The University of Illinois Springfield - Visual Arts Gallery welcomed the Chicago-based collaborative team, Industry of the Ordinary, for a provocative performance and time-based installation that consisted of a firearm encased in a butter sculpture on January 31, 2013. The exhibition will be on display through February 21.
As Des Moines Public Schools completes the school year through distance learning, making sure every student can make use of online educational resources has been a big priority. For example, over the course of two weeks in April, DMPS distributed nearly 21,000 laptop computers to students. In addition, providing student with internet access is just as important. DMPS is working with Mediacom to address this need. The school district is providing “hotspots” to students as a temporary solution as Mediacom then connects nearly 2,000 households to cable modems. The effort is being funded by DMPS, Mediacom, and the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
We followed along as Matt Watrous, a Meidacom Technician, completed work to connect students with internet on Thursday, April 30th.

U.S. Naval War College student's welcome reception, August 24, 2022. Six individual receptions took place over three days and allowed students, faculty and staff to meet each other. NWC features a one-year graduate-level program that graduates about 600 in-resident and 1,000 distance learning students each year. Students earn Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) credit and either a diploma or a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies or Defense and Strategic Studies.
