I found this ghostly looking packing in my kitchen. Some of my friends say ghosts live in old houses. When I was a boy, I was dreaming to see a HARMLESS ghost.

I had a chance to live in a place where people believe a ghost (old lady) exists. Unfortunately, I did not see the ghost, but my friend saw.

I've never seen a real ghost in my life. Still, I do NOT say "Ghosts do not exist."

This Spring has been epic so far with both Western Tanagers and Miller moths. It has been dry and coupled with a late frost, the conditions have been perfect for a moth infestation. This tanager was sitting and enjoying the crisp morning air when suddenly he flew straight up. When he returned to his perch, he was chomping away on a moth. As you can see, the moth "dust" is flying. Yummy!

I was wrong about the tanagers moving on. Yesterday there were six males at the same time on the decks and six more ( four male and two female) this morning. In addition, we had our first sighting of a female Bullock's Oriole as well as a second male. So much fun!

Please remember why we celebrate Memorial Day today - say a prayer for fallen heroes and thank a vet!

Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

... if you are able to listen.

Just another capture of one of the Mandarin ducks in the park, this time obviously a male. He was taking a nap but peeking at me with one eye when I took some photos while he was standing on one leg as they usually do when they are sleeping.

Do you empathise with the fish or the bird, I wonder? Several people have expressed sympathy for the fish in previous photos 'Do they ever get away?' I have been asked. Almost never.

The Great Crested Grebes work hard for their catch - they dive below the surface for about 30 seconds, cover a surprising distance under the water, and only bring up a fish every 10 - 20 dives. This one managed to catch two fish in the space of about half an hour. Nature as it is lived in the wild.

Jasper does not like it when I interrupt him in the library, especially when there is magic happening. Sorry bud, I'll let you get back to it.

An outtake from last weekend’s library shoot. I thought the look I was getting was funny. The shot I posted Sunday is in the first comment

Serra do Amolar in Pantanal is a place almost untouched by the hands of man. It is the last frontier of the Pantanal with an enormous natural wealth. Altogether, there are 80km of mountains spread over 300 thousand hectares between the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso as well as Bolivia. Serra do Amolar in Pantanal is surely one of Brazil’s best kept secrets. One of the biggest challenges for the conservation of Serra do Amolar has happened in 2020, when 90% of Serra do Amolar was taken by fire. Many animals died and part of the vegetation remains charred to this day, as if to remind us of the dangers of environmental imbalance in this biome so dependent on rain cycles and so affected by human action. This picture is an aerial view from 2018, when I visited this stunning place.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Travel Tuesday.

Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

Serra do Sincorá is a mountain range located in the Brazilian state of Bahia, an integral part of Chapada Diamantina and which has its most beautiful natural attractions (such as Morro do Pai Inácio) and human attractions (such as the historic cities of Lençóis, Palmeiras, Mucugê and Andaraí), constituting an important geological, paleontological and ecological site.

It has an extension of 80 km, projecting an average of 800 meters above the bordering valleys - reaching up to 2000 m in altitude, forming valleys and canyons.

The Serra was the central nucleus of diamond exploration, in a race that began in the 1840s, generating the influx of tens of thousands of explorers in search of diamonds that, having emerged from kimberlites, by alluvium were taken to the beds of the rivers.

Square dancing tractors combine the art of dance with agricultural machinery. This unique tradition involves vintage tractors performing choreographed movements, resembling a traditional square dance.

History

Origins

The concept began in 1953 as part of a marketing campaign by International Harvester.

The Farmall Super-C tractors showcased their agility through choreographed performances.

Performance

Four couples operate tractors, moving in sync to mimic square dance steps.

A caller guides the drivers, similar to traditional square dancing.

Skills Required

Tractor Operation

Participants must have knowledge of operating vintage tractors.

Skills include mechanical aptitude and patience.

Dance Coordination

Dancers need impeccable timing and teamwork.

The performance requires both agricultural skills and dance grace.

PHOTO: this tractor appeared to be dancing, so I did some research and found tractors really do dance, square dance that is!
