The river creates a divide between the main part of the town and a small number of houses on the other wise. It's funny how different the two look just in this one shot. Even the street lights are different.
Anyway, my quiet walk continued. A couple of locals seemed nervous of me walking around with a fully-extended tripod slung over my shoulder. I guess from afar I could be slightly intimidating. Up close you can see how much of a nervous, shy person I am really.
Right now I'm still in the absolute depths of negative emotion, and so my shots of Staithes continue to give me a sense of isolation and loneliness. For all the street lights and lit houses, it feels so empty. Do any of those dwellings truly have life within, or is it just for show?
I drove up to Hadrian's Wall on Tuesday evening to attempt to capture this iconic landmark with some golden hour light. It was a testing evening with the wind and a rouge shower of horizontal rain but it settled down at the right time just as the sun approached the horizon. Nice when a plan comes together.
