I have not been able to do a lot of kids' portraits this year -- my family has really needed me (and vice versa). But here is something I'm working on, a draft so far, for an amazing family. Grab a box of tissues and read about them here: www.beautifulcanvas.org
P.S. Rashmi: thanks for sharing the gorgeous photos and inspiring me to get this done. E: thanks for the joyful music. C and J: thanks for the dinner break! And friendslist: thanks for cheering me on!
With Griffin Bus ceasing trading the previous Friday, the routes that they operated were quickly dispersed to other companies so operation from the following Monday was not interrupted. The running of route 408 between West Kingsdown and Swanley (with a peak hour extension to/from Dartford) was awarded to ARRIVA Kent Thameside who quickly drafted in spare vehicles.
One such vehicle drafted in was a ghostly looking 4400 BG59 FWP seen here waiting to turn out of Azalea Drive into Goldsel Road, Swanley whilst working route 408. The digital display was not programmed for route 408 hence the route number and destination being displayed on a board in the front windscreen. Monday 9th May 2011.
This vehicle was not a Northfleet for very long transferring to ARRIVA The Shires shortly after this picture was taken. It now carries the new interurban livery and assigned the fleet number of 3898.

The theme for macromonday this week is my favorite small thing. I love this drafting pencil which I use to doodle, sketch, and draw. What makes it a favorite thing of mine is that I can keep the graphite point nice and sharp and I totally prefer to use a fine line.
I just saw that this image made Explore. Thank you all for that. It almost made the list @ #16. I have never had an image break the top 100. I am honored. UPDATE - at 5:20p I made it to #12! wow

Pattern Drafting : The Skirt
Starts Wednesday June 2, 6-9pm (skipping June 30)
for 8 sessions
This eight week class will allow students who have worked with a commercial pattern before to learn a wide array of basic skirt drafting manipulations and techniques in order to design, draft and make their own skirt. Some of the topics covered include: waistlines, flares, gathering, yokes, gores, pleats, godets, circle skirts, pockets, buttonholes and closures. Students will then spend a couple classes drafting their own skirt pattern and the final classes will be spent constructing and finishing the skirt.
This wasn't all the teams for the Draft pull, bout 3 more off to side I believe. Hears some heavy stock.
Camp draft is an Australian rodeo event. The rider must first cut a beast out of a yard (corral?) containing about 10 beasts. Once the beast has been cut out, the yard gate is opened and the rider must guide the beast around a figure of eight course and then through a final gap.
Very exciting. And you have to like an event where the competitors wear ties.
Derny "Draft" race at the 5th international track cycling day in the Büttgen Velodrome. The Derny would continually get faster and the last one who could hold it's wheel was the winner.
Derny-Ausscheidungs-Rennen beim 5. Internationalen Bahntag im Sportforum Büttgen. Das Derny wurde kontinuierlich schneller und der Letzte, der noch drangeblieben ist, war der Gewinner dieses Rennens.
Ended up with 3 picks out of 45 total in a 15 set draft of 41075, and I was pretty happy snagging so many leaves and so much dark red in general. Can already see some of this being used for SHIPTember.....

At 7:00 am I made my way to the recruitment office, and stepped inside. Someone asked for my papers, and I handed them to him. After about a half an hour, they called me into the office. I stepped inside and the officer saluted, and I saluted back. He asked me some questions, then he sent me to the fitting station. After that they checked my height, weight, eyesight, and gave me a vaccine. I was then sent home, and was told in two days to report back for basic training.
