During the 20th century, men of a certain age were required to register for Selective (military) Service with the federal government. When that was done, the government issued what people called a draft card, as seen here. Bill had to register for the draft, even at age 30 and 7 months. He was never called into military service.
I had never seen a Birchwood-Couderay address before. I thought Yarnell had a post office back then. At any rate, Yarnell is perhaps equidistant from Birchwood and Courderay. Hayward is the Sawyer County seat.

that table is 6 feet long.. maybe its just me but the way I drew it looks dinky.. haha just wanted to make sure that was clear lol

A friend of mine challenged me to design a model of the Pokemon Metagross. This is my first draft, which obviously needs a lot of work. But I think I got the gist of it, and it's fully closed too, so I just need to work on the shaping.

I created this design for an article about the NBA Draft which discussed top prospects Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams. I used the cavs logo because they had the first pick and it was assumed that they would pick one of those two players first overall.
Toddler dress, size 2T, my own pattern. I know it's rumpled and lacking embellishment but I love it, and when that happens I get too excited to wait!

Döderhultaren [Axel Petersson] (1868-1925) - The draft inspection [Beväringsmönstring] (undated). Painted wood. Exists in many versions, this one is in the collection of the Thiel Gallery, Stockholm.
Peterssons acquired his somewhat sinister-sounding nickname, Döderhultaren (which simply refers to his place of birth, Döderhult) when he was about forty and became famous nationally. Until then he had been known in his hometown, Oskarshamn, as Tolvskillingen (25 öre), because that was the price he asked for his tree figures.

pattern: self-drafted from a RTW tee
fabric: cheap jersey from a sale grab bag from Girl Charlee, I think (while ago)
innards: used that triple stretch stitch on the inner seams; zigzags to sew the sleeve and bottom hems (hence a little gathering at the bottom hem, sigh, I think my zig-zag was set a little too skinny).
note to self: neckline was about 25", the length that wound up working for the next band was 19". yes, it probably took me as long to do the neck as to do the entire rest of the shirt! and at first I had zig-zag topstitched it as well but it gave it weird gathers so I ripped all that out, OH WHAT A PAIN to rip out tiny grey zig zags from grey fabric gaaahhhhh.

So first I bought the Seamly basic T pattern b/c I was convinced of its awesomeness by a million people on instagram….but it just did not fit me right. So then I printed out the Hey June Union Station t, a pattern I had bought a long time ago, but after I taped it together and compared it to the Seamly, I could see that the fit would be basically exactly the same.
So instead I pulled out one of my favorite t-shirts and traced it and viola, I wound up with a shirt that fits me far better than the muslins of the other pattern did. (I texted Silvia a million pictures throughout the process!)
