AERIS with its intended uasge: noisy kids. There should be full family of four there but all my proper-colored female heads are on minifigs piloting starfighters...

Altough the door mechanism kind of works, the model would be way more playable if there were no doors but the entire top piece could be detached. But as it is now there is some sort of... poseability.

It is also worth noting that kids make this look messy, which also applies to real-life cars when kids are applied to them.

Turned out to be surprisingly realistic apparently ;)

General Dynamics F-16AM J-201 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Luchtmachtdagen 2016 held at Leeuwarden.

Manufacturer: General Dynamics (Now Lockheed Martin)

Operator: USAD 412th Test Wing , Edwards AF Base

Type: X-62 VISTA ("Variable Stability In-flight Simulator Test Aircraft"). Originally designated NF-16D and X-62 as part of an upgrade to Skyborg, with SAC (System for Autonomous Control of simulation).

Event/ Location: Aerospace Valley Airshow/ Edwards AF Base

Comments: X-62 VISTA is an experimental aircraft, derived from the F-16 Fighting Falcon, which was modified as a joint venture between General Dynamics and Calspan for use by the United States Air Force (USAF). X-62A remains on the curriculum of the Air Force Test Pilot School as a practice aircraft for test pilots.

A sign of good build: when it just sort of comes out together in such a way that it looks good from all sides, including bottom.

This is why I shoot raw, shoot Nikon, and prefer the D750 and D810 over any other bodies.

This concertgoer was in the front row for Rihanna the other night, and I've never seen anyone so passionate. With only 30 seconds to shoot both the artist AND get a fan shot, I quickly turned around and snapped a frame of this guy and immediately had to turn back to shooting Rihanna. There was no time to change settings. Hell, there was barely time enough to cover the act I was there for!

Seriously, though. Those clean shadows and tamed highlights even when pushed +4.33 stops in post are just magic. People shouldn't pretend that accidents don't happen, or that we should "just be better photographers", or that we always have the time to prevent issues. There is a reason we use the tools we use. I didn't have a choice in my conditions, and I had to create the image.

Ask me anything about photography!

The first photo in my TPE project, this image was taken to emphasise the effect the frame has on an image. I settled on this subject and composition because it seemed like a simple approach to a subject I have never really consciously thought about previously.

In this image there are three distinct line directions, all of which interact with the frame edge; vertical from the bottom of the frame, diagonally top right corner to the centre, and the single line running from the lower half of the right edge to the top left corner. The first two line directions tend towards the center of the image which encourages the viewer's eye to linger on the image a second longer, while the 3rd diagonal line creates tension and the perception of depth.

This is a double-purpose photo.

1 - It lets me share the details of the pretty, brook-fed public watering trough, up the street from us, where the woods and pastures start.

2 - It poses a fluid dynamics question for any science and engineering types viewing this photo: Why does the little stream coming out of the pipe turn into a series of discrete drips on its way down to the trough? Please answer via a comment.

This was grabbed while SDO was doing an Eve Cruciform, which involves calibration maneuvers, "nodding SDO up, down, back, and forth to allow EVE to look at how the instrument is behaving." I actually hadn't seen that this was scheduled, so when I glanced at the data, as I often do, for a moment I wondered, quite simply, WTF?! ;) Some sort of calibration was an easy fast guess, but fun to witness nonetheless, and I downloaded a number of (at least I thought) cool images, again including this one. Anyway, SDO needs to "keep the instruments in excellent shape."

Thank you, as always, for stopping by, and again, Happy 2014. Prost.
