Just a quick drawing i did ages ago for the release of twdsi game, but been to lazy to upload until now
Last year Roanna Wells won the "best of the Best " prize at Art in Action for her triptych entitled "Solid Air"
Here she is this year demonstrating her "drawing with thread" technique at this years show, exploring the connections between contemporary drawing and textile art.
This is a pencil portrait of my mother, I was really dreading doing this portrait as my first attempt at drawing my mother was a disaster hence having to do another.
I am pleased with the result from this drawing and my mother actually likes it to which means a lot to me. Hope you like it.

photo of yours truly in front of an old drawing that a client made of me years ago. she called me lady di and loved my glasses ...in those days i wore pink shades with red high top shoes, and black trench coats with black and or red hats. fun times...... Josie was always a special person and her work hangs in my studio loft!
The model we were supposed to have for this session (one of our regulars, who shall remain nameless) cancelled at short notice. Fortunately Robert was able to find a replacement. Nigel has posed for the group before, but not since I joined them.
I arrived a bit late for the session, just in time to catch the last two minutes of what I think was the first pose (which would make it a 15 minute pose). Rather than start in my usual sketchbook I decided to launch straight in with a charcoal drawing on A3 paper.
I think this was a good move as this enabled me to use a looser style that worked better for what was effectively a very short pose.

Triptych drawn as exercise in "Abstraction: Drawing and Painting with Michael Ottersen," a class at the New Mexico Art League. I took the opportunity to get some experience with vine charcoal, with which I have very little experience.

This is another drawing from a while back...I think 1994 or 95. At this time, I was submitting my work to independent press publications of the horror and weird fiction genre, in the hopes of getting my name out there. This was among the first of a hanfful of small assignments. Although this seemed like an exercise in futility, I did manage to get some stuff in print...
Not the most exciting of drawings but it's the last I have, at present, of the New Orleans series till the next batch arrives.Walking out in the streets in the old French Quarter, each day, was nothing like this. We were like an oasis in the middle of it all. A clean, handy, OK place to stay, as a base, but faceless. I'd like to return and share New Orleans with my husband, who's never been..but I'd want a much more characterful romantic place..perhaps a B & B in the French Quarter with a verandah and ironwork, and luscious climbing vines and breakfast outside with croussants. Perhaps someone knows of such a place? Shocked to discover the day before I did this drawing that a priest had been killed in the sister Hotel to this on Bourbon Street, very close to here.
j'ai mis une photo de chardonneret comme " arrière plan" puis j'ai créé un nouveau calque transparent ..j'ai utilisé l'outil "plume" pour "contourner " différents endroits,puis créé des sélections;versé avec le "pot de peinture" la m^me couleur que l'originale...un peu de flou gaussian..et voila!
