In 1775, by order of the Granduke Peter Leopold of Lorraine, the La Specola Museum was inaugurated and opened to the public under the name of Imperial Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History, a name which is still visible on the arch over the main door at via Romana 17. Though the Medicis began the Florentine natural history collections it was the Hapsburg Lorraines who gave them esteem and consistency. In 1771 the size of the collections was such that to house them the Granduke purchased the Torrigiani palazzo adjacent to the royal residence. This site - the parent of all the present day Florentine scientific museums - came to be called "La Specola" due to the construction in 1789 of a tower to be used as an astronomic observatory and which remained in use for almost one century.
I always enjoy adding a new doll to my displays. The short blonde hair girl is one I got at the Halloween Doll show and she is getting on famously with the other Liccas. I also found her the perfect pair of shoes, as her feet are a different size to my others, which are actually custom made Moondreamer doll shoes and they fit her so nicely and look so cute on her

The black stuff around the display windows is Vitrolite, which is structural glass popular in the 30s and 40s.

Art display at Thirroul Seaside festival
Went to the beach after enjoying snack foods at the seaside festival and saw this bookshelf at the side - and I thought it was strange that council put this bookshelf display there
until I realised after looking around that there are several art displays around - as part of the festival.
Fujifilm X10
My first MAC, a powermac G4 dual 450 Mhz processors, This was traded for my Praktika SLR and my Zorki, I didnt use them any more and wanted to try out a MAC. Became hooked.
I ended up picking this up at a flea market. I remember paying about $15 for it but I have had it for close to a year so I could be wrong.
I was pretty excited about picking it up as it is a pretty cool item for any game themed area.
