Wow.
It would be a safe guess to say that these belong to my dad, but I actually picked them up myself in Gloucester a couple of months ago.
This is a glamour shot of a first edition, 2nd printing of Mary Renault's The Praise Singer in hardcover with dustjacket, acquired at Caveat Emptor in Bloomington, Indiana. Slight fraying on the edges. Good or very good condition.

Man, was this book a chore! It didn't flow as easily as The Hobbitt or the trilogy. At first I only found the last few parts rewarding, as they dealt more immediately with characters I had come to know. In the aftermath, I have become more excited, having some insight on things not mentioned in the "original" books.
Hardback by choice, first American printing by sheer fortune. Dustjacket removed for travel.
finally got my 2007 photos in the blurb book. Ordered the large one this year, and while it looks nice (esp the full bleed pages) its a bit TOO big. Will go back to the 8 x 10 on next year.
But isnt the spine and dustjacket awesome??!
(fantastic cover shot by the luscious Charlotte Geary!)
