Ariel has been fully deboxed, and is placed sitting on the rock stand. Her sequins making up her tail are iridescent, so it appears to be different colors (various shades of green, blue and purple) depending on the angle of the light and angle of viewing. That is similar to how the scales of an actual fish appear. This was an unexpected feature of her tail that makes me like it much more than I did from the stock photos, or even from viewing her in person in the display dolls before I bought her and deboxed her.

I got the Ariel and Ursula Doll Set on Tuesday October 20, 2015, at my local Disney Store's raffle. I was 17th of 18 called, so I'm very glad I was able to get her in store. There was about the same amount of people who were there for the Snow/Hag set, so about 10 people missed out today. My set is #4185 of 6000. I will show this set boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I took the set I was given. I noticed that Ariel's eyelashes were not at the same angle between her two eyes, but it didn't bother me enough to ask for another set. There were no other noticeable defects in the set.

I have deboxed Ariel, and found to my surprise that the pile of rocks is totally separate from the display case, and is free standing. Ariel is supposed to free sit on the rock stand, and stay in position just by the friction of her sequined tail on the uneven surface of the top rock. It also helps if the floor of is rough (like a carpet) rather than the smooth surface that I was using for the photoshoot. Next, I was pleasantly surprised is that she has the old Designer Princess body, so rubber legs and swivel waist joint. As I expected, her hair is heavily gelled to keep her curls, but not as heavily as the 17'' LE Ariel from 2013. So only the bottom third of her curls are stiff. There were a couple of stray hairs stuck in her neck joint (ouch!) and some short hairs (like trimmings) that I had to remove from her face and chest. She is pretty, but not drop dead gorgeous as were the previous two Designer Ariel dolls (from 2011 and 2013). I also don't like her see through top. It has a rough surface, so her hairs kept on getting caught in it. Her sequined tail is pretty, but I really like her fins, which are wired to stiffen them.

I also compare Designer Ariel side by side with the OOAK Ariel made by a fellow collector, who used the 2014 Classic Ariel as the base.

Fourth release of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection is Ariel in mermaid form and Ursula in sea witch form. She sold out online a few hours after the release.

Here is a section of my wall of Designer Dolls, which compares the 2013 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Doll Sets with the corresponding 2011 Disney Princess Designer Collection Dolls. For added measure, the D23 Gold Designer Fairytale Snow White set is shown over the Designer Princess Cinderella.

My collection of the complete set of the Disney Store's Limited Edition Designer Dolls, from 2011 through 2013. They are stacked up in three rows of up to eight doll cases. I am only missing the D23 Exclusive Silver Cinderella Princess Designer Doll. I have arranged the dolls so that similar dolls from the different series are in the same column.

The top row is the most recent Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Doll Sets (2013), with the D23 Gold Snow White and the Prince the first in the row (#114 of 600). The rest of the Fairytale dolls are from the pre-order, and are all numbered 12 of 6000, except for Snow White, who is #4508 of 6000. The pre-order dolls I have not deboxed, although I have opened the cover of the Ariel and Eric set and adjusted Ariel a bit.

On the middle row is eight of the ten Disney Princess Designer Collection Dolls (2011). They have all been completely deboxed, then placed back in their display cases, with the cardboard backing and all plastic packaging removed. Pocahontas and Mulan of the collection are on the bottom row. They were bought separately, and have varying edition numbers.

Finally, the first six dolls of the bottom row are the Disney Villains Designer Collection Dolls (2012). They are all from the pre-order match set, with the same edition number of 278 of 13,000. They have not been deboxed; the cases have not even been opened.

I took some photos of the display of the DFDC doll sets at my local Disney Store today (Thursday September 1, 2016). They were put on high shelves in the same section as the Art of Belle merchandise. It wasn't very impressive, especially compared to previous years' displays. There were only four sets crammed onto a couple small shelves, the cover sleeves were missing, the promo placard was small, and there were no other merchandise. The lighting in the store wasn't the best, so some of the photos that I took had distracting reflections. Also for a few of photos I had to use flash to help illuminate darker areas and eliminate some of the reflections. The manager helped me place the sets on a lower level (on top of Classic doll boxes) so I could take photos at a better angle. I've already pre-ordered the full collection, but will also be entering the bi-weekly raffles to get the dolls in store, for deboxing.

I've taken the royal orb and scepter from the D23 Designer Coronation Elsa 12'' doll, and placed them in the hands of the 17'' Limited Edition Coronation Elsa doll. The accessories should be 50% larger to be to scale with the 17'' doll, but they look good nevertheless. The scepter was easy to secure to big Elsa's right hand. The orb was trickier. I had to use implements to thread the longer rubber band through the hole in the orb, and wrap it around Elsa's left hand. Then a smaller rubber band was wrapped around the longer rubber band, at the base of the orb, to make the attachment tight. They look a lot better on Elsa than I anticipated, so I decided to take a series of photos of Elsa holding them. She looks a lot more complete now. Perhaps I will try taking off her gloves and simulating the orb and scepter getting frosted.

Designer Fairytale Coronation Elsa 12'' Doll.

From the D23 Exclusive Elsa and Hans Coronation Doll Set.

Released and purchased on Friday August 14, 2015, D23 Expo Disney Store.

$129.95, #758 of 1023.

Part of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection.

Variant of the LE 6000 Elsa and Hans Doll Set.

The section of a local Disney Store displaying the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, on Saturday, August 24, 2013. The collection was released in stores on Monday August 19, 2013, and online last Monday, August 12, 2013. Unlike my other local store, here all of the Designer dolls were on display. They had a good supply of all the Designer mugs, which are now sold out online. They also had journals, notecards Lithograph sets and cosmetics. There was no clothing or accessories (handbags, wallets, T-shirts, etc.).

Deboxing the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. Peter Pan has been deboxed. He is free standing, with his sword in his left hand. Here he is waving "hello."

Detailed photos of the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. It was released in US Disney Stores on Tuesday October 6, 2015. I got it at my local store through the raffle. My set is #3211 of 6000. There were 18 sets available, and 3 left after the raffle.

I have now fully deboxed the set (except for Tinker Bell). I show Peter and Hook separately and together. I also place Peter and Hook back on the display stand. Hook's hat won't stay on his head, so he is without his hat in all the deboxed photos. I found that Peter has hinge jointed elbows, not ball jointed as I had thought earlier, before I deboxed him. I haven't removed the clothing of either doll, but took a peek at their lower backs, and neither has edition stamps there. The outfits of both dolls are impressive, except for Hook's hat. Hook is 12 1/4 inches tall, Peter is 10 inches tall (about the same height as the Disney Store Flutter Wing Tinker Bell dolls).

I got the flyer for the upcoming Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, from my local Disney Store this past Monday, August 15, 2016. The manager had to get it from the back for me. However, they already had a small promo placard for the collection, next to the Art of Belle merchandise. The flyer is only 4 pages as opposed to the 6 pages of previous flyers, and doesn't mention or show any merchandise except the four doll sets. It states in the back page that the dolls are to be released in stores via the raffle system, the same as has been done in the past.

I was posing Belle earlier with some props but forgot to take pictures.

I also found that the Beast's stand could turn, don't know if I did something to cause it to move or if it was already like that. Thought it would be a good opportunity to take some photos as I put them back on the stands for now until I can set some time to paint Beast's eyes.

I think making the blue more prominent could make a difference although his fur is a much deeper colour - could have been a design choice - but his eyes are such an important feature, especially to Belle!

I'll go back and recreate Belle and her props once he's sorted :)

My purchases of Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise from the first day (August 9, 2013) of the D23 Expo 2013. I was lucky enough to get a Gold D23 Exclusive Limited Edition Snow White and the Prince Designer Fairytale Doll Set. It was limited to only 600 sets, and I was told by a Cast Member that there were only about 60 left when I entered the store. I also pre-ordered the entire collection of 5 Designer Doll sets, which came with a free copy of the Limited Edition Lithograph set, which I got to take home immediately. I purchased a sampling of other items in the collection, mainly Snow White related, to go along with my Gold Snow White doll.

More photos of these items and photos from the D23 Expo itself to come shortly.

My new Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Rapunzel and Flynn Doll Set has joined the Snow White and the Prince dolls on my desk. They have been re-arranged so Flynn is not blocked from view by Rapunzel, and they are interacting with each other. I have also re-arranged the regular DFDC Snow White and the Prince dolls and the DPDC Snow White and Classic Prince so they look more like loving couples.

All dolls are deboxed, and are Disney Store limited editions (except for the Classic Prince doll).

1st row

- Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls

- Snow White and the Prince D23 Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls

- Wedding Rapunzel Limited Edition 17'' doll (from Tangled Ever After)

2nd row

- Snow White and the Prince Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls

- Snow White Limited Edition Designer Princess 11 1/2'' doll

- The Prince Classic 12'' doll (from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

- Celebration Merida Limited Edition 18'' doll (from Brave)

3rd row

- Snow White Limited Edition 17'' doll

- Cinderella Limited Edition 18'' doll

- Belle Limited Edition 17'' doll (from Beauty and the Beast)

The fully deboxed Flynn and Rapunzel are placed side by side on a counter. They are now ready to be placed back on the display stand. The sun is very low in the sky, so the last few photos have a heavy dose of flash lighting.

Finally, the remaining restraints are removed from Rapunzel, including some long rubber bands between her shoulder and arm that helped to stabilize her boxed pose. Her hands were also freed from the sleeves of her gown. Her arm holding the lantern was also moved down to her side, which took a bit of effort as her shoulder joint was put into an extreme attitude. In the process of taking off all the restraints, I accidentally undid the small bow at the top of her corset. Rapunzel is now fully deboxed.

Rapunzel is freed from the display stand, but still has various packaging restraints attached to her. First the square plastic spacer is removed from her back. Then the wire is removed from her waist. Here I discover that the purple corset around her waist is not easily removed. It is actually laced together with a purple string in the front, and doesn't have any other openings. So no Velcro closures in the back or side, unlike the other LE Rapunzel dolls with corsets. But the Wedding Rapunzel's dress does have a corset like laced back, which has to be undone before the Velcro closure can be accessed.

Rapunzel is next to be freed from the display stand. First the spacer attached to the lantern and her hand is removed. Then all the tabs attaching her gown to the base of the cardboard backing are cut off. Next, we have to remove her from the doll stand. Her skirt is raised, revealing a tulle petticoat. Below that is tissue paper wrapped around her legs. The tissue paper is removed, revealing two wires tying her legs to the post of the doll stand. We also see her flat dark purple shoes. The wires are undone, and then she is lifted from the doll stand.

Flynn is then removed from the doll stand, by undoing the wire tying him to the doll stand, and moving him out of the the spacer between him and Rapunzel, and then off the doll stand, which has a clamp around his waist. There is still a wire around his waist, and Rapunzel's crown is sewn to his belt pouch. The wire is removed without having to undo his clothing. Rapunzel's crown is detached from his pouch (by cutting a thread), and placed inside the pouch. He is now fully deboxed.

The cardboard backing is now cut off from the base of the case. This makes the further deboxing and re-boxing easier, as well making the dolls viewable from all angles (except from below). The rear spacer is then removed from Flynn. He is still wired to the doll stand, and attached to a spacer between himself and Rapunzel.

The cardboard backing has been split open by cutting along the edges with a knife. There is clear tape holding the two layers of the backing together. Inside the backing are the ends of the plastic spacers, wires and rubber bands fastening the dolls to the packaging. Then the backing is separated from the dolls by undoing the wires and tape in the back and pushing the tabs and wires through the backing. The backing is then laid flat on the counter behind the dolls. The dolls are still attached to the backing and to the doll stands.

Deboxing my Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Doll Set. First the cardboard cover sleeve is slipped off the case, to reveal the dolls behind the acrylic cover of the case. Then the acrylic cover is taken off, so the dolls are now in clear view. They are anchored to the base by the built in doll stands, and attached to the cardboard backing and plastic spaces by wires, rubber bands, thread and plastic T-tabs. Rapunzel looks lovely in her dramatic pose, gazing at the lantern held aloft in her right hand. Unfortunately, she completely blocks Flynn, who is almost directly behind her. They don't look very romantic when they aren't looking at each other, and are not touching, with a large hunk of plastic between them.

Released and purchased in store September 3, 2013

To be released online September 4, 2013

First Look

I got my Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Doll Set from my local Disney Store today, its release day, Tuesday September 3, 2013. There were only ten (10) people in the raffle for 18 doll sets, so less than the crowd for Snow White and the Prince (when there were about a dozen takers). Once again I was the first name to be called (I know, something smells fishy about that kind of luck), so I was happy to be the first to purchase my Tangled doll set. I noticed that the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection section now had the four remaining doll sets all displayed. The Snow White doll set was now gone from the display, as they are sold out. They were now restocked with mugs, and had a good supply of all five different DFDC mugs. I didn't bring my camera, so I didn't take any photos of the display.

As soon as I paid for my doll set, I took it outside, to a table in a rest area just outside the store. I took the box out of the gift bag, and saw the base and sleeve were in perfect shape. Then I carefully lifted the cover sleeve off the case, and inspected the dolls. They both looked in perfect shape. Rapunzel was even in a decent pose, with her head tilted at a normal looking angle, to gaze at the lantern. She looked as beautiful as I expected from seeing her in the promo images, and in person at the D23 Expo and my local store. What I was most impressed with was her outfit, as I never looked really close at it before, being afraid to handle the display dolls in the Expo or my local stores. While I was inspecting the dolls, several people near me asked about the dolls, and I put on my best salesman face to sell them on the dolls. They looked as though they were impressed by the look of the dolls.

I will photograph the dolls boxed, during the deboxing, and then fully deboxed. I will also compare them with other dolls in my collection.

Text of the box notes on the back of the cover sleeve:

A romantic at heart, Rapunzel is artistic, creative and full of curiosity. Spending her days painting and singing, her energy is as limitless as her hair is long. However, when the handsome thief Flynn Rider picks her mysterious and secluded tower as his hideout, the two begin a journey together that will untangle many secrets along the way.

Signature long hair romantically styled with braiding and flowers. Printed satin corset bodice with puffed velvet sleeves and lace detail. Warm illuminating lantern.

Layered gown with ornate golden detailing. Rich velvet overlay with gemstones and gold printed inset.

Suede-like vest that's belted with a satchel to hold the Princess' crown. Boots to finish his rugged look.

The four doll sets, with slipcovers on.

Photos of my preordered Designer Fairytale doll sets, that I received today. They came in a large square box weighing 20 pounds, with the individual doll sets in their own boxes. The four gift bags were in the same shipping box, tightly squeezed in the side. The carton number is 408, but the actual edition number for all four sets is 410 of 6000. All the dolls are in excellent condition, but there are small imperfections in a couple of the nameplates. These dolls I will leave untouched in mint condition, as I will debox the ones I've gotten from the store raffles.

Finally, the remaining restraints are removed from Rapunzel, including some long rubber bands between her shoulder and arm that helped to stabilize her boxed pose. D23 Elsa and Hans with the covers removed. Now the dolls are in the clear. They are attached to the cardboard backing and plastic packaging with wires, T-tabs and rubber bands.

Photos of the D23 Exclusive Designer Elsa and Hans doll set. I purchased it on its release day, Friday August 14, 2015. It is Limited Edition and cost $129.95. My set is #758 of 1023. It is part of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, but is a variant of the LE 6000 version. This D23 version has Elsa and Hans in their coronation outfits. The regular version has Elsa in her Snow Queen outfit, and Hans in his normal gray outfit, and will be released in stores and online on October 27-28, 2015.

Hans is in white, and Elsa is in teal and purple. Elsa is also holding her golden coronation orb and scepter. They are posable 12'' dolls. They are supported by built in doll stands, and inside of a display case with a golden nameplate and protected by a clear acrylic cover, with a fully illustrated slipcover over that.

Elsa is very similar to the Limited Edition Coronation Elsa 17'' Doll that was released in March 2014. One big difference is that Designer Elsa has her royal orb and scepter, and a blue jewel in her crown, that are missing from the 17'' doll.

The D23 Exclusive Gold Snow White Limited Edition Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Doll is carried in the arms of her Prince. This is just after he wakes her from the Sleeping Death by Love's First Kiss. They are supported by the Designer display stand's two built in doll stands. He carries her to their spot on my Desktop Disney Doll Display. All the current dolls in this group are limited edition and/or D23 Exclusive dolls.

All dolls are deboxed except for the long-lashed Wedding Rapunzel, who I have kept boxed. All the dolls are by the Disney Store:

1st row

- Elsa and Anna D23 11 1/2'' Dolls (from Frozen)

- Snow White and the Prince D23 Limited Edition Designer Fairytale 12'' dolls

2rd row

Designer Belle and Gaston have been deboxed. They are standing next to each other. Belle is supported by a Kaiser stand. Gaston is freestanding, and is holding Belle's book in his hand (upside down).

Detailed photos of the Belle and Gaston Doll Set, the second release of this year's Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. I got them from the store raffle on the release day of Tuesday September 20, 2016. They are #853 of 6000. As of Friday September 23, they are still available online, and in many stores.

Fairytale Designer Cinderella and Lady Tremaine have been deboxed. They are standing sided by side, supported by Kaiser stands. I decided to leave Cinderella's skirt pinned together into pleats in the front, and leave Lucifer tied to Lady Tremaine's arm by rubber bands.

Detailed photos of the Cinderella and Lady Tremaine DFDC limited edition doll set that I bought on the release day (September 6, 2016) from my local Disney Store. There were only about 10 people who entered the raffle for the 18 doll sets available. My set is numbered #2287 of 6000. I didn't see any significant flaws when I inspected the set at the register. I didn't get a gift bag when I bought the set, but returned the next day and they gave me one. The set is still available online, and in some stores as of Friday September 9.

Cinderella does have teeth in her face mold. They are painted over to give the illusion of a closed mouth. But at the angle that her head is positioned, it is hard to see the painted over teeth, and the illusion is very convincing.

Cinderella is wearing dark pink high heels with articulated ankles. She has blemish on her cheek that looks like hair product that spilled onto her face. So I was able to wash it off when I took the cover off the display case. Her hair is stiff with hair product, so I decided to leave her hair alone after deboxing, even though it looks a bit messy, and some of her hair curls around her neck.

When I deboxed Lady Tremaine, I unpinned her skirt so it's much fuller. I also unpinned her scarf so it falls freely from her head. It is sewn to her hair. I left Cindy's skirt pinned together in the front (so it looks pleated), but I may free it later.

This is my favorite set in this year's Designer Collection, and has been since I first saw images of it. Cinderella looks even more beautiful in person than in photos. I love her hair color and her face. Lady Tremaine's outfit is outstanding, and is much better than the one on the 17 inch Limited Edition Lady Tremaine from 2012.

Prince Charming and Cinderella deboxed. Lying down side by side.

The Cinderella and Prince Charming Doll Set, the third release in the 2014 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. I got Cinderella today (Tuesday Oct 7, 2014) at my local Disney Store. There were 15 people entered for 16 dolls. She is #4755 of 6000. Her curly hair is in more of an updo than the curly pony tale of the stock image. But that may be just how it was packaged, and may drop down into a ponytail when I debox her. She has exactly the same head position as the artwork and deboxed stock photo, so no Exorcist head here. Here are some preliminary photos of the set boxed, and then with the covers removed. I will be fully deboxing her in the next day or two.

Belle has been fully deboxed. Belle can free stand due to the stiffness of her full length inner skirt. But she isn't fully stable that way, so for all but the first few photos of her fully deboxed, I use a Kaiser stand to support her.

Detailed photos of the Belle and Gaston Doll Set, the second release of this year's Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise. Designer Briar Rose and Prince Phillip Set. Full View in Display Case. For some reason my photos of this set were not well focused. I still don't care for Phillip, but Briar Rose is definitely the prettiest of the Princesses in this group. I wish the center panel of her skirt matched the rest of her outfit better.

The Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise on display at my local Disney Store today. It was the release day, and they had all the merchandise in the collection displayed except for the LE Pin Set. All the items were for sale, except for the dolls, which will be released in store and online once a week starting on Tuesday September 23, 2014. The dolls were on a high shelf, and there wasn't a convenient place to put them for viewing a photographing them, so I made do with low angle shots. All the items were better looking in person than online, which is the norm for most Disney merchandise. Cinderella's head was turned around too much to look natural. But it wasn't quite as severe as in the stock photo of her in the display case, so I wouldn't call her Exorcist Head. Her head is definitely attached to a plastic form, so her head turn isn't a random thing that happened during shipping, but is by design. After seeing her in person, she is still my favorite of the Princesses in this release, and her dress looks great both front and back. I bought journals and the Lithograph Set, of which I will post photos shortly. The store wasn't very busy (at noon time), but everyone that looked at the Designer Collection seemed to be impressed.

Here are the release dates of the doll sets (in North America):

Sept 2, 2014. Pre-order complete collection.

Sept 23. Tiana & Prince Naveen. (Online Sep 24)

Sept 30. Pocahontas & John Smith (Online Oct 1)

Oct. 7. Cinderella & Prince Charming (Online Oct 8)

Oct. 14. Mulan & Li Shang. (Online Oct 15)

Oct 21. Aurora & Prince Phillip. (Online Oct 22).

Quick photos of Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. They were taken outside of the Disney Store right after I purchased them. Boxed doll with slipcover off. Midrange front view. Focused on Captain Hook.

I stopped by my local Disney Store during my lunch break, to enter the raffle for the Peter Pan and Captain Hook Doll Set. I was about the tenth one picked. It turns out that there were 18 sets available, and 3 left after the raffle.

I went to the checkout line with the other raffle winners. In contrast to last week, when they only had one register for the raffle winners, today they had three registers going, which made for a much quicker and less stressful checkout. They allowed all people to inspect the dolls before they bagged them. Mine looked good, without any noticeable defects. Tinker Bell looked like a giant gnat, hanging from the front left corner. My set was #3211 of 6000.

Afterwards, I went to a table outside the store and took a few photos before going back to work. I will take more detailed photos and post them here later tonight.

The mugs and journals from the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, except for the ones for Peter Pan. I bought all of these on the first day of the D23 Expo 2015, on Friday August 14. The mugs and journals are all $16.95 each. The mugs have a simplified design, with straight sides (like tumblers with handles). As before, there is a full length image on one side, and a midrange image on the other. The journals have a wrap around extension of their back covers, with a magnetic closure in the front, which repeats the image of the character on the right side of the front cover. There is also a metal dangle to the satin bookmark, with an icon representing the hero or heroine. They are very nice designs.

From left to right:

Snow White and the Witch (Old Hag)

Elsa and Hans (in their Snow Queen and gray outfits)

Rapunzel and Mother Gothel

Ariel and Ursula (in their Mermaid and Sea Witch forms)

Just picked up a Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

People will know how much I love the Rapunzel DS sculpt it bordered on an obsession 2011-2012.

This has to be the last one for my collection - I wonder how she looks?

I've removed the outer slip, the artwork is really nice but most of all I'm looking forward to seeing how she turned out...

A romantic at heart, Rapunzel is artistic, creative and full of curiosity. Spending her days painting and singing, her energy is as limitless as her hair is long. However, when the handsome thief Flynn Rider picks hers mysterious and secluded tower as his hideout, the two begin a journey together that will untangled many secrets along the way.

Signature long hair romantically styled with braiding and flowers. Printed satin corset bodice with puffed velvet sleeves. Warm illuminating lantern. (does it glow in the dark?!)

Layered gown with ornate golden detailing. Rich velvet overlay with gemstones and gold printed inset.

Suede-like vest that's belted with a satchel to hold the Princess' crown. Boots to finish his rugged look.

From DS Europe.

Disney Fairytale Designer Collection merchandise. Designer Mulan and Li Shang Set in Display Case. They look very comfortable together. Really heartwarming.

First register (where my items are being checked out and bagged). Behind are the stacks of FF LE and Designer dolls. To the right of them are the Peter Pan tsums.

Got to my local Disney Store at 6:00 am and got inside right away. I was first in line. I fellow collector joined me a couple of minutes later. There were six waiting in line at 7 am, 25 at 8 am, 40 at 9 am, probably 50 at 10 am.

The store had 16 each of Limited Edition Frozen Fever Anna and Elsa 17'' dolls, and 18 of the DFDC Anna and Kristoff 12'' doll set. They told us the totals of the limited edition dolls when they gave out the line cards at about 9:40 am. There were two Anna/Kristoff sets left over at store opening at 10 am. It was also release day for the 10 Peter Pan mini tsum tsums, and the FF mini tsum tsum set (in an Olaf carrying case). It turned out that about 2 thirds of the people just wanted the tsum tsums. After the opening ceremony, we were divided into two lines. One was just for tsums. and the other was for the LE or Designer dolls (we could also get tsums). They had the Peter Pan tsums behind the counter, but the FF tsums were on the wall display to the right of the registers. I got the three dolls, all the Peter Pan tsums, and the FF tsum set.

Snow White and her Prince have now been fully deboxed. They are posed standing, supported by the built-in doll stands in the base of the display case.

This regular version of the Snow White and the Prince Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Doll Set has the same two base dolls as the D23 special edition dolls that I reviewed earlier. That is the dolls themselves are identical in every way (except for the serial numbers on the back of the Prince dolls). They also have outfits of almost identical designs, but made of different materials and with differing colors. So the dolls have different looks, especially the Snow Whites.

Snow White has the body of a 2012 Disney Store Classic Princess doll. That is, she has hard plastic legs, with hinged knee joints and ball jointed ankles. She is missing the usual manufacturer's marks printed on Disney limited edition dolls, including the part number and her edition size and serial number. She is also missing the twist waist joint of the previous Designer Princess and Designer Villain dolls. She has a pale complexion, the same as the 2012 Snow White, with whom she shares the same body. However, her neck joint has more freedom of movement, especially downward, and her painted on panties are deep golden yellow, much darker than the 2012 Snow White.

Her face mold appears to be the same as the 2012 and 2013 Classic Snow White, but with a considerably different face paint than either of them. She has large dark brown eyes that are glancing to her left, with four short thick lashes over each eye and four very short and thin lashes under each eye. Over her eyes is gold eyeshadow, and thin black eyebrows gently following the curve of her eyes. She also had short rooted eyelashes that are just barely curving upwards, and are even in length. She has a small button nose, a small mouth with blood red lips forming a charming open mouth smile. She has light pink rouge over most of her cheeks, and a round face with small chin. She is a very beautiful and faithful representation of the sweet and charming movie character.

Her hair is a considerable departure from the traditional short flip hairdo. Her jet black hair is parted to the left of her head, and pulled tightly over her head into a medium length braided ponytail that tapers down to a point and is secured by black rubberband, and is sewn to her collar on her right side. There is a small amount of hair product applied just above her forehead, to a thin strip of her hair. In my doll, that strip keeps on separating from the rest of her hair. I haven't been able to integrate it with the rest of her hair; perhaps I will have to apply more hair product to keep it place. There is a thin bright red satin ribbon around the top of her head that ends in a small bow at left side of her head.

Her outfit is a take on her traditional Princess gown. Her bodice and skirt are separate pieces. The bodice is dark blue velvet with gold piping and elaborate gold embroidery, and decorated with a bow made of metallic gold thread. The floral design is similar to the D23 doll, but differs in its details. She has puffy sleeves of the same dark blue velvet, with separate ribbons of bright red satin that float over the velvet. The sleeves have black lace cuffs decorated with gold hearts, and the oversized collar is pure white lace folded in a fan-like manner behind her neck and head. Her skirt is dark golden taffeta with gold embroidering incorporating fleur-de-lis, flowers and hearts. The embroidery in the skirt is identical to that of the D23 doll. The taffeta gives the skirt has a wrinkled, antique appearance. It has a thin pale tan satin lining. There are golden rhinestones scattered throughout the bodice and skirt of her dress. Under her dress is a floor length white satin slip with the lacey pattern at the hem showing below her skirt. It is sewn to her skirt at two spots at the hem, which I chose to leave alone for now. It is also sewn to the waist band of the skirt, so it is a permanent part of the skirt. She is wearing golden tan flat shoes (or slippers), the same as the D23 doll. It is a beautifully designed and beautifully made outfit that is a darker and more ornated version of the Princess outfit of the movie character.

The Prince appears to have the standard Disney Store Prince body, with articulation at the neck, shoulders, hinge jointed elbows, ball jointed hips, and internal knee joints with limited movement. His hands and feet are large, but his head is disproportionately small compared to Snow White. His face has a neutral expression, with small, narrow deep blue eyes, wide mouth and a straight nose. His molded dark brown hair looks okay. His face doesn't look that movie accurate to me; I actually prefer the playline Classic Prince. As with all Disney Prince dolls, he is sturdily built, and can free stand fairly stably. But for safe keeping, it is best to put him up in the included doll stand, which has a wide C-clamp that goes around his waist very snuggly.

The Prince's outfit is very well made and fitted to his body. It consists of a dark blue faux leather vest, a bright red velvet and satin cape with gold piping permanently attached at the shoulders of the vest, a dark blue faux leather belt with a gold metal buckle and a short black faux leather scabbard attached, white satin shirt, black pants and black boots with a worn look and creases. In the scabbard is a steel gray sword with a brown handle. The sword is thin and very flexible. It was slightly bent out of the box, but was easily bent back into shape. The D23 Prince's vest is much thicker, and feels much more like real leather than this Prince doll. But this Prince has an outfit that is much closer in color to the movie character. He looks great in his outfit, and very dashing, but I wish his expression had more emotion, and was more cheerful.

Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Dolls - Group Photo

I cropped the original square photo to a 4:3 aspect ratio, as there was a lot of dead space above and below the dolls. So now the dolls are larger in the photo, and it works better as a screen saver/desktop background.

Anna and Kristoff Doll Set with the slipcover off.

My initial photos of the Frozen limited edition dolls that I got at their release day (Tuesday November 3) at my local Disney Store. I also got the Peter Pan tsum tsums, the Frozen Fever mini tsums (in Olaf carrying case), and my pre-ordered Inside Out Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. There was a coupon that came with the pre-order voucher card, that took $10 off a purchase of $40 or more, which came in handy today.

I also show a boxed FF Elsa next to deboxed SQ Elsa to do a quick comparison of the two limited edition 17'' dolls.

All photos were taken in indirect natural light.

Snow White and the Prince - Limited Edition Doll Set

Disney Fairytale Designer Collection

$129.95 US

US Disney Store

Released and purchased in store on August 20, 2013.

First Look

There were 18 Snow White doll sets at the store, and only about a dozen people who entered the raffle for the chance to buy them. So from the get go, I knew I was sure to leave with the dolls. There was one lady in the group that I remembered from the Designer Villain raffles, and we caught up on how our doll collections were growing. Also another person waiting for the dolls said she actually got the Designer Pin Set in her cart, and purchased them, but got an ''I'm sorry'' email later saying that the item was sold out, and they were refunding her money.

At about 1:07 pm, they called out 5 names at a time to purchase the dolls. My name was actually called out first. Then we were marched into the store to buy the dolls. The store only had the Snow White dolls set on display behind the counter, and none of the other dolls on display at all. The main Fairytale Designer Collection display was unchanged, except that the Ariel mugs were now sold out. So I decided not to take any photos inside the store, since there was no real changes, and I couldn't take any closeups of the Snow White set on display.

Just after purchasing the dolls, I set them down at a table outside the Disney Store. Then I took a peek at the dolls to make sure there were no defects, before leaving with them. I first took the box out of the Designer Fairytale Gift Bag. Then I took the sleeve off the box, to reveal the dolls inside of a clear acrylic display case, with a gold base and nameplate. The case and dolls looked perfect to me. The serial number is #558 of 6000.

Ariel and Eric Doll Set

Disney Fairytale Designer Collection

US Disney Store Product Image

In Store Release: October 15, 2013

Online Release: October 16, 2013

Ariel and Eric are now both fully deboxed. They are laid down side by side. Then they are placed standing, up against a wall for support. Finally, the display stand is cleaned up of remaining packaging material, and Ariel and Eric are placed back on the display stand, but in a more intimate pose than the original factory pose.

Ariel is next to be removed from the display stand. She is still tied to the doll stand, and her dress still tacked to the base of the stand. There was also tissue paper wrapped around her legs under her skirt. There was a tie in the back of her skirt that when cut made the skirt fuller. Her hair was in two sections in the factory packaging, but the gap was easily shaken out. There was hair product to set the curls, but her hair was still fairly soft, especially in the straighter parts. She is wearing dark blue flats, matching the color of her skirt. Her outfit was in four pieces: her blue satin skirt with gold embroidery and jewels, her corset-like blue velvet bodice also with gold embroidery and jewels, her white tulle petticoat, and her satin long sleeved blouse with lacy collar and cuffs. She has no edition number stampings, unlike Eric, but like the other Princesses in this series. She is removed from the doll stand, and laid down to partially undress her, to see the construction of her outfit, and to inspect her lower back for markings. Then her blouse and skirt are closed up, and then her bodice is put back on. She is now fully deboxed.

Eric is the first to be removed from the display stand. He is place on a counter to inspect his outfit, and partially disassemble it. First, his sash and belt are sewn together, so I cut the stitching (except for one), so I could remove it. The belt has a Velcro closure, but the sash is just tied together with the loose ends hanging like a men's tie. The belt and sash are removed, and his shirt and pants are partly opened to show his back. On his lower back is stamped his edition number and size: #1145 of 6000. He has dark blue painted on underpants, matching the color of his pants. His rolled up sleeves are sewn in that position, and has considerable fraying from the inside of the cuffs. It should be easy to free the cuffs, and roll down the sleeves. However, they don't look like they are full length, and would stop short of his wrists. His shirt and pants are then closed up. His sash and belt are placed next to him. Then his sash and belt are put back on. I had considerable difficulty redoing the sash tie so the ends would hang as nicely as before.

Deboxing my Limited Edition Ariel and Eric Doll Set, #1145 of 6000. They are in their display case, with the clear acrylic cover removed. They are attached to the cardboard backing and plastic spacer, and also supported by the built in doll stands. Then the backing is opened by cutting the tape holding the sides together.

Then the dolls are removed from the backing, but are still attached to the plastic spacer, and to the doll stand. Ariel's skirt is also tacked to the cardboard at the base of the stand. Next the backing is cut off from the base, so that we are able to view the dolls from all angles. The backing stored with the acrylic cover. Then the spacer is removed from the dolls. It is necessary to cut the plastic ties that attach the back of Ariel's head to the spacer. After the spacer is removed, the dolls are still attached to the doll stand by wires.

I just received my second Ariel and Eric Doll set, that I ordered online last Wednesday, October 16, 2013. It is #1145 of 6000. At first look, my new set looks almost perfect, with a Ariel in a better pose, her eyelashes more even, and the collar neater than in my #12 pre-ordered set. It almost seems a shame to debox the dolls, rather leaving them as is, but I need to free them from all the packing material, so they can be posed with other dolls, and when reboxed, be able to be viewed from all angles. Photographed boxed, during deboxed, and fully deboxed using built-in camera flash.

The Aurora and Maleficent Doll has been fully deboxed. Aurora is standing next to Maleficent, each of them supported Kaiser stands. Aurora has her arms by her sides. Maleficent has her arms stretched out to her sides, is holding her staff and Diablo is resting on her arm.

Here are detailed photos of the Aurora and Maleficent Doll Set. This is the fourth and last release of the 2016 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. It is #1335 of 6000.

I got it in my local Disney Store's raffle at lunch time, on release day, Tuesday October 18, 2016. About 8-10 people showed up for the raffle, for 18 doll sets. So about the same number of people for each of the releases in this series. I saw three sets before I was satisfied with mine, mainly due to Aurora's curly bang not laying right against her forehead, and/or too many stray hairs.

Deboxing the Tiana and Naveen doll set. First its protective cover sleeve taken off. Then the acrylic top cover of the display case is removed. It is loosened from the tabs on the bottom of the case, then slowly slid off the cardboard backing. The dolls are now in clear view. They are attached to the backing and various plastic spacers.

I purchased the Tiana and Naveen Disney Fairytale Designer Doll Set at my local Disney Store, on its release day, Tuesday September 23, 2014. There were only five persons entered in the drawing, and the store had 15 sets to sell. I got my set and opened it up at the register to make sure everything looked good. They looked perfect to me. I took a quick photo, with permission from the CM. In better lighting, the gold embroidery in her dress was much more impressive than I remembered it from looking at the display dolls. I also looked at the back, and it was #4872 of 6000. That was a nice number to me, so I declined the offer from the CM to look at another set to see if it had a lower number. I will photograph the set boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I will also show the set next to other comparable dolls.

Cinderella by Mattel

Cinderella's dress from Disney World

Lady Tremaine & Lucifer from the Disney Store

Alice and the Queen of Hearts have been deboxed and are standing next to each other. The Queen is free standing, Alice is supported by a modified Kaiser stand. Here they are interacting, in poses similar to the designer artwork.

Alice is 10 inches tall, with a head and body made specially for her. She has a body construction similar to that of the older Disney Designer Princess dolls, but without the swivel waist. She has rubber legs with click stop internal knee joints, fixed ankles. She has fully articulated arms and a ball jointed neck. Some of her arm joints are a little too loose and sometimes didn't keep a pose. She has a blue satin dress with a printed darker blue floral pattern. She has a separate white satin apron with a large white bow in the back. There is a colorful embroidered floral pattern in the front that is embellished with yellow gems, and it has a lace hem. She has a delicate tulle petticoat with a lace hem. She is wearing white tights, and black shoes with low heels and a strap around the ankles. She has a lovely face with big blue eyes, curvy eyelashes and a closed mouth smile with red lips. She has golden blonde hair, with the curly parts stiff with hair product. Wrapped around her head is her signature black satin ribbon and bow.

The Queen of Hearts has a stuffed cloth torso, but the rest of her body is vinyl. She is 11 1/2 inches tall free standing, but when posed in the display case she is 12 1/2 inches tall. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hips. Her neck joint is very stiff, but her head does turn with a bit of effort, similar to my experience with Fairytale Designer Ursula. Her articulation is similar to that of Fairytale Designer Ursula, who also has a plush torso, but is limited compared to other female Designer dolls. She is wearing high heeled red shoes, but they are molded to her feet, so are not removable. She can free stand fairly stably, with the help of her stiff full length outer skirt or robe. I decided to leave her robe tacked to her inner skirt in the front, so it would stay closed.

I bought the Alice and Queen of Hearts Doll Set at my local Disney Store on release day, October 4, 2016. It is numbered 0989 of 6000. I was called fifth out of ten persons who entered the raffle for 18 doll sets. They called names to determine the order in which we would go to the registers. The Designer doll display was moved from the floor to behind the counter. They still had Cinderella and Lady Tremaine doll sets available. I inspected the first set that was handed to me. Alice had slightly irregular eyelashes, but not enough to bother me. I didn't notice any other defects, so I took the set. I didn't bring my camera, so I didn't take any photos in the store.

Here are photos of the set boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed.

I think Alice is a very beautiful doll, and I'm glad Disney finally made a Designer Alice. The most surprising thing I noticed about Alice are her shoes, which are very realistic looking. I like the Designer Queen of Hearts' crown, but it is nowhere as realistic looking as the crown on the LE 17'' Queen of Hearts.

#0989 of 6000

Here Designer Zarina is boxed, with the slip cover and acrylic cover off. She is now in the clear. She is secured to the factory packaging by wires, thread, rubber bands and plastic T-tabs. Photographed in daylight.

First look at my Zarina Limited Edition Designer Doll. My Zarina is 0137 of 4000. There were no designer bags, as there were in the previous Designer doll collections.

My visit to my local Disney Store on Februay 18, 2014. I was there for the release of the Disney Fairies Designer Collection dolls. I also noticed that they had several items in the Frozen section that had been missing for several weeks, especially the mugs and Classic Anna dolls, but no Elsas.

They had eight of each Designer Fairy doll, Tinker Bell and Zarina. There were about that many people waiting in line before the store opened, waiting to buy them. I didn't do an actual count, but no one left the line when it was announced how many dolls there were, so there were probably seven or eight of them in the line. They had no designer bags, so they just put them in regular Disney Store bags.

I inspected my dolls, and they looked in perfect condition. I was surprised by their shiny pearly skin (similar in texture to LE Ursula and Harrods Elsa), but they looked very beautiful. The artwork on the boxes were also very beautiful, but the backgrounds behind the dolls were plain looking. The CM had to help me take off the slip cover of the Zarina doll, as it was very tight. She said all the Zarinas seemed to be that way.

Below is information from the UK Disney Store website, as the dolls are not yet available online in the US site.

My Snow White and the Hag Doll Set, set up on a table outside of the Disney Store. Doll set uncovered. Left Front View.

Here are my photos of the release of the Snow White and the Hag Doll Set at my local Disney Store this afternoon. I put my raffle ticket in at 12:30 pm, got a take out lunch, and returned for the drawing of the winners shortly before 1 pm. I was called first, and for some reason this time the manager called me by my full name, which I had to pronounce for her. LOL.

As soon as I was called, I went to the one register that was handling the doll release. At first the CM was going to put the doll in the shopping bag without asking if I wanted to inspect the dolls. I had to ask him myself, and he agreed, but he said that they inspect all the dolls beforehand. Then I asked if I could take photos of my doll at the counter. He said no, that he had to keep the line moving, but I was free to take photos after paying for it. So I felt a bit rushed and did a cursory inspection. Snow's hair was a bit messy, but there were no major defects, so I put the cover back on, and paid for the doll. She is #2595 of 6000.

After I paid for the doll, I walked to a nearby rest area in the mall to take photos. There was a large table and couches and chairs there. I took a few photos, and I noticed that Snow's pose wasn't all that elegant. Her head was pointing up too much, so neither her nor the Hag were looking at anything in particular. I also noticed that her left lashes (on our right) were a bit messy, but nothing too bad.

I will debox her and of course attempt to fix her hair and pose. I will post full set of photos

of the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed shortly.

The red corner: Captain Ariel tries to encourage Merida in joining her crew.

My pre-ordered Snow White and Hag Doll Set. The slipcover has been removed to reveal the dolls in their display case.

My pre-ordered full set of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Heroes and Villains dolls arrived after a delay on November 6, 2015. I had ordered them at the D23 Expo on August 14, 2015. They are all edition number of 65 of 6000. They came in perfect condition, and I think most if not all the dolls are better than the ones I bought separately (which I have deboxed or will debox). By the way, I got 5 gift bags in this shipment, and got another 5 in a separate shipment. So like most people who pre-ordered the full collection, I am getting twice as many bags as I should have.

Here are my first photos of the set, taken with flash. They were taken in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion. I will later take photos of my deboxed Designer dolls next to these dolls, which I will leave boxed. But before I do that I will have to debox the Rapunzel and Mother Gothel set and the Snow Queen Elsa and Hans set.
