Snowtime in Germany, even in the Rhineland area, where snow is very rare. I took this picture a few days before and thougt, perhaps I would be able to get a better one to show you. A better one means in my sense, an action shot of course. This is an area in which I will progress in 2013. Unfortunately the last days we had such a flat light with dark grey snowy sky, that the camera turned the Auto-ISO to incredible 12.800 to generate a shutter speed of 1/1600 sec. And I could't find the right white balance, too. *grumble*
So I decided to present this one, which shows Hugo in perfect trained shape in "our fields" at the river.
Have a nice sunday, my friends, In these minutes it starts snowing again and we will go out with the kids - and Hugo.
The one that didn't quite make it, but i thought it was funny enough to post anyways :)
A doglicious Thursday, everybody ! :)
After the previous night's uneventful sunset, I was ready to grab a spectacular sunrise. And the two-hour time difference made it easier for me to extract myself from the bed's magnetic field on time. But as you can see, the sunrise turned out to be soft and gentle. As I stood here with my finger glued to the shutter release, I was surprised to see that this park is where the locals walk their dogs. Fortunate dogs! This is a slightly wider view of the previous shot.
Here's even more dogs! These were all designed as custom gifts, some on commission.

Seen at Downey Street Markets this morning, this little chap made sure nobody came near its owner !!
A simple figure that I made last night. Would have used a different hat but this was the only one I had.

24/52 for 52 weeks for dogs. I took this pic trying to fulfill this challenge I picked up:
"I'd like to challenge you to shoot in manual mode on your new camera acheiving a shallow dof. (bokeh) with a colorful background. I like to see a full body shot, too (or close).
Something along the lines of this one (previous pic) but add a colorful background like flowers or something more than just one solid color. Something with red it it would be pretty cool!"
I tried some other things inside first that I didn't like. Then I looked for a colorful setting backdrop outside, but it is early in the growing season still here in MN and there is lots of green and not much color. Tried a colorful blanket but didn't like that either. So I finally settled on a field of dandelions at the retriever club. A few things I wish were different, but overall I liked how this turned out, esp. the brightness of her one eye. This is out of the camera with no processing (and yes I did use manual settings). I also did learn some other things about my new camera, which was the point. Can't decide if I like that she was already wet, but that is typical her...
