The technology that powers landline telephones in the UK will be switched off in 2025. Landline operators in the UK will switch every home phone in the UK to an internet-based connection instead of a traditional copper-wire landline.
The main road through the village - closed on and off for over a month! If it hasn't started in your area it will.
I bet this leads to no end of complications (and probably expense).
I wonder if they will take down all the old overhead copper lines? the copper must be worth a fortune, (the telephone network in the UK has been in use since 1876).

September 2023 will see Openreach issue a full ‘Stop Sell’ of new supply and there will be no new lone installation for ISDN.
What happens in 2025?
It will be imperative that you switch to alternative solutions by this date, in order to avoid ultimately being left without a service. Your provider should be aiming to migrate all services and offer alternative solutions.

To many, my photographs may suggest that I'm someone who walks the hills capturing scenes as I find them. This certainly hasn't been true in recent years, with the desire not to miss an opportunity often leading to me remaining stationary for sometimes hours. What 'hillwalker' hangs around in the same place more than they actually walk in the course of a day? The joys of hillwalking are becoming a distant memory, as I now find that my camera is indispensable &, as such, the photography will inevitably disrupt any ambitions to cover any remotely satisfying distance. There are days, though, that sometimes provide a small opportunity to turn the clock back & indulge in a bit of exploration.
With the confidence of knowing that the day was set fair, & that I had hours to spare before things got interesting approaching sunset, I set about climbing little Beinn Duirinnis, a hill that rises abruptly behind the village of Bonawe. I had surmised, looking at the map, that its higher slopes may yield a useable photogenic outlook over Loch Etive; one that could be tangibly 'different' from my other favoured places. Duirinnis's rocky summit provided magnificent views all round & satisfied the child-like explorer in me no end, but, here's the thing: with each upwardly step on the hill, my intended subject matter, Starav, sank into the mass of high hills that lay beyond, its lordly dominance over the head of Loch Etive just slowly collapsing. I had plenty of time to retrace my steps, thankfully, bidding farewell to a memorable hill-top as I descended to all but a couple of hundred feet above the loch, to the spot you see above. The normal instinct to gain height can sometimes lead the photographer astray.
By the way, this is my favourite photograph from the whole winter just past.
In the midst of the Lassen National Forest of Northern California, miles away from much, the peacefulness is disturbed as one of the scarce amount of trains for the day traverses the BNSF Gateway sub up the 1.6% grade to Halls Flat, California. With temperatures just under 100 degrees and just over 12,000 tons on the drawbar, all five General Electric motors on this Pasco, Washington to Fresno, California manifest are giving all the got, disrupting the infinite noiseless land of the Lassen National Forest.
Everything was going smoothly until you came along!

A low framed capture from a local riverbank. I wanted to achieve a level of confusion and disorder within the frame combining elements of focus, glare, light, darkness and precision.
Objects are purposefully at variable points in and out of focus as well as depth in colour definitions and elements of brightness and glare (without any clipping). I wanted to include sun and deliberate lens flare. Thus making (or attempting should I say) the viewer to find complexity and confusion within the image. (Hopefully in a good way)
Can that all even work together in a single frame without heavy post processing?!

This group were walking in an orderly manner when one snapped or trod on a toe prompting a brief rough and tumble. The walker has the leashes attached to her belt, perfect with no disruptions, but a bit difficult with misbehavior.
All was soon under control.
