In the Davis Mountains, Texas.
According to allaboutbirds.org this is the smallest raptor in the world, about the size of a juice box, or a robin. It was nesting in a dead yucca stalk, about 20-feet from a hot tub that I was enjoying. It's perching on a cable holding several bird feeders, seemingly unbothered by the humans near its nest.
Take the B8043 from Inversanda along to Lochaline via Kilmalieu. You'll be lucky if you see an elf at all. You better concentrate hard. You don't want to fall off the road down into the sea. And you most definitely don't want to break down. Help could take a long time coming. Even by my new home of Acharacle standards the landscape down towards Lochaline is intimidatingly empty and a little scary. Brilliant if you want to be alone.
Although you've been thrown into scenes in musicals since you were 3, this was your first real show. And though you fit right in with the rest of the North Pole elves, dancing your candy cane socks off and belting every word to Happy All the Time, there always seemed to be a make-up free trail cutting right down the center of your cherry blushed cheeks - reminding us all that even though you might be as tall as an 8 year old, you are only six -- the littlest elf of them all.

This is my elf from when I was a child and since I'm 50 it's an oldie. It has a brass bell on the tip of the pointed hat. The plaid is like a felt material. I had a trio, then two and now I can only find one. So I hope either they got misplaced and will turn up or I put them in another box that I haven't found. I cleaned a bit of the garage shelves of boxes. So I think I ruled out the other box theory.

But this time..my best friend (AKA Cindy) agreed yay!!ahah She actually liked it...
I joke a lot about her looking elf-like, i had to prove it.
And yeah this is how i keep myself busy, sadly.

Fortunately, she is a good elf and brought her plastic baggy for the "rein-doo."
(Yes, DH picked up the "Pooping Reindeer" as a joke for me...you feed it's head and it...well, has "accidents" of chocolate candy jelly bean "poo!" What next?)

As its getting close to Christmas all the usual preparations are being enacted and put in place.
The naughty list has been cross-referenced the special cases reviewed. the last gifts have been wrapped and the reindeer have been briefed on the routes around the night skies.
Risk assessments have been carried out and all Health and safety checks are underway. The chubby girls have been sent out to inspect chimneys, mince pies, and all alcoholic beverages the big guy might have to consume on his deliveries.
Looks like this one has eaten more than her fair share of mince pies

Merry Christmas, my friends! I apologize for a rushed video, but I couldn't let the day go by without a present, a story, for you. It's a story about an elf who fell from Santa's sled during the wee hours of Christmas morning and lands near a home that is empty. I guess the residents were visiting family for Christmas. The rest of the story .... well, you'll have to watch, of course!
My avatar is wearing a Catwa Catya Bento head and bento hands, too. I haven't had time to fully explore what they can do, yet. Soon, I hope, I'll have more time.
I miss you all. I'm having such a busy, intense year, but the good news is - it's the last year for me. I'll fill you in sometime soon. My daughters are home and it's a wonderful time, indeed!
