thinking of the ease the world out there is feeling, as we’ve all restrained ourselves for a while...

I was gazing at one of the dams next to the Schapenberg MTB trail in Sir Lowry's Pass Village and was struck by the realism (if that's the right word) of the embankment on one side and the abstract patterns of the water on the other.

The needle litter was full of these fungi - commonly known as Earth Stars

I flipped this guy again yesterday and the light was coming in at a low angle which I thought was pretty cool. So I just snapped a quick bird's eye view shot and gently covered him back up.

Earth teach me quiet ~ as the grasses are still with new light.

Earth teach me suffering ~ as old stones suffer with memory.

Earth teach me humility ~ as blossoms are humble with beginning.

Earth teach me caring ~ as mothers nurture their young.

Earth teach me courage ~ as the tree that stands alone.

Earth teach me limitation ~ as the ant that crawls on the ground.

Earth teach me freedom ~ as the eagle that soars in the sky.

Earth teach me acceptance ~ as the leaves that die each fall.

Earth teach me renewal ~ as the seed that rises in the spring.

Earth teach me to forget myself ~ as melted snow forgets its life.

Earth teach me to remember kindness ~ as dry fields weep with rain.

Happy Earth Day my friends! Let's all do our part! This is the most unique tree I've seen in a long time, it has many stories to tell... nature never fails to amaze!

Earth meets sky at Pyramid Point. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore near Glen Arbor, Michigan. One of my favorite places. Members of my family have been coming here for over 50 years. To say that is a very special place would be a monumental understatement.

...a small cloud of dust rises behind a crappy little scooter as it makes its way across the badlands...

A young orphan called Rey is making her way to the local dump of a town to sell or trade some of her animals...

Her modified "speeder" struggles across the terrain, jiggling Rey's bones...

"if only this thing could fly" grumbles Rey.

Let's just hope it doesn't break down...

Truro Anglican Cathedral (Cornwall). There are many ways of connecting Heaven and Earth.

“It was one of those happy days that God grants us sometimes on earth to give us an idea of the bliss of heaven.”

"We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do." - Barbara Ward.

About the Image: I didn't intend to photograph wildlife on this day, but the opportunity jumped out at me, literally. Walking through the mist before sunrise, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye moving through the vegetation and coming straight at me. It startled the hell out of me. As I jumped back, it stopped just a few feet away, and I realized that it was this baby fawn, most likely only a few weeks old. Perhaps being the first human it had ever encountered, it wasn't afraid of me in the least. In an effort to stay far enough away to not spread my scent on to him/her, I backed out and got into position to make this image with the longest lens I had on hand. It stuck around for several minutes before wandering down into the valley, out of sight. The thick fog never cleared in time to capture the image I had in mind, but it was definitely a memorable morning. **PSA - Fawns are born scent-free, which protects them from predators. The doe continues to keep her babies scent free by consuming her fawns urine and droppings. Leaving human scent on their body will attract predators and most likely result in the doe abandoning the fawn. DO NOT TOUCH them, and keep a safe distance if you see them out there.

I happen to stumble across this scene purely by chance, basically, I was meant to be somewhere completely different, so I guess someone was looking down on me when I found this, or when the scene found me, depending on how you look at it. Once again the wonderful west coast of Scotland provising a sublime sunset.

Earth Hour 2009

We turned our lights off from 8:30 to 9:30. We lit some candles and played some Mahjong.

What did you do during Earth Hour?

Aerial photos for Earth Day, taken from a Ryanair flight from Memmingen, Germany to Fes, Morocco, view of the sparley populated Mediterranean coast of northern Morocco, and the snowy Rif mountain peaks.

My favorite entrance to the London Natural History Museum is from Exhibition Road through Earth Hall and it is always a fun spot to take pictures! And while we were there we there we visited the amazing "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition.

In a moss covered forest of Oregon, a tree finds clever ways to continue its upward growth. Nature is resilient and tenacious and will recover long after we are gone from this planet. Let's seek out ways to coexist now and allow our natural world to flourish in our care. We need the earth far more than she needs us. Celebrate our precious natural resources on this Earth Day 2020.

Took this hitching a ride on the Lunar Reconaissance Rover in 2015. Thought it was amazing. Looks almost unspoilt by wretched humanity.

I asked the people at the Earth Day Climate Change Rally two things; their names, and their favorite things about Earth.

This is Amy Dauble and Evan Hoffman. They love polar bears, obviously. Separately, Amy loves water, and Evan loves "the living beauty of the world." They want to draw attention to the polar bear as a symbol and signal that "biodiversity is disappearing rapidly and it has an effect on us," Evan said.

The sun was shining today and the temperature was warm so Scott and I spent the afternoon outside raking the yard and getting rid of the winter debris.

The tree idea popped into my mind as we raked. It didn't turn out as well as I hoped but that's okay. We're not quite at spring so this will have to do for new growth while we wait for a garden to grow.

Happy Earth Day everyone!
