The distance I'm from the land is pretty far , now why a tire is stranded here god only knows , but life goes on and now its part of nature
Photo used by kind permission of Trevor Ermel. His caption reads:
"63346 (Class Q6) heading west at Derwenthaugh (between Dunston and Blaydon) with a coal train for Stella South power station on 20th May 1967. I think it was recovering from a signal stop, hence the steam from the cylinder drains cocks. The bridge is over the River Derwent, flowing into the Tyne on the left. The buffer stop on the right was part of the NCB's Derwenthaugh system, which I got to know once steam on BR had finished in this part of the country in September 1967."
Derwenthaugh signal box can be seen on the right just after the bridge over the River Derwent. The engine has just passed signal no. 58 and the fine array of signals in the area can be seen in the distance.

In the distance, endlessly,
As far as eyes can roam and flee,
No soul can name what lies in me
Nobody knows me but me.
30 Day Challenge: From a Distance
Not thrilled with this shot, but it's what I have. So, day 178: CHECK!
Looks a little better on black. (and I mean little)
Morphing lenticular cloud over the eastern Sierra. This cloud would join as one then break up it did this in one spot most of the day.
One of the best places to visit (when there's good skies and warm weather) is the Cleveland Dam area. There is a large river ( the Capilano) that is dammed up creating a large reservoir.
In the near foreground you have Grouse Mountain and in the distance you should have a nice view of the two "Lions" which are the snow-capped peaks in this image.
Vancouver is beautiful - definitely add it to your "bucket list".
Looking towards LA from Inspiration Point in the Angeles Mountains. Lots of haze, kind of reminded me of the Appalachians.
“It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.” ~ From A Distance ~ Bette Midler

Last night storm: in spite of the distance and of the rain drops on my camera, at last I got some of them...
"L" large view
The Indiana Northeastern picked up a total of 63 cars from the NS in Montpelier. Glad the heavy pipe loads were at the front end. The distance signal is for the NS mainline, Montpelier is only a few miles to the east.
