The Holden VC Commodore is an automobile that was produced in Australia by the General Motors division, Holden between 30 March 1980 and October 1981. The VC Commodore was succeeded by the Holden VH Commodore, and is distinguished by its 'egg-crate' style grille. The VC series brought many improvements over the VB Commodore and maintained the Commodore's place as the best selling car in Australia.

The improvements included revised suspension to improve ride and handling, a few cosmetic changes and the availability of new options such as cruise control.

However, one of the biggest changes were a series of engine upgrades which included redesigned cylinder heads, now with a single intake and exhaust port for every cylinder, improved intake/exhaust manifolds, new camshafts and pistons and an all-new carburettor called the Rochester Varajet, as well as the fitment of electronic ignition. In total, these upgrades brought up to 25% more power and 15% better fuel efficiency. The engine block on these motors were painted a blue colour (as opposed to the previous red) and were known as the XT5 versions, although are commonly referred to as the 'Blue' motors.

As well as changes to the existing engines, a new 1.9 litre 4-cylinder engine was introduced. Known as the 'Starfire Four,' the new engine was the 2.85 litre (173 ci) blue six-cylinder engine with two cylinders removed. Also used in the Holden Sunbird, this engine was fitted to the Commodore in response to increasing pressure from the 1979 oil crisis. This new engine was not a complete success however, as its lack of power meant the engine needed to be pushed hard to deliver acceptable performance, negating any fuel saving benefits.

The engines used in this generation were Holden's own, and were not shared with the equivalent Opel Rekord or Vauxhall Carlton.

A new spec level was added to the range: the L. Thus the Commodore lineup was L, SL and SL/E. Transmission choices remained the same as the VB Commodore. A total of 121,807 VC Commodores were produced.

With the discontinuation of the Holden HZ models in 1980, the Commodore was complemented by a range of Holden WB commercial vehicles and the Statesman WB luxury models. All of these also utilised the "Blue" motors.

HDT VC Commodore:

In late 1979 Holden pulled out of touring car racing after two years of domination by the Holden LX Torana A9X SS Hatchback. In 1980, this led to Peter Brock buying the Holden Dealer Team (HDT), though without Holden funding was needed to continue racing and development. This led to the creation of a modified VC Commodore, tuned and styled under the direction of Peter Brock who established HDT Special Vehicles, not only to produce 'hotted up' versions of the Commodore but as a way of funding the race team. The result was a luxury-performance version of the VC Commodore, to be sold through select Holden dealers throughout Australia. The HDT VC Commodore was powered by an HDT tuned 5 litre V8 engine, producing 160 kW at 4500rpm. The HDT VC Commodore was a limited edition vehicle, with exactly 500 production models produced. These only sold with a choice of three colours (Palais White, Firethorn Red or Tuxedo Black) to pay homage to Marlboro, HDT's main sponsor at the time.

On the sidelines during match 35. They're all present for the matches (and most specifically their own matches), but the ways in which the wrestlers pass the time—with rituals, music, preening, conversation, or other activities—can be as interesting as the bouts. Preparation and anticipation give way to euphoria and potential letdown, and everything in between. It's fascinating.

Match 35, at 133 pounds, saw Austin Sisco (SUNY-O win a decision (9-4) over Nicholas Camacho (CU).

Open concept in design is a widely desired aesthetic. However, sometimes even in an open space, there needs to be some level of division. The same is occasionally true for spaces that are more defined. An easy and inexpensive solution for creating this division of space is the use of room dividers. Dividers come in a wide variety of sizes and styles and can be free-standing or permanent installs.

After countless days of gloomy weather, the sun has finally emerged from behind the dark grey clouds early in the morning. With the strong light emitted by the scorching sun, it enhanced the architectural design of the ArtScience Museum located at the very heart of Marina Bay Sands.

Despite the fact that the ArtScience Museum is shaped like a lotus, a cleavage of a gigantic architecture could be seen and hence, the name ‘Sharp Division’.

Boggo Road Gaol No 2 Division was opened in 1903 as the State Prison for Women at Boggo Road South Brisbane.

It was built adjacent to a male prison, which was established on the site in 1883. The male prison was later to become No 1 Division. The female prison was constructed in response to a 1887 Parliamentary Inquiry, which recommended that the "separate system" be introduced, that is a separate cell for each prisoner. The Inquiry also recommended that a female section be established within the Brisbane Gaol. Although in a diluted form, the design was based on ideas of prison planning and reform that were current in England in the nineteenth century.

The State Prison for Women, with 80 cells was designed by the Department of Public Works, during an era when it was producing a large number of high quality public buildings. The designer of the women's prison is not known, but likely J S Murdoch and T Pye supervised the design and construction respectively.

The complex remained a female prison until 1921, when Brisbane Prison reorganised and divided into three divisions. No 2 Division, the former women's prison, was used for the detention of long term prisoners transferred from St Helena. The female prison was relocated to a building on the southern end of the prison reserve. No 2 Division was extended to include an extensive workshop block on the eastern wall, and a tunnel was constructed, connecting this to the original men's prison, which became No 1 Division. The construction of the workshops enabled the former women's workshop to be converted to a cell block, in 1930.

In the mid 1970s No 2 Division became a maximum security prison, with No 1 Division mainly being used for lesser offenders, remand and holding cells. No 1 Division buildings were gradually demolished over a period of time, commencing in 1968. This included the demolition of all of the 1880s gaol and its replacement by a series of concrete wings which formed a large quadrangle. During the 1980s, No 2 Division became the centre of prisoner unrest, which included riots, hunger strikes and roof-top protests. In 1985-86 a Visitors Centre was built adjacent to the Gatehouse.

The final years of unrest precipitated the establishment of the Commission of Review into Corrective Services in Queensland. By this time the Brisbane Correctional Centre and in particular No 2 Division, with its poor conditions and lack of sanitation, were seen as symbols of all that was inadequate and deficient with the prisons system in Queensland. No 2 Division was decommissioned in January 1989 and No 1 Division closed in July 1992. Following the closure of No 1 Division all of the structures were demolished with the exception of some cells and an observation tower immediately adjacent to Division No 2.
