Just picked up a Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
People will know how much I love the Rapunzel DS sculpt it bordered on an obsession 2011-2012.
This has to be the last one for my collection - I wonder how she looks?
Naveen has been deboxed, and it is Tiana's turn. Her dress is untacked from the cardboard backing at the base of the display stand. The next step is to free her from the doll stand. Raising her skirt, you can see that she has tissue paper wrapped around her legs, and wires around her ankles and knees. You can also see the tulle petticoat, and her 2012 style legs. She is wearing dark olive green flats. Tiana has been freed from the doll stand, and is laid down on a counter.
Deboxing the Tiana and Naveen doll set. First its protective cover sleeve taken off. Then the acrylic top cover of the display case is removed. It is loosened from the tabs on the bottom of the case, then slowly slid off the cardboard backing. The dolls are now in clear view. They are attached to the backing and various plastic spacers. Next the backing is cut open, so that the dolls can be released from the backing. Then the dolls are freed from the backing, but are still attached to the display stand and plastic spacer. Then the dolls are freed from the spacer. The hardest part, as usual, was freeing Tiana's head from the spacer, by cutting the tiny plastic tabs embedded in the back of her head. The dolls are still attached to the doll stand. Tiana's dress is also pinned to the cardboard backing at the base of the display stand. Photographed in daylight.
I purchased the Tiana and Naveen Disney Fairytale Designer Doll Set at my local Disney Store, on its release day, Tuesday September 23, 2014. There were only five persons entered in the drawing, and the store had 15 sets to sell. I got my set and opened it up at the register to make sure everything looked good. They looked perfect to me. I took a quick photo, with permission from the CM. In better lighting, the gold embroidery in her dress was much more impressive than I remembered it from looking at the display dolls. I also looked at the back, and it was #4872 of 6000. That was a nice number to me, so I declined the offer from the CM to look at another set to see if it had a lower number. I will photograph the set boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I will also show the set next to other comparable dolls.

My newly acquired Jasmine and Aladdin 12'' Dolls, from the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, have landed on my desktop doll display. They are not yet deboxed, but have the acrylic cover removed from their display case. They have joined the many dolls already there from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, including three limited edition Snow White dolls, and two Prince dolls. The new dolls replace Designer Princess Snow White and Classic Prince dolls.
All dolls are deboxed, and are all by the Disney Store. The following lists all the dolls in this photo, their heights, their movie (unless it's obvious from the name of the doll), and the year of the doll's release.
1st row
- Jasmine and Aladdin Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls (2013)
- Wedding Rapunzel Limited Edition 17'' doll (from Tangled Ever After, 2012)
2nd row
- Snow White and the Prince D23 Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls (2013)
- Snow White and the Prince Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls (2013)
- Celebration Merida Limited Edition 18'' doll (from Brave, 2012)
3rd row
- Snow White Limited Edition 17'' doll (2009)
- Cinderella Limited Edition 18'' doll (2012)
- Belle Limited Edition 17'' doll (from Beauty and the Beast, 2010)
D23 Designer Coronation Elsa and Hans have been fully deboxed, and are back in their original display stand. They are now both facing forward, in more natural poses than the original boxed poses. You can also see the full extent of Elsa's outfit, as it is no longer restricted to be inside of the case.
The cape is magenta with a black embroidery and magenta jewels, and is fully lined with magenta satin. Her skirt is teal with multicolored embroidery and jewels, and is also fully lined. Her separate bodice matches the skirt in color and decorations, and has the black blouse sewn to it. She is wearing blue green stretch gloves, so she is fully covered up. She is holding the royal golden orb and scepter, attached by rubber bands to her hands. Finally she has a golden crown with a blue gem in the center.
Photos of the D23 Exclusive Designer Elsa and Hans doll set. I purchased it on its release day, Friday August 14, 2015. It is Limited Edition and cost $129.95. My set is #758 of 1023. It is part of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, but is a variant of the LE 6000 version. This D23 version has Elsa and Hans in their coronation outfits. The regular version has Elsa in her Snow Queen outfit, and Hans in his normal gray outfit, and will be released in stores and online on October 27-28, 2015.
Hans is in white, and Elsa is in teal and purple. Elsa is also holding her golden coronation orb and scepter. They are posable 12'' dolls. They are supported by built in doll stands, and inside of a display case with a golden nameplate and protected by a clear acrylic cover, with a fully illustrated slipcover over that.
Elsa is very similar to the Limited Edition Coronation Elsa 17'' Doll that was released in March 2014. One big difference is that Designer Elsa has her royal orb and scepter, and a blue jewel in her crown, that are missing from the 17'' doll.
The regular edition of the Designer Fairytale Snow White and the Prince Doll Set join their D23 special edition counterparts. They are both fully deboxed, and have been replaced in their display stands in normal standing poses. To make room for the new dolls, the Frozen dolls have been removed, and the rest of the dolls moved to new positions.
All dolls are deboxed except for the long-lashed Wedding Rapunzel, who I have kept boxed. All the dolls are Disney Store limited editions.

Here Tinker Bell and Zarina have the slip cover and top acrylic cover of their display cases taken off, so they are in the clear. They are temporarily next to my computer desk, in front of my Harrods Anna and Elsa Doll Set. It is curious that both sets of dolls consist of a blonde and a redhead. Photographed using built in flash.
First look at my Tinker Bell and Zarina Limited Edition Designer Dolls. My Tinker Bell is number 2710 of 4000, and my Zarina is 0137 of 4000. There were no designer bags, as there were in the previous Designer doll collections.
My visit to my local Disney Store on Februay 18, 2014. I was there for the release of the Disney Fairies Designer Collection dolls. I also noticed that they had several items in the Frozen section that had been missing for several weeks, especially the mugs and Classic Anna dolls, but no Elsas.
They had eight of each Designer Fairy doll, Tinker Bell and Zarina. There were about that many people waiting in line before the store opened, waiting to buy them. I didn't do an actual count, but no one left the line when it was announced how many dolls there were, so there were probably seven or eight of them in the line. They had no designer bags, so they just put them in regular Disney Store bags.
I inspected my dolls, and they looked in perfect condition. I was surprised by their shiny pearly skin (similar in texture to LE Ursula and Harrods Elsa), but they looked very beautiful. The artwork on the boxes were also very beautiful, but the backgrounds behind the dolls were plain looking. The CM had to help me take off the slip cover of the Zarina doll, as it was very tight. She said all the Zarinas seemed to be that way.
Below is information from the UK Disney Store website, as the dolls are not yet available online in the US site.

Designer SQ Elsa and Hans deboxed, standing side by side. Elsa is supported by a Kaiser stand. Hans is free standing.
I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.
I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.
The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.
I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

My Snow White and the Hag Doll Set is fully deboxed. Here Snow White is standing alone, supported by a Kaiser doll stand.
Detailed photos of my Snow White and the Hag Doll Set, the first in store release of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. I got it today in my local Disney Store raffle. The set is #2595 of 6000.
Snow White's in box pose is stiff, with her face pointing up too much, and her curly hair messy, especially on the right. She has the 2012 Classic Princess style body, with hard plastic legs, external hinge knee joints, and ball jointed ankles. She has golden yellow flats, matching the color of her skirt. She has a full length velvet cape with satin lining.
The Hag (or Witch) has a unique body and limbs. Similar to the DFDC Beast doll, she has an awkward stance if free standing. In fact, my doll's right leg cannot be straightened completely and her fixed ankles are bent, so her natural standing pose is stooped, making her stand about 10 inches tall. In the box pose, her feet is raised by plastic forms, so if they are removed for deboxing, her feet dangle in the air if she is reboxed. She doesn't have ankle joints, so she cannot point her toes to reach the floor of the display stand.
They did a fabulous job making the Hag an accurate representation of the animated movie character. I also like Snow White's anxious expression, which is appropriate for being next to the evil Hag. I did the best I could to make Snow's hair neater, but it is still messier than I would like. Her curly hair is heavily stiffened with hair product, so it was not easy for me to rearrange her hair using my fingers.

Cinderella and Prince Charming DFDC Doll Set. Outer sleeve removed, showing the dolls inside the clear acrylic display case. Photographed on a table outside the Disney Store right after purchase.
Disney Store Limited Edition Sleeping Beauty and Designer Cinderella Doll Releases.
October 7, 2014.
This afternoon I entered the raffle for the DFDC Cinderella and Prince Charming Doll Set. I was also there to pick up my pre-ordered Pink Aurora 17'' Doll and Diamond Edition Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. I had forgotten to bring my vouchers for the pre-orders this morning, when I got the surprise LE Sleeping Beauty dolls.
There were only 15 people entered for the raffle, and 16 doll sets, so there were no names called. Everybody waiting for the dolls just went to line up at the registers. There was a couple of people who remembered me from the morning, and one said that she missed getting the Blue Aurora by just two places (she was 14th in line for 12 dolls). She also said that a friend was at another store, where there were 57 people entered for only 16 Cinderellas.
While I was waiting for the dolls in the store, I took a couple of photos of the Designer doll display, and the ornaments tree. It is surprising to me that both Tiana and Pocahontas are still available. Tiana has lasted two weeks, Pocahontas one week. They are also still available online. My guess is that the demand for Cinderella will be the greatest, and the Mulan and Aurora designer dolls will not be as popular. So there should be no sweat getting the last two dolls in the collection.
I checked out my Pink Aurora and Cinderella dolls, and they looked good to me. Outside the store I took a couple of photos of the dolls.
D23 Designer Coronation Elsa, fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by a Kaiser doll stand, rather than on her Designer doll stand.
Deboxing the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. Captain Hook has been fully deboxed. He is free standing, with his sword in his right hand, but without his hat. His hook is permanently inserted into his left arm, in place of his left hand. As might be expected, his rooted hair is very stiff with hair product, to keep it in its unique style.
Detailed photos of the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. It was released in US Disney Stores on Tuesday October 6, 2015. I got it at my local store through the raffle. My set is #3211 of 6000. There were 18 sets available, and 3 left after the raffle.
I have now fully deboxed the set (except for Tinker Bell). I show Peter and Hook separately and together. I also place Peter and Hook back on the display stand. Hook's hat won't stay on his head, so he is without his hat in all the deboxed photos. I found that Peter has hinge jointed elbows, not ball jointed as I had thought earlier, before I deboxed him. I haven't removed the clothing of either doll, but took a peek at their lower backs, and neither has edition stamps there. The outfits of both dolls are impressive, except for Hook's hat. Hook is 12 1/4 inches tall, Peter is 10 inches tall (about the same height as the Disney Store Flutter Wing Tinker Bell dolls).

Comparison of two Zarina dolls, newly released by the Disney Store. They are both fully deboxed, and are standing side by side, supported by Kaiser stands. In the closeup views, the Classic doll is raised so her head is at the same level as the the taller Designer doll. Zarina is the title character of the upcoming Disney animated movie The Pirate Fairy. Photographed in daylight.
On the left is 2014 Zarina 10'' Flutter Wing Doll, part of the Disney Fairies Classic Doll Collection, that I purchased from my local Disney Store. She actually stands 10 1/4'' H in her boots. On the right is the Designer Zarina doll, part of the Disney Fairies Designer Collection (which right now consists of only Zarina and Tinker Bell, both released simultaneously). Even though she is listed as 11'' H, she actually stands 11 1/2'' high on the display stand, the same as previous Disney Designer Princess dolls. She also has the same body construction as the original Designer Princess dolls, with ball jointed neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hip joints. She has rubber legs with internal hinge knee jointed knees, and fixed angled feet. She has the same face mold as the Classic Zarina doll and has a very similar look. The biggest difference between them is the shiny, pearly textured skin on her face and body. Her face is shinier than the rest of her body.

The Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise was released today, September 2, 2o14. The banner has been changed from a placeholder (and coming attractions), to a scrolling banner, depicting each of the five Fairytale couples in this years collection.
The collection of merchandise is missing several items that are usually part of the Designer Collection release, and that were in last year's DFDC Part 1. The LE Pin Set was part of this year's collection, but never showed up on the collection page, and sold out in a very few minutes.

The two Gaston dolls with their shirts off. Comparison of their bodies and outfits.
Gaston from the Beauty and the Beast Deluxe Doll Gift Set (2016) is compared side by side with the Fairytale Designer Gaston Doll (2016). I was going to compare Classic Gaston with Designer Gaston, but I had Deluxe Gaston handy, and he is almost identical with the Classic Gaston (last released in 2013). I compare them both clothed and with their shirts off.
Of course the Designer Gaston has a much more detailed and impressive outfit. His shirt is faux suede, and has a closure in the front rather than the back, fits better, and has embroidery in the front. His belt is removable, with a nice looking buckle, and he has a small plastic knife that is also removable. He has a realistic looking quiver of arrows, and nice looking gloves with embroidery. His pants are stiff cloth rather than the stretch material of the Deluxe doll, so look like real pants rather than tights.
Designer Gaston has almost the same torso, and the same legs (so I left their pants on). But he has new more muscular arms, with ball jointed rather than hinge jointed elbows, and ball jointed wrist joints. His thicker arms make him a bit muscle bound, so he can't raise is arms to right angles as can the Deluxe Gaston. Designer Gaston's hands are also much more detailed and realistic. His head is smaller, and his face has a new sculpt and face paint. His hair molded with texture that makes it much more realistic than the smooth helmet hair of the Deluxe Gaston. He has a brown rather than a red ponytail band. He is also without the scruffy beard of the Deluxe (and Classic) doll. He is a better looking and more accurate representation of the animated character.

My Snow White and the Hag Doll Set, set up on a table outside of the Disney Store. Doll set uncovered. Midrange Front View.
Here are my photos of the release of the Snow White and the Hag Doll Set at my local Disney Store this afternoon. I put my raffle ticket in at 12:30 pm, got a take out lunch, and returned for the drawing of the winners shortly before 1 pm. I was called first, and for some reason this time the manager called me by my full name, which I had to pronounce for her. LOL.
As soon as I was called, I went to the one register that was handling the doll release. At first the CM was going to put the doll in the shopping bag without asking if I wanted to inspect the dolls. I had to ask him myself, and he agreed, but he said that they inspect all the dolls beforehand. Then I asked if I could take photos of my doll at the counter. He said no, that he had to keep the line moving, but I was free to take photos after paying for it. So I felt a bit rushed and did a cursory inspection. Snow's hair was a bit messy, but there were no major defects, so I put the cover back on, and paid for the doll. She is #2595 of 6000.
After I paid for the doll, I walked to a nearby rest area in the mall to take photos. There was a large table and couches and chairs there. I took a few photos, and I noticed that Snow's pose wasn't all that elegant. Her head was pointing up too much, so neither her nor the Hag were looking at anything in particular. I also noticed that her left lashes (on our right) were a bit messy, but nothing too bad.
I will debox her and of course attempt to fix her hair and pose. I will post full set of photos
of the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed shortly.
The Tiana and Naveen Disney Fairytale Designer Doll Set. The dolls have been fully deboxed, and then replaced on their original designer display stand. I have moved Tiana's hands to her sides, in the usual Disney Princess pose, from her original demure pose of her hands in front. Photo taken in dimming daylight, with additional flash lighting.

Deboxing D23 Designer Coronation Elsa. The backing has been cut open, and Elsa has been freed from it. She is still attached to the plastic form, and the doll stand. Then the backing is cut off from the base of the display stand. Next she is freed from the plastic form. Her skirt is raised to show her legs wired to the post of the doll stand, and tissue paper wrapped around her legs. She is wearing plain black flats. She is then freed from the doll stand, and laid down on the floor. Her top is opened up in the back to inspect the back of doll's torso. It is revealed that she has the body of a Classic Elsa doll, with no manufacturer's markings or edition numbers. She is also missing the twist waist of the older Designer Princess dolls. Then her skirt is raised to see her fully articulated legs and flat shoes. Her skirt and top are closed up, and with the cape to the side, to see the extent of her skirt and cape. Then the cape is placed over her dress, in its normal position. She is now fully deboxed.
I am really loving these two together. It's quite late in the evening here so they have a bright artificial light on them.
Also I was trying to work out why I was so thrown off by Beast - where are his blue eyes?!
I'll repaint them soon and see if it helps!

My pre-ordered 2016 Designer Fairytale Doll Sets. They have been untouched except for removing their slipcovers.
My Designer Zarina Doll has been fully deboxed, and put back on the display stand. The slip cover and acrylic lid of the case have been removed, and the cardboard backing has been cut off the base, so we have a clear view of the doll from all angles.
The biggest difference between them is the shine, pearly textured skin on her face and body. Her face is shinier than the rest of her body.
Her outfit is based on that of her movie character in The Pirate Fairy, and with details in the product description below. Her navy blue coat is made to look like part of the sleeve of a British Royal Navy officer (the insignia is that of a Lieutenant). Her fairy wings are a single piece of transparent plastic that is tinted pale orange, and is iridescent. It looks like a butterfly with its wings slightly folded. It is sewn to the back of her coat. Her sword is secured to her right hand by a piece of clear plastic and a rubber band, that I left as it was done by the factory. It allows the sword to held at an angle, or straight, and hold the pose.
Her hair is similar in color and style to Classic Merida, even though the movie character has much straighter hair. It has a good bit of hair product to set the curls, which makes them stiff, but the rest of her hair (on the top of her head) is smooth and soft. She has long curvy eyelashes, with antennae-like longer lashes on the outside corners of her eyes. She has thin red lips in a smirk. She has a swashbuckling attitude, and is a very beautiful and impressive looking doll.
Photographed with built in camera flash.

Zarina Disney Fairies Designer Collection Doll
US Disney Store
Purchased In Store 2014-02-18
#0137 of 4000
First look at my Zarina Limited Edition Designer Doll. My Zarina is 0137 of 4000. There were no designer bags, as there were in the previous Designer doll collections.
I visited my local Disney Store on Februay 18, 2014, for the release of the Disney Fairies Designer Collection dolls.

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set. Hans has been deboxed, leaving Elsa still attached to the display case. First we remove the large plastic support piece behind her. Then we untack her outfit from the base of the display stand. We open her cape and skirt to show her legs tied to the metal post of the built in doll stand.

D23 Elsa and Hans boxed, with the slipcover on. There is a D23 silver Mickey sticker in the front, that is starting to peel off from the cover. The loose sticker was a common problem to many of the items that I bought at the D23 Expo.
Photos of the D23 Exclusive Designer Elsa and Hans doll set. I purchased it on its release day, Friday August 14, 2015. It is Limited Edition and cost $129.95. My set is #758 of 1023. Deboxing my Snow White and the Hag Doll Set. First to be deboxed is the Hag. Snow White is now deboxed. She is laid down on the floor, with the cape over her dress. Her cape and skirt are fully extended, to show how wide they are.

My Snow White and the Hag Doll Set is fully deboxed. They are both lying down, side by side.

My "Disney Pirates We"
Cap'n Ariel 'n First Mate Eric
We be lookin' for all kinds o' treaaye!
I was joking about how I was going to make a paper pirate hat for Eric and described the sort of hat / colour I imagined for Cap'n Ariel. Little did I know the vision would appear so soon!
Thanks to redmermaidwerewolf for bringing my pirate Ariel to life!
They'll be setting sail for more adventures soon. :)
It's Of A Sailor Bold
It's of a sailor bold
And lately come on shore
Both brisk and bold
Well lined with gold
To his lover he did repair
In old and ragged dress
Unto his love did go
Unto his love
All for to prove
Whether she'll be kind or no.
My merchandise I've lost
My ship is gone astray
Which makes me fret
I'm deep in debt
Not a tenth part can I pay
Come in, my dear sit down
Put off thy ragged array
And I will be
So kind to thee
And all thy debts I'll pay
I've gold in store of my own
My debts all for to clear
I've rings I've ribbons
I've jewels so bright
And gems to trick the hair
'Twas down in Stockton Church
The happy knot was tied.
From land to land
There's no man can
Match the sailor and his bride
Deboxing my Snow White and the Hag Doll Set. The slipcover is removed, then the hard plastic cover, leaving the dolls in clear view. They are attached to the cardboard backing, plastic supports and dolls stand by wires, rubber bands and plastic ties.

The section of a local Disney Store displaying the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, on Saturday, August 24, 2013. The collection was released in stores on Monday August 19, 2013, and online last Monday, August 12, 2013. Unlike my other local store, here all of the Designer dolls were on display. They had a good supply of all the Designer mugs, which are now sold out online. They also had journals, notecards Lithograph sets and cosmetics. There was no clothing or accessories (handbags, wallets, T-shirts, etc.).
Belated posting of photos at my local Disney Store, from two weeks ago, Monday, September 14. That day the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection was released online and in stores. They had all the dolls on display, alongside their slipcovers. They also had mugs, journals, women's shirts, the Snow White handbag (but no Elsa tote bag), Ariel compact, apple necklace. They didn't have the lithographs or the Ariel smartphone wallet. The dolls were on a high shelf, so it made taking photos of them more difficult, as well as the harsh lighting. They also had the DFDC flyers available at the register counter.
Good luck to everyone trying to buy the dolls in stores tomorrow! In the US, they will have raffles in midday for a chance to buy the Snow White and Hag doll set.
D23 Designer Coronation Elsa, fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by a Kaiser doll stand, rather than on her Designer doll stand.
Her dress is closed up and she is now fully deboxed. The Beast is placed next to her. They are both now fully deboxed. Belle is placed back on the display stand, then the Beast, in the same positions that they were in. Then the Beast's doll stand is turned 90 degrees, so he is facing the same direction as Belle. I also place his hand on Belle's waist.
Now it's Belle's turn to be deboxed. There are tiny plastic tabs pinning her dress to the bottom
backing. Once her dress is freed, there are wires holding her legs to the doll stand, tissue paper wrapped around her legs and . One of her gloves is pinned to her dress, and her hair is wrapped with rubber bands, keeping it close to her neck. The wires are removed, and she is freed from the doll stand, and laid down on a counter to continue the deboxing. Her skirt is raised and the tissue paper removed from around her legs. Her dress is opened in the back to make removing the wire around her waist easier. She has no stamped numbers on her back, where they usually are for LE dolls.
The plastic spacer is then removed from the backs of the two dolls. The next step is to free the dolls from the built in doll stands. The Beast is the first to be removed. Once the wires tying him to the doll stand, and the rubber band tying him to Belle's arm are removed, the Beast is freed from the stand, which is clamped to his waist. He is placed on the counter to inspect him. There are no further fasteners to remove, except that I chose to leave the jacket sewn to the front of the shirt. He is now fully deboxed.
The cardboard backing has been cut open to reveal the ends of the various fasteners used to secure the dolls and plastic spacers to the backing. Then the large spacer is freed from the backing, and the backing is laid down flat, revealing the backs of the dolls, who are still attached to the spacer, the doll stands, and the bottom of the backing. Next the backing is cut off from the base of the display stand. The bottom of the backing is still stuck to the base with double stick tape. The backing, with the Certificate of Authenticity attached, is put away inside of the acrylic top of the case.
Deboxing my Belle and the Beast Doll Set. First the illustrated slip cover is slid off the display case, revealing the dolls inside a clear acrylic enclosure. They are secured to the built in doll stands and the cardboard backing and plastic spacers by wires, rubber bands and plastic tabs. Then the clear acrylic cover is lifted off the base. In this case I had considerable difficulty freeing the cover from the base. The tabs under the base wouldn't let go of the cover, no matter what I did, until I turned the box upside down and fiddled with the tabs while I jiggled the cover. In the process Belle's hair got a bit messy, but her hair wasn't that neat to begin with, so i smoothed it a bit before taking photos of the set uncovered.
First look at my Belle and the Beast Doll Set, part of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. Purchased from my local Disney Store through the raffle process on release day, October 1, 2013. There were 28 doll sets available, and easily three times that many people who entered. I was very lucky in that I was the next to last person to be chosen.

Quick photos of Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. They were taken outside of the Disney Store right after I purchased them. Gift bag and boxed doll set.
I stopped by my local Disney Store during my lunch break, to enter the raffle for the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. I was about the tenth one picked. It turns out that there were 18 sets available, and 3 left after the raffle.
I went to the checkout line with the other raffle winners. In contrast to last week, when they only had one register for the raffle winners, today they had three registers going, which made for a much quicker and less stressful checkout. They allowed all people to inspect the dolls before they bagged them. Mine looked good, without any noticeable defects. Tinker Bell looked like a giant gnat, hanging from the front left corner.
Afterwards, I went to a table outside the store and took a few photos before going back to work. I will take more detailed photos and post them here later tonight.
Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise. Pocahontas and John Smith Doll Set.
The Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise on display at my local Disney Store today. It was the release day, and they had all the merchandise in the collection displayed except for the LE Pin Set. All the items were for sale, except for the dolls, which will be released in store and online once a week starting on Tuesday September 23, 2014. The dolls were on a high shelf, and there wasn't a convenient place to put them for viewing a photographing them, so I made do with low angle shots. All the items were better looking in person than online, which is the norm for most Disney merchandise. Cinderella's head was turned around too much to look natural. But it wasn't quite as severe as in the stock photo of her in the display case, so I wouldn't call her Exorcist Head. Her head is definitely attached to a plastic form, so her head turn isn't a random thing that happened during shipping, but is by design. After seeing her in person, she is still my favorite of the Princesses in this release, and her dress looks great both front and back. I bought journals and the Lithograph Set, of which I will post photos shortly. The store wasn't very busy (at noon time), but everyone that looked at the Designer Collection seemed to be impressed.
Here are the release dates of the doll sets (in North America):
Sept 2, 2014. Pre-order complete collection.
Sept 23. Tiana & Prince Naveen. (Online Sep 24)
Sept 30. Pocahontas & John Smith (Online Oct 1)
Oct. 7. Cinderella & Prince Charming (Online Oct 8)
Oct. 14. Mulan & Li Shang. (Online Oct 15)
Oct 21. Aurora & Prince Phillip. (Online Oct 22).
The Alice and Queen of Hearts Doll Set. LE 6000, $129.95. It will be released in stores in North America on Tuesday October 4, 2016, and online at 12:01 am PDT October 5.
I took some photos of the display of the DFDC doll sets at my local Disney Store today (Thursday September 1, 2016). They were put on high shelves in the same section as the Art of Belle merchandise. It wasn't very impressive, especially compared to previous years' displays. There were only four sets crammed onto a couple small shelves, the cover sleeves were missing, the promo placard was small, and there were no other merchandise. The lighting in the store wasn't the best, so some of the photos that I took had distracting reflections. Also for a few of photos I had to use flash to help illuminate darker areas and eliminate some of the reflections. The manager helped me place the sets on a lower level (on top of Classic doll boxes) so I could take photos at a better angle. I've already pre-ordered the full collection, but will also be entering the bi-weekly raffles to get the dolls in store, for deboxing.
First look at the Fairytale Journals, of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, by the Disney Store. Released and purchased online on August 12, 2013. $16.95 US each.
Displayed in order of the release of their corresponding doll sets. I've just noticed that this order is exactly in reverse alphabetical order of the names of the Princesses, which is probably just a coincidence.
Ariel and Eric are now both fully deboxed. They are laid down side by side.
Ariel is next to be removed from the display stand. She is still tied to the doll stand, and her dress still tacked to the base of the stand. There was also tissue paper wrapped around her legs under her skirt. There was a tie in the back of her skirt that when cut made the skirt fuller. Her hair was in two sections in the factory packaging, but the gap was easily shaken out. There was hair product to set the curls, but her hair was still fairly soft, especially in the straighter parts. She is wearing dark blue flats, matching the color of her skirt. Her outfit was in four pieces: her blue satin skirt with gold embroidery and jewels, her corset-like blue velvet bodice also with gold embroidery and jewels, her white tulle petticoat, and her satin long sleeved blouse with lacy collar and cuffs. She has no edition number stampings, unlike Eric, but like the other Princesses in this series. She is removed from the doll stand, and laid down to partially undress her, to see the construction of her outfit, and to inspect her lower back for markings. Then her blouse and skirt are closed up, and then her bodice is put back on. She is now fully deboxed.
Eric is the first to be removed from the display stand. He is place on a counter to inspect his outfit, and partially disassemble it. First, his sash and belt are sewn together, so I cut the stitching (except for one), so I could remove it. The belt has a Velcro closure, but the sash is just tied together with the loose ends hanging like a men's tie. The belt and sash are removed, and his shirt and pants are partly opened to show his back. On his lower back is stamped his edition number and size: #1145 of 6000. He has dark blue painted on underpants, matching the color of his pants. His rolled up sleeves are sewn in that position, and has considerable fraying from the inside of the cuffs. It should be easy to free the cuffs, and roll down the sleeves. However, they don't look like they are full length, and would stop short of his wrists. His shirt and pants are then closed up. His sash and belt are placed next to him. Then his sash and belt are put back on. I had considerable difficulty redoing the sash tie so the ends would hang as nicely as before.
Deboxing my Limited Edition Ariel and Eric Doll Set, #1145 of 6000. They are in their display case, with the clear acrylic cover removed. They are attached to the cardboard backing and plastic spacer, and also supported by the built in doll stands. Then the backing is opened by cutting the tape holding the sides together.
Then the dolls are removed from the backing, but are still attached to the plastic spacer, and to the doll stand. Ariel's skirt is also tacked to the cardboard at the base of the stand. Next the backing is cut off from the base, so that we are able to view the dolls from all angles. The backing stored with the acrylic cover. Then the spacer is removed from the dolls. It is necessary to cut the plastic ties that attach the back of Ariel's head to the spacer. After the spacer is removed, the dolls are still attached to the doll stand by wires.
I just received my second Ariel and Eric Doll set, that I ordered online last Wednesday, October 16, 2013. It is #1145 of 6000. At first look, my new set looks almost perfect, with a Ariel in a better pose, her eyelashes more even, and the collar neater than in my #12 pre-ordered set. It almost seems a shame to debox the dolls, rather leaving them as is, but I need to free them from all the packing material, so they can be posed with other dolls, and when reboxed, be able to be viewed from all angles. Photographed boxed, during deboxed, and fully deboxed using built-in camera flash.

Ariel in Zarina's full outfit. She is standing, supported by a Kaiser doll stand.
My Designer Fairytale Ariel Limited Edition 12'' Doll (part of the Ariel and Eric Doll Set) is transformed into a pirate by wearing Designer Zarina's outfit and accessories. She is sporting Zarina's fairy wings that are attached to her pirate outfit, so Ariel is also a fairy.

Deboxing the Cinderella and Prince Charming Doll Set. The covers have been removed, and the cardboard backing cut open. The dolls are then freed from the backing, but are still attached to the plastic spacer and doll stands. The backing is then cut off from the base of the display stand. Then the dolls are freed from the spacer.
The Cinderella and Prince Charming Doll Set, the third release in the 2014 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. I got Cinderella today (Tuesday Oct 7, 2014) at my local Disney Store. There were 15 people entered for 16 dolls. She is #4755 of 6000. Her curly hair is in more of an updo than the curly pony tale of the stock image. But that may be just how it was packaged, and may drop down into a ponytail when I debox her. She has exactly the same head position as the artwork and deboxed stock photo, so no Exorcist head here. Here are some preliminary photos of the set boxed, and then with the covers removed. I will be fully deboxing her in the next day or two.
