The "Beast from the East" brought some nice photo opportunities for us, this was taken whilst I was out walking along the shore of the River Clyde at Erskine, and yes it was rather windy as you all know. The Bridge you see at the back is the Erskine Road Bridge.

Having an incredible amount of reach allows you to do some unique things with a lens. Zooming in on the moon as it rises is one of them. In this shot I've shot the moon at 600mm and cropped in a little over 50%, meaning that this is more like 1300mm of reach. I've got some cool shots of the moon in full light, but I wanted to share this more moody shots where layers of clouds are drifting in front of the moon. I've given this shot a little bit of a faded look in Exposure X2 to enhance the mood. It was still very yellow at this point, and I've tried to preserve that here. You can see more images that I've taken with the lens here: bit.ly/2dU7diG or view my first look video here: bit.ly/2dn7bBP

Hailstorm accompanied by strong thunder and numerous lightning flashes pounded us with 3/8" (1 cm) stones for almost a half hour, more than I've ever seen happen here. So much hail it created 'drifts' or banks against the side of the Alaska Highway.

This Peachy Drift rose was unhappy in my yard, but is thriving in its new home at the farm. It's planted in the rose garden, and grows low to the ground, between the larger bushes.

We had a trip to the Most city with my friends because of a car drifting contest which took place there - it was COOOOOOOOOL!!!!!! ;-) all those skids, screeching, smoke, overtaking, speeding...WHOA!

And I guess I fell in love...you should have seen the "accessorized" cars.... My favorites - Ferrari, Dodge Viper, Porsche... ;-D

Info or: Basically, drifting is getting your car sideways down a road. Instead of a drifter causing a drift and then countering to straighten out, he will instead over-counter so his car goes into another drift. A good drifter has the ability to take five or six opposing turns without having traction at any point in time.

Lots of snow while I was away.

Lots of Drift Wood on the Beach,s today.

I was sitting on a bench by the pond, when this turtle surfaced and relaxed, while the gentle current moved him slowly by me.

For The Weekly Colour Challenge --- 'Coloured Water"

Crikey - is it September already? One more day and I'm back at work :-( Where did the summer go?

I have been all domestic again today and I've just taken a blackberry and apple crumble out of the oven - I'm looking forward to some of that later. I ordered my new computer today - yay - but it's going to take 10 days to come - boo! Plus my GHDs have just packed up so I've ordered some more of those too - I had to pay for express delivery as I can't leave the house without their services. I hope they come early or we won't be going to playgroup tomorrow...

Marfa, as a rule, yields a lot of great photography. One of my personal challenges has been capturing the subtle tones of light that is best suited for the grand gestures of Marfa . This is further challenged by nature as a subject. Long exposures loose definition in the organic sense and nature is such a fleeting prospect. That being said this shot ended up as a nice contrast between static railroad tracks and drifting clouds.

production was my first real jump into NIK color efex. I am still navigating the program but for the most part it is amazing.

Tonight I drove home, and sat in my car after I parked up, and listened to "Drift" by Kim Janssen. I felt so far away from all my previous troubles and sadnesses, I felt so peaceful in my head - like it would be disruptive to my peacefulness to even come up with a good analogy to how peaceful I felt. It was lovely.

So, today, just... drift.

Sumi-e ink drawing with some tear-outs for whites, very experimental. You can make of it whatever you wish, a pyramid, snow drifts by the sidewalk, mountains. To me, it is an abstract study in ink.

An icy scene from Sambro, Nova Scotia. The wind was very bitter that day and just strong enough to make the snow lightly drift and cause the wave tops to create a matching drifting spray.

Dedicated to my friends Greg and Keiko.

And now some music.

The Drift is a small canal in Utrecht. The stately houses to the left have their own bridge over the canal. Most of the buidlings are in use by the Universiteit Utrecht.

In search of snow showers yesterday I headed down the 'C' classified road between Dallas and Knockando. It quickly turned into a blue-sky day but around the point of giving up and turning back I found a section of road exposed to a biting cross wind. Here, the snow was drifting with some force creating some fantastic wind-sculpted snow patterns. Standing in the middle of the single-track road with 3-5 foot drifts either side wasn't perhaps the most sensible and at one point my camera resembled a snowball but I was really pleased with some of the images I was able to capture.

On a quiet Boxing Day morning the Providence and Worcester Railroad's WOGR crew is headed south with a trio of light engines toward the Providence area to pick up an 80 car empty unit ethanol train...the final one of 2024.

Definitely best seen large.

Well from high winds and rain last week it's now turned to snow. The sun came out but the wind was blowing strong enough for the snow to drift. This is a 3 exp. HDR which has captured the sandblasting effect of the snow. The track is by Bowstones above Lyme Park near Disley, Cheshire (UK).

Falling slowly, eyes that know me

And I can't go back

Moods that take me and erase me

And I'm painted black

You have suffered enough

And warred with yourself

It's time that you won

Falling slowly

Sing your melody

I'll sing along...

Every time i enter the dark woods, it's full of spirits which takes me to higher places. I just soak it up and let myself drift away with it.

An overcast sky resulted in some interesting lighting. I spotted this snoozing swan just floating along with the slight breeze/current in the pond. When it got near shore, it "came to life" and swam back out and then drifted again.

In the neighborhood.

Here are some more shots of my newest character, I have found her a name and it is Drusa, a old roman name meaning "strong" which I thought fit her. Having arrived in Solitude she spent some moments at the dock, the scent of the crisp sea air and the sight of birds spiraling over the shimmer of water making her feel playful as good memories of her odd childhood traveling to many places drifted through her mind, Afterwards she wandered among and atop the city walls looking for townsfolk who would be easy to part from their coin-purses with a touch of fear or a show of strength as she waited for one she is to meet at the inn.
