I found out that truck wheels can travel a long way. They jump ditches and cement barriers, travel through trees and jump secondary roads. Property lines mean nothing to fast wheels. I am glad my truck was in the way in the driveway and put a firm stop to it. That wheel could have gone further and hit our house and worse... The "wide load" truck with fishing boat traveling from California to Alaska came to a grinding halt at our place at Lac La Hache.

After Sanny (my travel colleague) and I dropped off the ladies for "another shopping spree" we drove into Bradenton and came across the River Walk by accident. This is a new multi-million dollar development that is well worth a visit.
We stopped off for a coffee and it must have been the local +80s day as I felt so very young!! However, this vintage Dodge Ram was sitting in the car park - in the disabled bay with its correct disabled parking permit shown - and I couldn't resist taking a photo, whilst laughing. Only laughing because this must have been owned and driven by one of the octogenarian gentleman sitting across from us drinking his coffee. Good old "His Rod" bombing about the Gulf Coast!!

On June 1st, 2014 at 4:16pm, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) responded to multiple reports of a vegetation fire at 400 Wall St. near Granada High School in Livermore. Arriving units found a good-sized working vegetation fire in the grass behind the school and immediately went into offensive mode. Upon arrival, LPFD Battalion 9 assumed Wall IC and requested a second alarm, summoning several Type 1 engines to assist the Type 3 engines and Patrols with fire attack as well as to provide access to a water supply. Alameda County Fire responded two battalion chiefs (Battalion 2 and Battalion 3) and a Type 3 engine (Engine 308) to assist as well. Because the fire was also threatening a couple structures nearby, LPFD Truck 96 responded to the call also for structure protection, but cleared by the time I arrived on scene.
Besides Truck 96, the total balance of apparatus on scene included Alameda County Battalions 2 and 3, LPFD Battalion 9, Alameda County Type 3 Engine 308, LPFD Type 3 Engines 394 and 399, LPFD Chief 90, LPFD Patrol Engines 491, 495, 497, and LPFD Type 1 Engines 90, 95, 97, and 98, making for a total of 15 pieces of apparatus on scene!
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Engine 498 (E498) is one of the Patrol units. It a 2012 Burton's rig built on a Dodge Ram 5500 chassis.
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Engine 490 (E490) in the background is one of the Patrol units. It is a 2004 Ferrara built on a Ford F450 chassis.
These are the stuff dreams are made of, even if they were never realized in real life.
