This is why you don't leave heavy equipment out and unlocked in Kingston Falls

It’s crazy the things you can see when you're not looking for them. I had just arrived in Whitefish for a day of railfanning and stopped to grab a coffee from McDonalds. While sitting in the drive-thru line I saw truck after truck laden with heavy machinery pass by headed south on Highway 93. To my great surprise the final truck in the convoy was hauling a Great Northern Snow Dozer, yes a snow dozer. I grabbed my coffee and pursued the convoy to Columbia Falls knowing this was a once and a lifetime opportunity to grab some shots. I got this shot at the town pump just west of Columbia Falls where the convoy stopped for fuel.

I was trying to use the timer to get a picture where it looked like I was sleeping but I wasn't quick enough. It does look like my head just fell back so it's ok. The track is more visible in the larger version. 2 sec exposure.

Look at large version.
