Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on the 'Jurassic Coast' near Lulworth in Dorset. Hard layers of Portland limestone have been folded on this part of the coast so that they appear almost vertical and these form the seaward edge of the small promontory seen here, that includes Durdle Door.

The impressive natural arch of Durdle Door formed due to the effect of the erosive power of the sea on the vertical layers of different types of rock. At some point in the past the sea would have begun to breach the hard Portland limestone and form a string of caves along the coast. The much softer rocks behind would have quickly been eroded away creating caves and natural arches. Eventually the arches collapsed leaving stacks, which would in turn be broken and washed away by the power of the waves.

Durdle Door is part of only a small strip of hard Portland limestone that is left here. The remnants of old arches can still be seen in the form of 'stumps' of limestone only just visible in the waves. One day that is all that will remain of Durdle Door.

The Alnwick Garden is one of the world’s most ambitious new gardens. The Duchess of Northumberland’s vision for a forgotten plot is now a truly 21st century experience full of imagination, inspiration and fun. Designed by Jacques and Peter Wirtz, The Garden is a wonderful combination of spaces, themes, quirkiness and play

In spite of the heat from the late morning sun, a woman wearing a protective face mask does her part in keeping her village nice and clean by sweeping the portion of the road close to her house.

In most, if not all, villages in the Philippines, the local residents are urged by the local government authorities to help in the cleanliness campaign by cleaning not only their own home yard but also the area(s) of the road near their house.

"Time's up, what you gonna say next?

Can't hide what you did to me, yeah

Put you out like a cigarette

Put me out of my misery, yeah

It's not you it's me

Come on, seriously

Heard that once or twice before

You got that straight from a movie

Bounce back like a rebound

Are you saying what you mean now?

Do you mean, do you mean what you say?

What you said, no, you can't take away

You're my gospel, but I'm losing faith, losing faith

Do you mean, do you mean what you say?

Take a minute, do you need to stop and think?

What we have, no, we can't throw away, throw away

Show me that you mean it, ay

Show me that you mean it

Do you really mean it, ay

Everything happens for a reason

Show me that you mean it (Do you? Do you?)

Show me that you mean it (Do you? Do you?)"

Beautyful blossom of a plum tree

Mergulho no campo vasto

Do amplo e escuro mistério

E a essência toda arrasto

Em forma de ouro, em minério

E em vida vou gerindo

O que em morte só se vive

O que é da vida, seguindo

Vida e morte em um só declive

SINTRA (Portugal): Azenhas do Mar.

October 18, 2019.

A Lagoa do Fogo llegué un mal día climatológicamente hablando.

This Yellow-headed Blackbird was in an interesting position when I captured this image of him. I find it interesting that I saw several of them doing the split, that is, perched on two separate stalks. And he gave me a nice head profile, probably wondering what I was doing back there!

Today's Science Lesson: though this rattlesnake -- common in the Ozarks, but not on our property -- seems to be napping, as the weather cools it becomes sluggish and stays near its winter hibernaculum, usually a small cave on wooded hillsides. Most snakes in Missouri, however, go into brumation, a slowing metabolism, so on warmer days might briefly appear. We see more common and non-poisonous garter snakes, kingsnakes, black and rat snakes and almost no rodents, thanks to our slithery neighbors.
