Our Pit bull "Bull Dozer : at the Camp Site. He had a blast playing with the neighboring camp sites Lab. Until the chihuahuas came out and scared dozer away. Poor guy. He maybe a pit but he is the kindest most gentle Pit bull you will ever meet. He is our son. What an incredible animal. Sorry we had to tie you up boy, we love you!
It’s crazy the things you can see when you're not looking for them. I had just arrived in Whitefish for a day of railfanning and stopped to grab a coffee from McDonalds. While sitting in the drive-thru line I saw truck after truck laden with heavy machinery pass by headed south on Highway 93. To my great surprise the final truck in the convoy was hauling a Great Northern Snow Dozer, yes a snow dozer. I grabbed my coffee and pursued the convoy to Columbia Falls knowing this was a once and a lifetime opportunity to grab some shots. I got this shot at the town pump just west of Columbia Falls where the convoy stopped for fuel.
I was trying to use the timer to get a picture where it looked like I was sleeping but I wasn't quick enough. It does look like my head just fell back so it's ok. The track is more visible in the larger version. 2 sec exposure.
Look at large version.
Found abandoned high on a windblown plateau. Looks like they dug a couple test pits, found nothing of interest, and abandoned the bulldozer where it lay. It had the keys, but it certainly wasn't going anywhere.
