Valencia is a bilingual city: Valencian and Spanish are the two official languages. Spanish is official in all of Spain, whereas Valencian is official in the Valencian Community. Despite distinct dialectal traits and political tension between Catalonia and Valencia, Catalan and Valencian are mutually intelligible and considered two varieties of the same language by the linguistic academies and governments of both regions, just under different names.
At midstream you stand, the flowing current
touch your feet, transient, fleeting, in an instant.
Flows the water current, constantly touching you
How many cusecs of it, you think, belongs to you ?
Either consider the entire water current is yours
else be certain, really nothing of it is yours
What you belong to is what that belongs to you
Yet, own nothing of the Whole that you belong to
Only class of conscious force is at work
in all parts of each thing of everything Here
All five elements have come into existence
by reason of distinct discrimination of essence
Comfort and discomfort experienced by the senses
Chemical reactions of different types of substances
which collide with the senses in different conditions
and create subtle , entirely varied vibrations
All mental and physical substance, existent
Are part of the incessant flowing force, consistent
Substances flow unceasing, uninterrupted
Your belongings are eternal, unlimited.
Immortal Soul is pure, in union with One
'I' am part of the Whole, which contains me.
Whole is One, a part of which 'I' am wholly
at one with the One, the Whole belongs to me.

The WiFi is a bit patchy down here in a distinctly balmy Fuerteventura, and I've no idea whether I'm going to manage to upload this successfully, but I thought I'd give it a try. So I'm currently leaning in the direction of the router in the resort reception and trusting my luck.
Of course this wasn't taken in the Canaries, although there are plenty of kite surfers patrolling the coast between Majanicho and El Cotillo on the northwest tip of the island. This was one from much closer to home a year ago, when the subject steered himself into the exact position I'd hoped for as his kite seemed to capture the burning globe in the sky and harness its power. Sometimes photography is difficult, but sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time to capture the moment.
Ironically, last night I was in the wrong place at the right time, but we'll come back to that when I can edit my shots at home.
Oh yes, and some of you might be waiting to hear about my exploits with the underwater camera. Well it would be better if if I could see the back of the screen when I'm nosing around the rocks in my swimming shorts. Maybe I'll try wearing my varifocals under my mask next time. It would also help if a young lady hadn't ventured into my lagoon stark naked as I fiddled about with my camera beneath the surface, but I did get there first. Suffice to say she didn't make it into the viewfinder - which of course I couldn't see anyway. Enough said.
Looking forward to catching up with your all when we're back and somewhere where the WiFi behaves.....
TP&W is a railroad that I've followed for years (just search my pages and you'll see what I mean!) Here's the latest incarnation of the railroad...still the same name, but looking distinctly different!
That lead unit is a former UP SD40-2 3412...a snoot unit! It was repainted November, 2017.

Around the main hall are the entrance hall (foyer), the golden salon, the bust salon, the white salon and the museum which houses the costumes of some of the famous artists who have passed through the theatre.
The entrance staircase, made of Carrara marble, is decorated with two lion heads carved from single blocks. Yellow and pink marbles from Siena and Portugal give distinct shades of colour and texture to the balustrade. Successive landings, framed by stained glass windows by Gaudin, lead to the upper levels

A hot spring in the Upper Geyser Basin at Yellowstone National Park. The distinct color of the pool is due to bacteria which inhabit the water. On a few occasions, Morning Glory Pool has erupted as a geyser, usually following an earthquake or other nearby seismic activity. Several entryways have been clogged due to objects being thrown in by tourists, reducing the hot water supply, and in turn altering the overall appearance of the pool. Several attempts by park officials to artificially induce eruptions to clear the pool of debris and clear blocked entryways have been met with mixed results. Due to the damage caused by ignorance and vandalism, it has been suggested that Morning Glory is becoming a "Faded Glory".
This was our first trip with digital cameras, almost 10 years ago. I am slowly adding photos to this album as time allows.
In Slovenia, the "Pletnar" is a highly valued profession, and it had been passed down from generation to generation for centuries.
It is said that anyone who did not take a pletna ride didn't actually visit Bled.

The most distinctly American fact you will ever learn is that the piercing cry you associate with the bald eagle is actually a Hollywood invention.
Imagine the sound a bald eagle makes. Got it? Good.
Unless you’re really into birds, you probably got it wrong. The long, powerful cry you likely heard in your mind’s ear when asked to imagine the call of a bald eagle is actually the call of a red-tailed hawk, whose voice Hollywood studios have been dubbing over footage of bald eagles for generations.

White naped Mangabey
Witkruinmangabey
Cercocebus lunulatus
This now distinct species is considered to have a geographic range east of the Sassandra River to the west of the Volta River in Ghana; Cercocebus lunulatus is also recorded as inhabiting forests in southwestern Burkina Faso and northeastern Ivory Coast. Cercocebus lunulatus is considered Endangered by the IUCN.
Mangabeys are some of the most rare and endangered monkeys on Earth. These large forest dwellers are found only in Africa. They look somewhat like guenons but are bigger. Local people call some of them "the ones with the thin waist" or "four-eyed monkeys," because some kinds of mangabeys have bright white eyelids.
All mangabeys have a tail that is longer than their body, providing balance for them as they scamper through the rain forest canopy.
Mangabeys can be golden brown, gray, dark brown, or soft black, depending on the species or subspecies, usually with a lighter color on the underbelly.
Mangabeys have some interesting ways of communicating with each other. It's often hard to see one another in the dense forest canopy, so sound is very important. In fact, mangabeys can be very noisy!
White is an important color when you need to get your point across. White-collared mangabeys use movements of their white-tipped tails to express themselves. White hair on the underside of the chin helps make other facial gestures more noticeable. For white-eyelid mangabeys, batting their eyelids and raising their eyebrows can have a whole range of meanings. Making these facial expressions and flashing their white eyelids against their darker fur help get the message across. Flashing eyelids can mean "warning—watch your step!"
Like most monkeys, mangabeys are very much at home in trees, spending most of their time there. However, white-eyelid mangabeys are also comfortable on the ground, traveling on their hands and feet between patches of forest or to forage in the leaf litter for tasty food items. In some areas of the forest, the ground is swampy, but that’s not a problem for mangabeys. Webbing between their fingers and toes helps these amazing monkeys swim!
All mangabeys are excellent jumpers, and gray-cheeked mangabeys and white-collared mangabeys have a tail that is strong enough to hook onto branches as they leap about the forest canopy.
Mangabeys are mainly fruit eaters, although they can also eat leaves, nuts, seeds, insects, and spiders. Powerful teeth and jaws help them crack hard nut shells or bite into thick-skinned fruits. Mangabeys also tear bark from trees using their teeth and hands to find bugs and spiders hiding underneath. Large cheek pouches act like a shopping cart: mangabeys fill their pouches with food until full! The biggest meal of the day for mangabeys is breakfast, and they start foraging for food in the early morning, often before the sun comes up.
Like many monkeys, mangabeys lick nectar from flowers, moving from tree to tree for this sweet feast, earning them status as pollinators as well as seed dispersers.
Mangabeys live in groups, called troops, of about 10 to 40 individuals, depending on the species and the availability of food and habitat. There is usually one adult male that acts as leader and the troop's defender, but sometimes larger troops have two or three adult males that split off with their own family units to forage for food. When there is plenty of food available, mangabey troops often gather together for a while and even exchange troop members.
Much like baboons, a female mangabey's buttocks swell when she is ready to breed. This is her visual signal to the adult males.
One of the Horsey Gap Grey Seals.
A stark memory from my childhood was of these lovely creatures being slaughtered by men with clubs. I remember the sea of red, the destruction on the beach. They were skinned there and then with the remains left for the gulls. I also remember being a very angry 8 year old that day. Fortunately, at least in England those days are over.
In Scotland seals can still be shot by fishery owners to "protect their stock" whatever that means. Numbers are dropping year on year with less than 100 reported last year.
In Canada however quotas are set for various seal species each year at over 400,000 allowed to be killed commercially, with lesser numbers also destroyed in Namibia and Greenland. I can understand the native people doing this for survival, at least they use every single part of the seal. However for the fur trade there is sadly still a huge market. Hopefully one day we will see this end.

Museo Soumaya:
The building is a 46-metre (151 ft) high six story building covered by 16,000 hexagonal aluminum tiles. The aluminium used in the project was supplied by a company that is also owned by Carlos Slim. The new building was designed by the Mexican architect Fernando Romero, who is married to a daughter of Carlos Slim, engineered with Ove Arup and Frank Gehry. and cost $70 million to build. The museum has a narrow entrance that opens into a large white gallery. The top floor of the building is opened so that it is illuminated by sunlight during the daytime. In addition to the art galleries, the new building contains a library, restaurant, and an 350-seat auditorium. Slim and Romero discussed the design of the building extensively, even going over details of the planned construction during family gatherings. Before being selected as the architect for the project Romero had won several international architecture awards. Each of the six floors of the museum are distinctly shaped. The weight of the building is upheld by an exoskeleton of 28 curved steel vertical columns and seven beams encircling the structure built by a Slim owned company that manufactures offshore oil rigs. In addition, the roof is kept stable through its suspension from a cantilever. The floors are made of high quality marble that was imported from Greece. (From Wikipedia)

The sapeaters are quite a distinct-looking group of hoverflies. They appear in the spring and some species don't visit flowers, instead feeding on sap runs on old trees. This is also where the females lay their eggs and the larvae develop within the sap runs. The males hang around nearby from time to time hovering for minutes at a time, which is probably a form of courtship display.
This unexpectedly made it to Explore and I am happy that more people than usual will get a a chance to see this unusual and uncommon hoverfly.
Thank you for your visit, likes and comments, which I appreciate a lot.

Asparagus has been used as a vegetable owing to its distinct flavor, and in medicine due to its diuretic properties and its purported function as an aphrodisiac. It is pictured as an offering on an Egyptian frieze dating to 3000 BC. In ancient times, it was also known in Syria and in Spain. Greeks and Romans ate it fresh when in season, and dried the vegetable for use in winter. Roman Epicureans froze its sprouts high in the Alps for the Feast of Epicurus. Emperor Augustus created the "Asparagus Fleet" for hauling the vegetable, and coined the expression "faster than cooking asparagus" for quick action.
A breed of "early-season asparagus" that can be harvested two months earlier than usual was announced by a UK grower in early 2011.
In Explore (27/04/2021)
In Germany, asparagus is grown in "tents" as you can see here near Geiselhöring.
the stars may be seen distinctly before the sun rises, but as His light advances their rays are gradually absorbed by His, and they become invisible. Not from the want of light in themselves, but from the superior effulgence of the chief luminary.
The case is similar here, for there is a strong and universal light which absorbs all the little distinct lights of the soul. They grow faint and disappear under its powerful influence and self activity is now now longer distinguishable.
Dactylorhiza majalis (Orchidaceae) 195 24
This species was first described from Dresden, Germany by Reichenbach in 1828 and was initially ascribed the title Orchis latifolia which after several reclassifications became the Dactylorhiza majalis we are familiar with today. Its name refers to the month of May which although accurate, is very much at the start of what is an early flowering season for an essentially montane member of the Dactylorhiza genus.
Dactylorhiza majalis is a widespread species with a range throughout the central European alpine region from northern Spain through to the Dolomites and the mountains of eastern Europe, possibly as far as Russia. It can be found in damp or wet conditions on alkaline or mildly acidic substrates in lowland sites or upland areas up to a height of approx 2000 meters.
It is a species that can vary greatly in its vegetative characteristics but seems to be strangely consistent in flower formation, despite frequent genetic ingression by other similar species from within the genus. The plant itself is robust and the inflorescence, although sturdy is not particularly tall or dense, carrying flowers that are not strikingly marked and appear to be more uniformly purple than Dactylorhiza alpestris which has a distinct and more extensive white peripheral area surrounding the stigmatic cavity.
The leaves are normally dark green and heavily spotted with purple or dark brown blotches on the upper sides, though this cannot be taken as diagnostic as there are recorded examples of both non spotted examples and those with heavy double sided blotching.

The specifications reflected this objective: the new tower had to be constructed entirely of metal, be at least ten meters high, include a shelter and be resistant to all forms of vandalism.
Instead of a classic construction with a spiral staircase, the designer designed a suspended volume without too many decorative frills. The "Vlooybergtoren", as it is called, is 11.28 meters high (the upper platform overhangs 10.08 meters + guardrail wall of 1.20 meters) and is built on a coated galvanized substructure. of patinated steel, a subtle allusion to the typical brown-red. color of the iron stone in the Hageland region. In total, the imposing staircase tower weighs no less than thirteen tons.
In the designer's own words, the modeling of the Vlooyberg Tower was "a war against its own weight". To ensure that the structure would be strong enough and not sag, he would manually calculate the forces acting on each element. His findings gave the staircase tower its ultimate shape and dimensions. The structure evolves from big, heavy and strong, to small, light and thin. The guardrail wall functions as a structural beam which gives the steel structure sufficient strength and stability to withstand the forces acting on it. Two vibration dampers ensure that the stair tower does not start to vibrate underfoot.
The structure was completely prefabricated and assembled on site section by section. In the end, the installation only took half a day. As a monument of high iconic value, the Vlooyberg Tower highlights, literally and figuratively, the profile of the beautiful region around Tielt-Winge. Tielt residents, wealthy passers-by and lovers of modern architecture greatly appreciate this fascinating monument.

This is a charming street scene of the city, which has distinct identity in featuring a unique blend of three artistic and culture movements during the last five centuries; the Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau. And, also it has another unique influence of architectural contribution of the renowed architect Jože Plečnik.
I loved every corner of Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia.
Most small Wisconsin towns feature these visually distinct yet structurally aligned downtown buildings, as the cheapest way to build but able to show some individuality.
Narrow but deep lots would tend to build up around certain gathering spots (churches, railroads) leading to this common downtown look.
Wisconsin tends to be known for "Brick facades, modest ornamentation and cream city block" and of course food, beer, brats and hardware.
Being from California this style of building has long since been abandoned due to our earthquakes, so interesting to see.
Your comments and faves are greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Eastern Spinebill
Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris
The Eastern Spinebill sometimes hovers like a hummingbird when feeding on the nectar from flowers. Most Australian honeyeaters feed on flowers from a perched position.
Description: The Eastern Spinebill is most easily recognised by its very long, fine, down-curved beak and energetic flight, during which its white outer tail feathers are prominent. Males have a grey-black crown which extends in a black line on either site of the breast. The breast and throat are white, with a rufous patch in the centre of the throat. The wings and lower back are dark grey and the underparts and upper back are buff. Females are similar to males but have less distinct markings.
Similar species: Crescent Honeyeater, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater, Western Spinebill (in Western Australia)
Distribution: The Eastern Spinebill's range is generally east of the Great Dividing Range from Cooktown in Queensland to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia
Habitat: The Eastern Spinebill prefers heath, forest and woodland.
Seasonal movements: Largely sedentary, but undergoes some local movements, especially away from higher elevations in autumn/winter.
Feeding: The Eastern Spinebill feeds on insects and nectar while perched or while hovering. Nectar is obtained from a wide array of flowers, including grevilleas, but its beak is particularly well-suited to extracting nectar from tubular flowers such as epacrids.
Breeding: The Eastern Spinebill's nest is a small cup of twigs, grass and bark, combined with hair and spider's web, built in a tree fork, generally between 1 and 5 metres from the ground. Only the female builds the nest and incubates the eggs, but both parents feed the young when they hatch.
Calls: Short, repeated, high-pitched piping.
Minimum Size: 15cm
Maximum Size: 16cm
Average size: 16cm
Average weight: 11g
Breeding season: August to January
Clutch Size: 2
Incubation: 14 days
Nestling Period: 14 days

"ice contains no future , just the past, sealed away. As if they're alive, everything in the world is sealed up inside, clear and distinct. Ice can preserve all kinds of things that way- cleanly, clearly. That's the essence of ice, the role it plays."

Here sits the remnants to history of a company office, from the by-gone era of a once thriving local logging industry. The standing structures, all but gone, masonry remnants, strewn & scattered. Covered in weeds, twisted in vines. Mortar seeps through the cracks, of old earthen covered bricks. A rusty nail, a broken tile, and a dirty flimsy shingle. Take a rest to stop and think to decades gone-by. Distinct echoes of human chatter, the sawmill whistle, to the whirling and whining of saw blades, grinding as they split through fresh cut wood. The clatter as the lumber stacks, ready to ship away to distant places. The horn blowing sound of a locomotive, as the wheels begin to turn in rotation in forward motion. The work day for them ends, to the sound of the sawmill whistle.

The black-browed albatross is very distinctly marked with its black eyebrow, but also the black plumage on both sides of its wings. It is one of the smaller albatross species, with a wingspan of just over 2m.
When searching for food, this species follows a regular flight pattern, somewhat resembling a figure 8. The effortless way it harnesses the wind to glide is amazing to watch. Nary a wingbeat.

Where there is love there is life - Mahatma Gandhi
The term true lover's knot, also called true love knot is used for many distinct knots.
The association of knots with the symbolism of love, friendship and affection dates back to antiquity.
A knot on the bottom ends in a heart.
For the season of Love, give it some extra.
Hope this brings a bit of joy again rather than Angst which I see in so many images and news.
Have a wonderful day, filled with love, M, (*_*)

View on a distinct landmark in Enkhuizen, North Holland, The Netherlands:
The harbour tower "Dromedary'' or in Dutch "Dromedaris"
seen from the IJsselmeer.
This city gate dates from 1540 and was part of the city wall.
Its original name was '' Zuiderpoort or Ketenpoort''. It had been built to protect Enhkuizen form the Spanish invaders and later also served as a prison, storage space and the first post-office of Enkhuizen.
The church in the background is called Saint Pancras or Zuiderkerk with the 75 m high tower being built in 1450. Originally, it wasn't this high, but in 1526 the octagonal section and onion dome were added. It also has a 45 bell carillon.
The mallard (/ˈmælɑrd/ or /ˈmælərd/) or wild duck (Anas platyrhynchos) is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand and Australia. This duck belongs to the subfamily Anatinae of the waterfowl family Anatidae.
The male birds (drakes) have a glossy green head and are grey on wings and belly, while the females have mainly brown-speckled plumage. Mallards live in wetlands, eat water plants and small animals, and are gregarious. This species is the ancestor of most breeds of domestic ducks.
Both male and female mallards have distinct iridescent purple blue speculum feathers edged with white, prominent in flight or at rest, though temporarily shed during the annual summer moult. Upon hatching, the plumage colouring of the duckling is yellow on the underside and face (with streaks by the eyes) and black on the backside (with some yellow spots) all the way to the top and back of the head. Its legs and bill are also black. As it nears a month in age, the duckling's plumage will start becoming drab, looking more like the female (though its plumage is more streaked) and its legs will lose their dark grey colouring.

I was excited to see this extensive stabilimentum, which was tinted distinctly green in my flashlight's beam. I wonder what gives some spider webs a color? I find this species of spider extremely cute for some reason; I think it's the dainty pose of their feathered forelegs, and apparent "fur". I also noticed while looking at this latest batch of photos how perfectly their forelegs are suited to this pose, being bowed in a way that leaves room for the face between while allowing them to come together forward of that.
I had the pleasure of watching a presentation by Sarah Stellwagen on spiders the other night, particularly on spider silk. However, she was yet another expert telling us that the experts aren't really sure what the purpose of stabilimenta is. Uloborus spiders apparently make a variety of different stabilimenta types.

Fresh out of the husk…
The field poppy (Papaver rhoeas), like this here, has always been a symbol of death and rebirth, and no other flower combines exquisite delicacy of tissue with such a vibrant blaze of colour.
Whenevere the ground is disturbed - be it by First World War shells or the plough - poppies will grow.
Each flower will produce around 17,000 seeds, of which around 3,000 will remain viable and dormant in untilled ground for at least a century before bursting into flower when the ground is disturbed and the seeds are exposed to light.
Poppies are flowering plants with delicate, papery petals in a variety of shapes and vibrant hues.
There are more than 70 distinct species in the poppy (papaver) genus, including opium poppies (Papaver somniferum), corn poppies (Papaver rhoeas) and Oriental poppies (Papaver orientale).
Poppies are an excellent addition to mixed beds, borders and cut arrangements.
Thank you and have a fabulous day, M, (*_*)

I'm kind of excited about these little chickadee's there is a pair hanging around this year, and this one is checking out a possible place to nest. They are about half the size of a sparrow and don't sit still very long, which makes it hard to catch them in the frame. They like to excavate their own nests in dead wood, and the have a very distinct chirp!
As dusk approaches, the warm sunset illuminates the Queensboro or 59th Street Bridge, in this image of the portion that runs from Roosevelt Island to Queens, the old Ravenswood Key Span Electrical Generation Plant’s three distinct red and white smoke stacks visible on the left or western part of the span a plant that was originally built by Con Edison in the 1960’s.
It was officially named the Ed Koch Queensboro bridge back in 2011 while the former New York City Mayor who was instrumental in bringing New York City from the brink of bankruptcy was still alive; he since has passed in 2013. It is one of the four great East River Bridges and the only one that is not a suspension bridge. The Queensboro Bridge is actually a five span cantilever bridge that opened in 1909. The first proposal for a span over the East River over what at that time was called Blackwell ‘s Island (Roosevelt Island) was actually in 1838, to connect Manhattan and Long Island City. The renown John Roebling who would later design the Brooklyn Bridge proposed in 1856 two 800 foot suspension bridges linked by a cantilever on Blackwell’s Island. In fact, when this project stalled a year later, John Roebling made his first proposal for a span between Brooklyn and New York (aka Manhattan). Interestingly enough on April 16th, 1867 both the New York & Brooklyn Bridge Company (the group directing the Brooklyn Bridge) and New York & Long Island Bridge Company (the group directing the Blackwell’s Island bridge) received state charters from the State of New York. The Brooklyn Bridge project moved forward and with some difficultly, tragedies, and a long construction time as I’ve outlined in images of that bridge eventually opened in the 19th Century.
The Blackwell Island Bridge? Well proposals were presented in during the decade of the 1880’s and 1890’s that were eventually all rejected. It was not until 1902, when New York City Mayor Seth Low appointed renown bridge engineer Gustav Lindenthal the city’s commissioner of the new Department of Bridge, when as one of his first acts in office was to propose a rail bridge over the East River. The proposed bridge would link the Harlem Line (still around as part of the Metro-North Railroad) and Austin Corbin’s Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Lindenthal sought the collaboration of the Williamsburg Bridge Engineers Leffert L. Buck and Henry Hornbostel and proposed a twin cantilever design for the Queensboro bridge believing that design to be sound for rail traffic. So a year later, Gustav Linenthal presented the final design proposal which were 2 large cantilever spans of 1,182 feet and 984 feet joined by a 630 foot cantilever span over Blackwell’s Island. There would also be approached on each end, 469.5 feet in Manhattan and 459 feet in Queens making the total length an amazing 7,449 feet. The bridge would be supported by four 350 foot steel towers built on stone piers.
So after more than half a century since the initial proposal, finally there was an approved proposal so the building of the spans could move forward, or would they? The construction was plagued with a number of delays. Lindenthal was removed as commissioner by a new mayor, a portion of an uncompleted section collapsed during a violent windstorm. There was a steel strike and union saboteurs placed dynamite on the bridge protesting the bridges open-shop policy. Finally in 1907, another cantilever bridge that was being built the Quebec Bridge collapsed raising the concern of not only engineers but New Yorkers as well. After all the concerns were vetted out and some redesign, the bridges final link was completed in 1908 five years after the final design proposal by Lindenthal was accepted. The bridge actually opened on March 30, 1909, with two levels. The top level had two elevated rail lines, the lower level had two trolley lines on the outer lanes. On the lower level in between the trolley lines were 4 lanes for vehicular traffic. The rail lines ran until 1940 and the rail lines were removed in 1942. The trolley line on the Queensboro bridge was the last trolley line in New York City and ran until 1955 when the Roosevelt Island Bridge was built connecting Queens and Roosevelt Island. The bridge was declared and designated a national landmark on November 23, 1973, and subsequently the New York Department of Transportation put together a multi-level plan to rebuild the bridge where necessary, fortify it so it would last well into the 21st century. This is another span that I have driven and walked across and every year during the Bike New York 5 Boro Bike Tour the 31,000 cyclists cross utilize the Queensboro Bridge to cross from Manhattan into Queens which I have done four times. This particular vantage point is from Roosevelt Island.

It was a real treat to photograph this bird today at Stewertby Lake. It made 5 dives, two of which it managed to catch a roach or maybe rudd. Much of the time the gulls were mobbing it but it was all taken in its stride seemingly not bothered by their noisy presence.
Traits distinctifs
Large solar prominences were on display during totality. Incredible to capture some corona loops and prominences in my images. I wasn't expecting the prominences to be that distinct. This was taken 3 seconds before third contact. The bright light on the lower right is the sun just starting to peak past the moon's edge. Baily's Beads and then a diamond ring was visible in that spot a few seconds later.
tech details: 7 frames stacked; camera tracked using the iOptron SkyGuider Pro. The tracker and stacking worked great to make the detail of the loops visible.
Saudade has no direct English translation; its translation is dependent on context. It originates from the Latin word solitatem (loneliness, solitude), but developed a different meaning. Few other languages in the world have a word with such meaning, making saudade a distinct mark of Portuguese culture. It has been said that this, more than anything else, represents what it is to be Portuguese. In his book In Portugal of 1912, A.F.G Bell writes: “ The famous saudade of the Portuguese is a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness."
The distinct bulk of Ingleborough dominates the skyline as 66716 heads past Blea Moor signal box with the 6S00 Clitheroe – Mossend loaded cement tanks. As was the theme on this afternoon the sun went in just before the train appeared (note that Ingleborough is bathed in sunlight!) - ho hum.
Note that the area around the house has been tidied up somewhat in post processing to remove some unsightly decrepit caravans from the shot.

Since May 2015, the municipality of Tielt-Winge -Belgium, in Flemish Brabant, has been a place that bears witness to the uniqueness of landscape architecture. A fascinating structure that softens the distinction between a tower and a staircase floats above the famous Kabouterbos (fairytale forest) and attracts the curiosity of many residents and passers-by of Tielt. The fascinating volume of the steel is coated with stainless steel from top to bottom.
The Chevrolet Camaro is an automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car and some versions also as a muscle car. It went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang. The car shared its platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced for 1967. Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009. [source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Camaro]
