I was very thrilled that this photo took first place in the NJ State Fair in the Animals-Color Division. It's a shot that holds special meaning to me since this is the very first family of bluebirds that nested on our property, in spring of 2016. In the photo, the male is feeding two of the five fledglings.
Eastern Bluebirds are a small North American migratory Thrush. These adorable birds are one of my very favorite species. I was very lucky to get this shot of a female against a brilliant blue sky. Photographed on Hilton Head Island, SC, USA

En ce qui me concerne, je n'avais pas encore eu l'occasion de voir un merlebleu avec un plumage aussi éclatant que celui-ci, surtout pas en hiver, période où il est censé nous avoir quitté.
As far as I'm concerned, I've never had the opportunity to see an eastern bluebird with such bright plumage as this one, especially not in winter, when it's supposed to have left us.

Best poser ever. Out front on the native Cabbage palm studying the feeders. Trying to figure out how to get up on them. Bad squirrel. Precious creature!

This Eastern Bluebird was taken April 24th at Ottawa Sands Park in Grand Haven. This park given a little time will be a great park to shoot birds.

I was out for a bike ride when I met up with another birder/photographer who told me where an owl was roosting. Went home and go the camera and found it sitting high in a tree.

The Eastern Screech-Owl is known to eat a variety of songbirds, including the European Starling. Despite this fact, the starling regularly displaces the owl from nesting sites and takes over the hole to raise its own brood.
I'm happy that I decided to put out mealworms for the bluebirds. I am now delivering 2 plates a day. And when it is empty, I get told to get with the program. The bonus is that I get some photos. win-win.

Thank you for taking a look at my images. It is greatly appreciated.
After the rain, the sun peeked out a little bit from the clouds. Then this little one popped up on large mossy rock in the woods. If you look closely you can see this Chippy had a couple of hitchhikers on its back.
There’s an Eastern Screech Owl nest at Green Cay but normally not any action until the evening, not my best time of day. However, a few weeks ago I got lucky, and the male was barely visible through the branches keeping an eye on the nest. I had to do a lot of cloning out the harsh light coming through but the light on Mr. Owl was nice. Good luck Dad, I’m waiting on the cigars when the little ones appear. Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) ~ Pinellas County, Florida
Such a treat to see this owl today. I have had very few opportunities to see this species, and this was also my first decent look.
Thanks for visiting!
