A species I have been trying to photograph for years. Normally they don't stay still but this male posed for some images. Taken on Big Moor, Derbyshire this evening.
Pleased to get a flight shot.
It was great just watching this Dragonfly as well as trying to photograph it, I watched as it chased a Butterfly which only escaped by diving into the grass, another one didn't have the chance to as it was over the water and after a frantic aerial duel it just managed to evade it, great to watch!

It's rare to find this species perched but I noticed this individual settle in a small Birch sapling and managed to approach close enough to get an image before it flew off again. It's a shame that the background is a bit messy.
