Dust Devils. Brilliant sunset and filtered dust kicked up from the arriving tram created a cool moody atmosphere last night just before heading home. Cool effect but kind of gritty dirty that I wasn't quite expecting....... ☺

having spent a good 3 minutes 'dusting' (or rather undusting) the right eye of this cat with a cloning tool, i decided there were better ways to spend my time and/or energy. ~grin~ like maybe i could remove the dust in reality and then repost the picture??
is that sort of like revisionist history??
have a wonderful wednesday, folks 💙
One of the main reasons for visiting Namibia is in the hope of seeing desert adapted animals, in particular Elephants.
We took a small plane up to the north of the Skeleton Coast to an area known as the Hoanib Valley. Considered one of the last true wilderness areas, Hoanib river is dry most of the time, but provides an oasis for wildlife in a very harsh environment. The flight was well worth doing to explore one of the most remote areas of the country, and one of the best places to look for desert adapted Elephants.
One our first morning we came across a small herd just as they were having a dust bath. They do this to help with thermoregulation, as well as providing sunscreen and removing parasites.
It hasn't rained in weeks at the time of this photo, so it's evident that all sorts of dust and debris is up in the air during this period of dry weather. The Empire Builder, meanwhile, departs Saint Paul, Minnesota passing Dayton's Bluff after ducking under Saint Paul's famous signal bridge adorned with searchlight signals.

Another shot from Nxai Pan, Botswana.
Taken just before sunset, September 2018.
"Nxai Pan National Park is a national park in north-eastern Botswana, consisting of Nxai Pan, which is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats. Nxai Pan National Park lies just north of the Maun-Nata main road and adjoins Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on its northern border. The pan itself is a fossil lake bed about 40 square km in size."
It hardly qualifies as even a light dusting, but Feb 1 brought us, belatedly, the first flakes of this winter - HBW!
A slight dusting of snow caught on the branches of these larches as the morning light hits the top of the trees
We had some real snow but by mid-morning it had disappeared.
Thank you for your visit, comment or fave.
Textures are my own.
It was once a paint brush but when the handle broke it became my dust brush. I'm sure I've had it longer than I've had my Pentax K200D in the background, i.e. 2008. HMM

Delta 1717 climbs off runway 17 bound for Chicago O'Hare. As the gear is retracted, brakes are automatically applied to stop wheel spin and occasionally shed brake dust accumulated from the previous landing as seen here.
one day it will be cleaned up....or will it?
