I've been struggling to move on. It's funny what you retreat to at the end of a relationship, just comfort food, procrastination and a lot of music. Music's hard though, as so much of my favourite stuff is now linked to her. Iron and Wine, Holly Throsby, Songs: Ohia, all this stuff that I'd normally play now that I don't want to.
Strobist: Anyway, enough whinge, that's not what your here for. This is my entry for the Lighting 102 assignment, as I won't have time after this (cursed exams). I took this at 8.45pm, meaning that it was well and truly night over here. My aim is to show someone trying to distract themselves late in the afternoon, when not much is happening. To do this I actually put my 430EX outside my window with a 1/2 CTO and put the white point at 6500k. I started at f/2.8 and 1/8 power, but not enough was in focus so I pushed the ratio at both ends up a stop and got 1/4 and f/4.
I'd love some feedback on this, if you could.

in the pub. it was so, so cool to see jane again. we used to live together, 'til she met her new fella & they moved in together. they only live 5 mins down the road, but we never see eachother anymore. we had a really, really great evening catching up on all the fun, crazy, good, bad & sad stuff happening in our lives. i miss her. she's an aussie girl through & through. she's been in london for about 4 years, but is going home for xmas & then moving out there for good with her boyfriend.

With Burma in the news lately I thought I'd post this photo of this sign that greeted me when I visited in 1989, a year after the coup that brought the current military leadership to power. This is on the Thai side of the border just outside Mae Sai.
At that time the new Burmese government, short of cash and not wanting anyone to observe conditions inside the country, was asking over $500 just to get in. This part of northern Burma was not really under government control, it was a stronghold for the KNU. You could sneak over the border from Thailand and get a brief look at the other side, but this was officially discouraged and there were stories of people being kidnapped or thrown in jail. I didn't go very far.
Pah, even though this is sooooo over-edited I actually love it.

She gave me "that look" because she knew I had to go out this morning and run errands. She wasn't too happy about having to be left alone. She was however very happy to see me when I got home and greeted me at the door. I gave her a big hug and kiss for being such a sweet girl!
