The images are marginal with limited depth of field rendering near and far sections in somewhat better focus and definition left and right. Image selection was deliberate. In 3D cross-view the brain doesn't average images for sharpness, but selects the parts more in focus to compile a primary image that is normally formed by the dominant eye, and uses less focussed parts to construct the 3D effect. The image processing is remarkable. In 3D cross-view if you have 20/20 vision in both eyes I expect you to see the fly more or less all in focus (as much as it is) and notice the antennae, small, low down between the eyes and the hairs in the central back region in place. I do apologize for selecting poor images to make a point. I will post another cross pair later today with the LHS in focus and the RHS blurred as a simple example of the same effect.
When we use our eyes normally the brain selects the image that's in sharper focus, the so called dominant eye (which is often the right eye) and uses the other image for 3D construction. For that reason, some older people ask for laser surgery to make one eye normal for long sight and the other short sited. The brain then constructs clear vision for both reading and driving without the need for internal lens correction.

this is the second of the two designs for kytes in last year's "original thinking" class at my visual communications school.
the brief was to design kytes that were designated to be flown all along israel and palestine, as a symbol of dicssion between the two nations.
i chose to make symbols, rather than a designed poster on this subject, because i felt that these icons will be seen on a flying kyte only if they are catchy.
in this symbol i was inspired by the "Shamir Bros" illustration for early israely milk advert. i turned the old milk glass from the advert, into a "plastic cup" with a string attached, symbolizing a symple yet coherant communication method used by kids.
