Modification to make adjustment of points simpler.
Cassette points are not set by gap, but by dwell angle. On early versions of the SEV Marchal distributor, adjustment was by removal of cap (and sometimes body, given its location) and to turn the thumbscrew a by clicks in either direction depending on dwell angle required. Later versions had a hole in the body in which a 3mm allen key was inserted making cap removal unnecessary.

This guy kept catching and locking in place. I looked up the bit in a book, and found very little mechanical info on trouble shooting. So, I had to find out what was wrong myself.
Turned out there was a small spring on the rear of the distributor mechanism that had come detached. I figured out where it needed to attach in order to keep the switch that engaged teh clutch from slipping , and with a few turns of a screw driver I fixed the Linotype!!!
Well, I got the clutch working. But I was pretty excited.
