Couldn't think of a name for this image so I consulted with my 10 year old. who, after a couple of minutes of thought came up with suggestion of 'Earth' which I think may just work.

Earth Day

The personification of nature that focuses on the life-giving and nurturing aspects of nature by embodying it, in the form of the mother.

And what was the taste of us? Were we salty or sweet? Do we need a sauce applied to promote the appetite?

Possibly a Geoglossum species. Thanks for getting down here on the forest floor in NZ autumn / fall..

Earth Day for me was a walk in the woods with my Cairn Terrier, Digger. The two of us enjoying our earth, like we do every day. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

The human species is deeply ill. It won't be long. It was an aberrant experience. Soon the world will be returned to healthy intelligences, collective intelligences. Colonies and beehives.

"Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment

Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise

Now we must resolve to protect her

Show her our love throughout all time

With our gentle hand and touch

We make our home a newborn world

Now we must resolve to protect her

Show her our love throughout all time

With our gentle hand and touch

We make our home a newborn world"

The Grand Canyon is probably one of the most magnificent sight I've ever been to. I find difficult to traaduce the vastness of such immense landscape in one picture : it often looks "unfair" to the nature and the beauty of the place according to me.

Anyway, this is a handheld panorama of two shots manually stiched together. Why handheld? Because it was initially raining f'cking hard and I gave up on shooting from the rim, but the sun peaked out when I was in my car, about to leave, so I just ran toward the nearest point of view wth my camera and... Forgot the tripod. You tend to be a little too enthousiast and in a rush when you live accross the ocean and this might be your only opportunity of shooting a sunset over the Grand Canyon !

So here it is, hope you like it guys ! Feel free to like, coment or share the picture, it's always cool to have some feedbacks!

A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock formed by erosion. Hoodoos typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. They generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations.

This tunnel is all that remains of the Culsh earth house that once stood near Tarland. This was the underground cellar where goods were kept. We had to use head torches to light it as it was quite deep and very dark!!

Earth Star Fungi

Looking a bit the worse for wear.

I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Fumaria officinalis, common fumitory or earth smoke.

This plane was built with ores that came from the earth. Slowly the smelted metals are breaking down and being re-absorbed into Mother Earth. 73 years it has survived here, so far. The white shiny metals in the background are mostly as shiny, almost mirror like, as the day they were made, the rest is breaking down just like rusting is dissolving into grains as you can see bottom left of the picture.

There are parts big and small scattered over a large area. The remaining big chunks are the undercarriage and the engines. But there are sections of 'skin' metal I found hundreds of yards to the north. They might have been carried by souvenir hunters, and put down when they got fed up carrying them, but those I saw I suspected were blown there by the wild winds that I'm sure will frequently blast the top of Bleaklow. But if someone wants a challenge, see if you can identify what part of the aircraft this is. This might help you www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=ueBW5vp... But not much! PS. I don't have the answer!
