Actor Robert Downey, Jr. accepted the Gene Siskel Film Center’s Renaissance Award at its annual gala to support the center’s excellent film programming and educational initiatives. Renamed in honor of the late film critic in 2000, the Gene Siskel Film Center presents approximately 1,500 screenings and more than 100 guest artist appearances year to more than 80,000 film enthusiasts. Attendees of the sold-out event sipped on cocktails and had a luscious dinner while listening to a conversation with actor Robert Downey, Jr. and Todd Phillips, who directed Downey in the upcoming movie Due Date. Phillips' most recent film is The Hangover, the highest-grossing R-rated comedy off all time.

I had meeting with the property recruitment company on Tuesday, they wanted to meet me in person to get a sense of my personality, perhaps to gauge whether or not I was psychologically compatible with other humans. The meeting was held at their offices in Pitt Street and though I was expecting Mr. Smith to come out and give me the mind probe via my belly button this turned out to not be the case.
Instead a friendly conversation followed and it turned out that the recruitment company was on my side (yeah!) and informed me that different job had opened at a larger company, but in a field that I had marginal interest in. More interestingly they wanted to know of my interests. You see, the company in question is small and the crew is rather close, so any new inductee would have to fit straight in. Talk about the workplace of the new economy! I didn’t have a problem with anything – as some of you know, I wrote the book on The Art of Conversation™ AND I go by the pseudonym, “The Pretenda™” which implies that “mixing in” is what I do.
Today I got a phone call from the property recruitment company informing me that I was on my way to the FIRST ROUND of a two/three round interview process! So this Friday, I’ll attend the aforementioned interview and next week we’ll see where I stand in the midst of all this.
Now all I have to do is finish off this super report to finish off my “Four Year Campaign Of Terror” at UWS!
