-de-siecle period, it emerged as an important hub for literature and music. However, the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Trieste's union to Italy after World War I led to some decline of its "Mittel-European" cultural and commercial importance. Enjoying an economic revival during the 1930s and throughout the Cold War, Trieste was an important spot in the struggle between the Eastern and Western blocs. Today, the city is in one of the richest regions of Italy, and has been a great centre for shipping, through its port (Port of Trieste), shipbuilding and financial services.

Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City. I was happy to see that this iconic diner is back in business and has even expanded.
While the Flickr map shows this location as the Meatpacking District of NYC it is, more accurately, north of that area, in Chelsea.
In color this diner is actually black, white and chrome. Note the person seated outdoors for breakfast in mid-December.
Empire Sandy began serving the Great Lakes as a tall ship in 1982 based in Toronto, Canada. The 200-foot (61 m) long topsail schooner offers sailings for the public, chartered tours, including weddings and other events, on Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Licensed by Transport Canada to carry 275 passengers, she is Canada's largest topsail schooner. Visitors are usually welcome onboard during the day.
Empire Sandy is believed to be the last Empire ship built during WWII to be still sailing
A pair of Union Pacific EMD SD50s power a southbound taconite ore train over the Escanaba River Bridge at North Escanaba, Michigan, on January 18, 1997. This Pratt through truss bridge was built in 1892 by Lassig Bridge & Iron Works for Chicago & North Western on their ore line running from Partridge Junction to the ore dock located on Lake Michigan at Escanaba.
After Union Pacific merged Chicago & North Western, it only had the Upper Peninsula of Michigan ore line for a short time before Wisconsin Central, and later Canadian National, operated it. In late 1996 and early 1997, the trains were powered by former MoPac EMD SD50s, with a SD40-2 occasionally thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, this bridge was replaced in 2015, and with the closure of Empire Mine, Canadian National also closed the ore dock in Escanaba in 2017.

TGIF right? Still not 100% sure what to do for a weekend, but I certainly hope that we get to have fun like for the last one! This image was shot in Grand Haven, MI and the weather was amazing. What is more amazing was the sheer amount of people walking back and forth to the lighthouse! I decided to try my luck from the other side and I think it was right thing to do. What do you think?
Jasper is just a happy dog, sending out happy wishes on a sunny Monday morning. And while I'm not exactly glum, I'm not sure I share his enthusiasm for Monday, but his happy face definitely makes me happy.

DSC_8430-The Empire Sandy is a schooner from Canada seen here sailing in Rendez-vous 2017 in Quebec City.
The fifth image in this series of images I took in and around downtown Toronto. The tall ship Empire Sandy, which runs chartered tours along Toronto's waterfront was originally built as an Englishman/ Larch Deep Sea-class tugboat for war service by the British government in 1943. After the war she served a number of different roles under different names. In the early 1970s she was to be sold for scrap, but fortunately got a new lease on life when she was bought by a new owner who had her completely rebuilt and converted as a three-masted schooner in the style of the 1880s.

EL HOTEL.
- ¿Hotel ROYALE AMBREE.COM?
RUBENS AT THE PALACE SUITS ROYALE AMBREE BOUTIQUE, SPA.COM.
