2016 Classic Ariel has been completely deboxed. She is standing on her fins, supported by a Kaiser stand (not included with the doll). I have left Flounder out of these photos, to see Ariel better.
Detailed photos of the new Classic Ariel doll. I love her face. But most of her hair is very stiff with hair product, so I found it hard to make it neater and fix the stray hairs. Her satin fins are okay, but there is a stained patch (glue?). I like the 2012 Classic Ariel fins better, but these new ones are definitely better than the tulle fins that most recent Classic Ariel dolls have had. Under her glittering tail, she has rubber legs, with fixed angled feet and internal click stop knees. I was going to compare her side by side with last year's Classic Ariel, but I can't find the old Ariel at the moment.

Corrected Cinderella Deluxe Doll Gift Set
US Disney Store
$79.50 US
First Look - Deboxed
The stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella have been completely deboxed. Here Anastasia is posed standing alone, and is photographed from various angles. Since her face is the only change in the doll from the previous model, I concentrate on showing her face and hair. She is supported by a doll stand (not included).
Today (Nov 19, 2012) I finally received the Disney Store's Cinderella Deluxe Doll Gift Set with the stepsisters' faces corrected. I also got the corrected Cinderella Mini Doll Set (not shown here). The corrected sets were available online about a month ago, but I waited until it was independently verified by a customer that the Disney Store was indeed shipping corrected sets. Also, I waited until I could get them during a 25% off general online sale.
Anastasia and Drizella have their faces switched to the correct bodies, that is their heads are switched, but they kept their hair and outfits. There appears to be a line across the forehead of Drizella, but I don't know if that was part of the original head mold for her or a factory defect, until I see other copies of the new set. I have not yet the corrected set in stores. Since Drizella's head originally went on Anastasia, who has a much lower hairline, that might explain the line. The line may also appear very faintly on the website's high resolution image of the dolls.
I photograph the stepsisters boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. Of course, I also pose the stepsisters side by side with their older versions.

This 10 doll set was actually released a couple of months ago in the UK, but without warning it just appeared in my local Disney Store in the US on Oct 25, 2012. It now also available online in the US Disney Store website, as of Oct 29, 2012. The US version has the dolls in reverse order, with Rapunzel in the top left slot, and Snow White in the bottom right slot. The dolls themselves appear to be identical to the UK version. They have the new faces and hairstyles, but the old bodies (with the rubber legs, and no ankle joints), and the old nearly glitter-free outfits of the 2011 set. The set sells for the old price of $99.50 US. I purchased the set, and will post photos of it boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed, and grouped with comparable dolls.

Holiday Anna is fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by the included display stand.
Detailed photos of the Olaf's Frozen Adventure Anna Limited Edition Doll. I got her from my local Disney Store on release day, Tuesday December 12, 2017, along with Elsa. I was the only one waiting for the dolls before the store opened. She is #1234 of 7000, which I think is a really cool number.
I like her a lot more than I thought I would from the stock and leaked photos. I don't think she looks goofy, even with her smirk. But I do think that her in box pose is very awkward. The nicest thing I've discovered about the doll is that she has lavender tights, which compares nicely with the green tights of FF Anna.
I show her in box, and with all the covers removed. I will debox her later. I show her next to my deboxed Frozen Fever Anna doll, who I think is closest to her in design among the Anna LE dolls.

#1706 of 2500
First Look - Personal Photos
I pre-ordered this set online on September 25, 2012, and received it on November 14, 2012. It arrived in perfect condition. I was surprised that Merida actually was on a custom doll stand that was shorter than usual, so it could support her in the sitting position that she is shown in the box. I suppose it was to make it appear that she is considerably shorter than her mother Elinor, as she is as the lead character in the Disney/Pixar movie Brave.
I photograph them boxed, during deboxing, and then fully deboxed, both alone, and with other comparable dolls.

Sergeant Calhoun LE 17'' Doll - Wreck-It Ralph

Personal Photos
Limited Edition: #175 of 1000
Released in stores and online November 2, 2012
Purchased in store on November 10, 2012.
I went to the Disney Store closest to home to buy Wreck-It Ralph merchandise, using the 25% off coupon that is good this weekend. To my surprise, they still had the Sgt. Calhoun LE 17'' doll on display. So I bought one of them, and will post photographs of her boxed, during deboxing, and finally fully deboxed. I will also attempt to remove her outfit.
Elsa has been fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser stand.
I got the Anna and Elsa Doll Set for Olaf's Frozen Adventure, from my local Disney Store on Wednesday September 27, 2017. They are in the new Holiday outfits, made of faux suede. Elsa has a cape attached to the back of her dress, and has a fur collar with embedded red jewels. Anna has a jacket that is sewn to her bodice. They both have the new style rubber legs with flat feet. Elsa has flat heeled ice shoes, which are a loose fit. Anna has boots with low heels. Anna is about 1/4 inch taller than Elsa (11 1/2 vs 11 1/4 inches), which looks awkward when they are side by side. They both have new face sculpts, for the first time since their original Classic dolls were introduced in 2013. I like how they look, but I like Elsa more than Anna. The old faces looked younger and cuter, but the new faces are more movie accurate.

Tiana has been fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by the included display stand.
Deboxing Tiana. I fixed the broken purse chain by using thread. It took me three tries and about 45 minutes to fix it so it didn't come loose again while posing her with the purse. I left the rubber band that secures the purse chain to her shoulder alone.
I received my Premiere Series Tiana doll on Friday, November 9. I had ordered her online from the Disney Store when she was released last Saturday, November 3, 2018. She is #253 of 4000. She is unusual in that her CoA number is only one greater than the Cart #252 that is on the original shipper label. All the other Premiere Series dolls so far have had an edition number 3 greater than the Cart #. The box and doll are close to perfect, except for a broken chain on her purse. I have read that this is a fairly common defect in the doll. Rather than trying to get a replacement from the Disney Store I think I will try to fix it on my own. She has a beautiful face, but the outfit is my least favorite of the series. The large yellow green cloth flower on her chest is really tacky and distracting, and covers her neck and part of her face. The neon yellow green of the skirt is also too gaudy for me, looks like a tutu, and the floral embroidery on her skirt looks childish. Her shoes are lovely, however. She is the fifth of the six doll series, with Belle being the last release in the US and Canada.
I show the box, and the doll with successive layers of the box removed, until the doll is in clear view. I will debox the doll soon.

First Look
I just received today, October 17, 2012, the full set of all six dolls of the Disney Villains Collection Doll Set, that I pre-ordered on August 20, 2012. All the dolls arrived in perfect condition. They are all numbered #278 of 13,000. I photograph all the dolls in their cases, in group shots. They intend to leave these dolls as they are, untouched. I am not even going to open up the cases to fix stray hairs. I have bought "spares" of each of the dolls, to be completely deboxed. I pose these dolls with the pre-ordered boxed dolls. I also pair each of the villains with one of the Designer Princess dolls, which I have deboxed.
The Designer Villains and their release dates are:
September 10, 2012: Maleficent.
September 17, 2012: Evil Queen.
September 24, 2012: Queen of Hearts
October 01, 2012: Ursula.
October 08, 2012: Mother Gothel.

I debox Wedding Ariel, and show her side by side with the original Once Upon a Wedding Ariel doll, which was released in early 2011, and never re-released. This new Wedding Ariel has the new 2017 Ariel base doll, and a simplified version of the 2011 gown. She has a half length aqua green mesh veil, as opposed to the full length veil of the original. The dress is much narrower than the original, and she has white flats rather than heels. In fact, she has flat feet, which is new for Disney Store Princess dolls with rubber legs, and cannot wear heels. This is the new style for all the Disney Store classic Princess dolls, which is too bad as not even Cinderella will have heels. Finally she is missing the corsage that the original had. I have misplaced the corsage of my original doll, which is why she isn't holding one. The original Wedding Ariel is about a 1/4 inch taller than the new one because she is wearing high heels rather than flats. Their actual heights are 11 1/2 versus 11 1/4 inches.

I show my Belle doll with the outer skirt rotated to various positions, to see how it looks. I removed her purse for this experiment, so it wouldn't get in the way of rearranging her skirt. She is on her display stand, which is secured to the red carpet stage by a wire.
The Belle 12'' doll standing, supported by a Kaiser stand. She is wearing her pink winter outfit, with her cape off. Her ponytail was a bit messy after taking it out of the hood of the cape, so I combed it to make it as neat as I could. It was curly, and off center. There was a nice pink bow in her hair above the ponytail. The pink and red dress was covered in glitter, which did shed. The half length sleeves had large ruffled cuffs. Belle looks dainty in her pink dress without the cape and hood. I also left out the bluebird in these poses.
Detailed photos of the dolls in the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set, deboxed. They include the 1/6 scale Beast, Belle and Gaston dolls, and the Philippe plush. Beast and Belle are in their winter outfits. I show Beast and Belle both with and without their capes. The bluebird figurine is included with Belle when she has her cape on. Beast is not that stable free standing, so I support him with a Kaiser stand for these photos.
I just got the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Set ($79.95) from my local Disney Store (on Thursday June 30, 2016). The accessory figures look really detailed and well done. In fact, I like Chip better in this set than the one with the new Classic Belle doll. Also the bluebird looks nicer than the one with the new Classic Snow White. Belle and Beast are in their winter outfits. Belle also has her blue peasant outfit and her yellow ball gown. Beast also has his formal outfit. Philippe is way too small, but is a very cute plush. I like this set way better than the ones for Aladdin or Sleeping Beauty.

Belle is now fully deboxed. She is standing, supported by her included display stand. For some of the last photos, I decided to reverse the purse to show the rose rather than the lion. Also I placed the outer skirt a little to the left of where it was in the box pose, to show off her legs.
Deboxing Belle. After I removed the rubber band securing the purse chain to her shoulder, I had to use tape to keep it from slipping off of her shoulder (same as with Ariel's purse). Her dress is tight around her hips and legs, so I had to undo it in the back (as well as the outer skirt) in order to pull out the display stand. It was also hard to put the stand back on her. The bracelets are solid rings, so cannot be removed unless you pop off her hands, which I did not try to do.
I was lucky enough to get Belle at the Disney Store today. There was about 70 people entered in the raffle, the most of any release in the series, so I was surprised and happy that I got picked. She is the sixth and final Premiere Series doll to be released. She is #1132 of 4500. I now have all six of the dolls, all gotten first hand, and am glad that the releases are finally over.
I love Belle's face and hair, her Beast purse and her jewelry, but her dress isn't one of my favorites from this series. My doll has some stains on her face, that look like stray hair product. I will clean them off when I debox her. Some strands of her earrings were stuck in her hair, that I freed when I took all the covers off the doll box.

Designer Cruella De Vil Doll In Display Case
At my Disney Store, the right to buy Maleficent today was ''raffled'' off to twenty lucky people. There were maybe 30-40 people entered, and I was not one of the winners. So I will have to get her online tonight. There were a total of 13,000 of each doll produced, so there should be no problem getting a doll online.
Individual dolls may be purchased online and in stores beginning on September 10, 2012, and ending on October 15. One doll will be made available on in stores Monday of each week. Then on Tuesday (at 12 am Pacific Time) that doll will be available online. Here is the list of the dolls and their release dates:
September 10, 2012: Maleficent, from Sleeping Beauty (1959).
September 17, 2012: Evil Queen, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
September 24, 2012: Queen of Hearts, from Alice in Wonderland (1951).
October 01, 2012: Ursula, from The Little Mermaid (1989).
October 08, 2012: Mother Gothel, from Tangled (2010).
October 15, 2012: Cruella de Vil, from One Hundred and One Dalmations (1961).

Deboxing LE Elena. All covers are removed, leaving her on the cardboard backing, which is free standing.
I got the Elena of Avalor LE 17 inch Doll from my local Disney Store on the release day, Tuesday November 21, 2017. I went to my store at 11:30 am, instead of my usual line up before the store opens for LE doll releases. There were three of the doll behind the counter, but placed sideways and with no promo placard. So it wasn't obvious that there was a Limited Edition doll release today. The CM I bought the doll from didn't seem to know anything about the release, so I don't know how many dolls the store got in, how many they sold, or how many were remaining. I took the first doll that was handed to me, since the doll looked perfect to me. She is #1375 of 6000.

It now also available online in the US Disney Store website, as of Oct 29, 2012. Once upon a time, there was a Disney backed toyline known as Infinity, which strived to take a chunk of the "Game to life" market away from the market leading Amiibo by Nintendo. Utilizing a video game that worked in conjunction with little statues (each sold separately), Disney would go on to create entries for many of the properties it had access to, such as the Avengers, Stars Wars, and of course, the countless Disney movies themselves. Disney made it up to Infinity 3.0, only to learn that it takes more than just variety of statues to make for an endearing game experience. Sales were not at the level they liked, so Disney scrapped the line and liquidated all outstanding stock at it's various dealers.
While the Infinity story didn't end in a good way, it DID allow for the birth of something else: the Disney Toybox line.
You see, the one saving grace of the Infinity line is that it introduced toys with an interesting aesthetic. To put it in laymans terms, they took existing characters and Pixar-ed them. Someone at Disney saw the potential of toys utilizing this art style, and a line of action figures was developed. It's now been two years since the Toybox line was announced, and there does not seem to be any slowing down.
My first purchase of the line was, surprise, the Black Widow which was a combination of her Avengers hair coupled her Civil War outfit and weaponry from Infinity War. But it was a kids toy so the lack of adherence to one particular Widow wasn't a big deal. As mentioned, it was the art style that really sold the figure to me because from a technical perspective and quality provided, it's really just alright.
Fast forward about 2 years, and I have introduced a second figure into the line up - Captain Marvel, which I learned about while browsing Instagram.
These figures are only available through the Disney Store (well, officially anyway) which makes buying them somewhat of a pain. Fortunately, living in Toronto, I have access to no less than 4 physical locations, which is great because if I had to pay shipping I'd probably have zero figures. Price wise, they're in between a basic Hasbro figure and a Legends. They're slighly smaller than a Figuarts, and as such are definitely shorter than a Legends figure.
This Captain Marvel figure is based more on the comic character rather than the Brie Larson version, as evidenced by the uniform and the hair, though who knows, maybe the artists used some Endgame screen caps as inspiration. The set comes with the figure, helmeted and unhelmeted head, as well as Goose with tentacle attachment. I feel that these figures are a good example of the "less is more" mentality, as the highly simplified designs with bright colours are definitely more attractive to me than the Legends stuff.
Articulation isn't going to win any awards, but to be fair, it's not like they were aiming for highly articulated with these releases. Officially, each figure has 14 points of articulation, which include ankles, single jointed knees that can rotate, hips, waist, standard should, single jointed elbows that can rotate, rotating wrists, and head joint. While there are head options, there are no hands to swap out. You can get some decent poses out of the figure, but overall it's on par with what you'd get out of your Legends figures, though I think the knees on the Legends would be better due to their double jointed nature.
Paint is.. well, it's mass marketed Disney Store merch. It's functional, but definitely not what I would call pretty. Due to budget cuts, Disney didn't even bother painting the lips on the helmeted sculpt, something I tried to rectify with a Sharpie to mixed results, but lets face it, a paint app by Disney might be just as bad anyway. But hey, I think I should get credit for at least choosing a red that works with the figure quite well. The average to below average expectations extend to the quality of the materials used as well, though at the very least the Toybox figures don't suffer from the weak knees of the Hasbro figures.
Overall, the bodies come out alright, but I feel that the sculpting and finishes on the heads themselves are actually batting above their weight class, even if they're missing a paint app or two, thanks to the large expressive eyes that generally are finished decently on all figures that I've seen.
Goose doesn't really do much other than stand there, but he's a neat addition to the set. I guess some flaming fists effects would have been nice, but they would have had to make two unique designs seeing how Captain Marvel has two different hands.
So that was a very quick overview of the Disney Toybox line and Captain Marvel herself. If you're a fan of any Disney property and you like action figures, I highly recommend that you at least check these figures out. For me, they certainly aren't good enough quality and articulation wise to be a main collectible, but as a companion piece to higher end figures or perhaps as a travel companion piece for some photography, they fit the bill quite well.
I got Ariel today. I ordered her online on release day, October 27, 2018. She is #2047 of 4500. She and the box arrived in perfect shape. However, the invitation card has slipped down in the plastic sleeve, and won't stay up. I love her face and hair, but her dress is a bit too gaudy for my taste, although it is appropriate for an 80's girl. Her hair is stiff at the ends to keep its curl, so it got a little messy when I broke it up to even out her hair in the back. I cut off the rubber band securing the purse string to her shoulder. I had to use a little tape to keep it from sliding off her shoulder afterwards. I show her boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I have her now on my desk, right next to me as I type this. It is convenient that I got her just before the next one, Tiana, is released tomorrow.

Designer Mother Gothel Doll In Display Case
