⚡ The Tejo Power Station, located in Lisbon’s Belém district, was a coal-fired thermoelectric plant that operated from 1909 to 1972, supplying electricity to the city and surrounding region. Today, it serves as the Electricity Museum (Museu da Eletricidade), showcasing original machinery and the evolution of energy in a striking example of early 20th-century industrial architecture.
A torrential rain period is about over now in Suriname. Because of this, the country had to open the floodgates of its main reservoir called Afobaka Dam that produces nearly all the electricity of the country. But opening the floodgates affect the level of the river and a lot of the neighboring constructions such as the Bergendal Resort in Brokopondo, Suriname.

A Escócia tem um número incrível de lagos, e na língua nativa eles dizem LOCH. Eles por estar em muitas alturas diferentes, acabam sendo usados (além do lazer e pesca) para gerar eletricidade pois estão todos interligados por um sistema de tubos, algo incrível. A Escócia não tem só destilarias de ótimos uísques, mas tem de tudo...
Escocia es un país único y lo que llamó mi atención ahí fue el increíble numero de lagos, que en lenguaje nativo llaman LOCH. Están todos interconectados por tuberías y son usados para generar energía eléctrica además de otras actividades de esparcimiento. Estos lagos son una belleza. Así que Escocia no es solamente buenisimos whiskies...
A noite de ontem foi marcada pela presença de inúmeros raios.

O percurso pedestre que leva à Lagoa da Meadinha, situada a cerca de 1000 metros de altitude no Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, atravessa áreas de matos e blocos graníticos, revelando habitats de espécies como o corço e o lobo-ibérico. Este trilho, que pode ser iniciado no Santuário da Senhora da Peneda ou na branda de Bouça dos Homens, apresenta um relevo acidentado com passagens sobre penedos e cursos de água, oferecendo vistas para a serra. A lagoa, também conhecida como Lagoa da Peneda, é um reservatório artificial que, no passado, forneceu eletricidade à aldeia da Peneda.
The footpath that leads to the Meadinha Lagoon, located at an altitude of around 1000 meters in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, crosses areas of scrubland and granite blocks, revealing habitats for species such as the roe deer and the Iberian wolf. This trail, which can be started at the Senhora da Peneda Sanctuary or at the Bouça dos Homens branda, has a rugged terrain with passages over cliffs and watercourses, offering views of the mountains. The lagoon, also known as Lagoa da Peneda, is an artificial reservoir that once supplied electricity to the village of Peneda.

Ayer por la tarde, la tormenta tropical Nate se hizo más intensa. Perdimos electricidad y teléfono, y hubo muchos deslizamientos e inundaciones por toda Costa Rica. En nuestra casa, no deslizamientos de tierra, sólo un muy lleno y ruidoso Río San Ramón! Todo el miércoles por la noche y todavía ahora. El más largo que ha estado lleno en los últimos 10 años!
Estas fotos de ninguna manera describen las inundaciones, la pérdida de vidas, las casas destruidas que ocurrieron en todo Costa Rica! Tuvimos mucha suerte!
Yesterday afternoon, Tropical Storm Nate became more intense. We lost electricity and phone, and there were many landslides and flooding all over Costa Rica. At our house, no landslides, only a very full and noisy Rio San Ramon! All of Wednesday night and still now. The longest it has been full in the last 10 years!
These photos in no way describe the flooding, loss of life, destroyed homes that occured all over Costa Rica! We were very lucky!
Ontem à tarde, a tempestade tropical Nate tornou-se mais intensa. Perdemos eletricidade e telefone, e houve muitos deslizamentos de terra e inundações em toda Costa Rica. Em nossa casa, sem deslizamentos de terra, apenas um Rio San Ramon muito cheio e ruidoso! Toda a quarta-feira à noite e ainda agora. O mais longo foi cheio nos últimos 10 anos!
Essas fotos, de forma alguma, descrevem as inundações, a perda de vidas, as casas destruídas que ocorreram em toda a Costa Rica! Tivemos muita sorte!
Hier après-midi, la tempête tropicale Nate est devenue plus intense. Nous avons perdu de l'électricité et du téléphone, et il y avait beaucoup de glissements de terrain et des inondations dans tout le Costa Rica. Dans notre maison, pas de glissements de terrain, seulement un très bruyant et bruyant Rio San Ramon! Tout le mercredi soir et encore maintenant. The Itaipu Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Paraná River located on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. The name "Itaipu" was taken from an isle that existed near the construction site. In the Guaraní language, Itaipu means "the sounding stone".
The dam is the largest operating hydroelectric facility in terms of annual energy generation, generating 98.3 TWh in 2012 and 98.6 TWh in 2013, while the annual energy generation of the Three Gorges Dam was 98.1 TWh in 2012 and 83.7 TWh in 2013. It is a binational undertaking run by Brazil and Paraguay at the Paraná River on the border section between the two countries, 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the Friendship Bridge. The installed generation capacity of the plant is 14 GW, with 20 generating units providing 700 MW each with a hydraulic design head of 118 m. In 2013 the plant generated a record 98.6 TWh, supplying approximately 75% of the electricity consumed by Paraguay and 17% of that consumed by Brazil.
Of the twenty generator units currently installed, ten generate at 50 Hz for Paraguay and ten generate at 60 Hz for Brazil. Since the output capacity of the Paraguayan generators far exceeds the load in Paraguay, most of their production is exported directly to the Brazilian side, from where two 600 kV HVDC lines, each approximately 800 km long, carry the majority of the energy to the São Paulo/Rio de Janeiro region where the terminal equipment converts the power to 60 Hz.
