A visit to my local Reservoir in Oxfordshire in August.
The water levels at Farmoor were at the lowest that I've ever seen.
A Great Crested Grebe fishing on F1 Reservoir by the blue water fill pipe. When the pipe was discharging water into the reservoir the Grebe was catching fish and worm/eel things. When the pipe stopped the Grebe swam off.
The blue pipe is drawing water from the filtration ponds on the North side of the Reservoirs.
DB Cargo’s 1015 Immingham – Drax biomass hoppers, headed by 66024 has been discharged at Drax power station on 2 November 2018.

I calanchi, geomorficamente, sono definiti come il risultato dell’erosione del terreno che si produce per l’effetto di dilavamento delle acque su rocce argillose degradate, con scarsa copertura vegetale e quindi poco protette dal ruscellamento. Non semplice da comprendere e ancor meno lo è pensare a un’immagine di questo fenomeno.
Quel che è certo è che trovarsi davanti ai calanchi lascia senza fiato.

Geomorphic soils are defined as the result of soil erosion that is produced by the effect of water discharges on degraded clay rocks, with poor vegetation coverage and therefore poorly protected from rotting. It is not easy to understand, and even less, it is to think of an image of this phenomenon.
What is certain is that being in front of the calanchas leaves breathless.

Wow, we really had crazy clouds and even some lightning at the Paul’s Junkyard Workshop last weekend! It was an exceptionally surreal trip this time. I’m still processing my pix, but here’s one to get you started.
3-minute exposure with the full moon behind the clouds most of the time. The lack of moonlight meant I had to add my own light. This was four red and three blue 1/4 power strobe pops. I doubled up on the lightning, compositing in a couple of extra bolts from a second exposure. Why does the lightning almost always seem to happen right after you close the lens?

I made a quick surgical strike over to the LS&I Wednesday to shoot the aftermath of a large derailment they had on October 30. A 3 Dock/Hill job loaded with chips and fines from Tilden derailed just east of Queens. Twenty-two cars were involved with eight ending up significantly derailed (photo). The main reason I went over is that this derailment resulted in a detour over CN and Cooke's Branch via West Wye - a rare opportunity to shoot LS&I moves on those rails.
An SY locomotive pulls back a rake of empty hopers having discharged another load of mine spoil into a former open cast giant pit. The stacks and cooling towers of Fuxin power station dominate the background.
Shisen-dō (詩仙堂) is a Buddhist temple of the Sōtō Zen sect in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is registered as a historic site of Japan. It stands on the grounds of its founder, the Edo period intellectual Ishikawa Jōzan (1583–1672), who established the temple in 1641.
A room in the main temple displays portraits of thirty-six Chinese poets. The selection of the poets was based on the opinion of Hayashi Razan. The portraits were executed by Kanō Tan'yū. This and some other parts of the building date to the time of Ishikawa Jōzan.
The temple's gardens are considered masterworks of Japanese gardens.[1] One of them includes a device called a sōzu, a type of shishi-odoshi designed to scare away wild animals such as deer by making a loud noise. Water trickles into a bamboo tube, and when it reaches a certain level, it upsets the balance of the tube. The tube tips over on a pivot, discharging the water, and turns upright, striking a rock and emitting a loud clapping noise.

The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel (Japanese: 首都圏外郭放水路, romanized: shutoken gaikaku hōsuiro), is an underground water infrastructure project in Kasukabe, Saitama, Japan. It is the world's largest underground flood water diversion facility, built to mitigate overflowing of the city's major waterways and rivers during rain and typhoon seasons. It is located between Showa in Tokyo and Kasukabe in Saitama prefecture, on the outskirts of the city of Tokyo in the Greater Tokyo Area, Japan.
Work on the project started in 1992 and was completed by early 2006. It consists of five concrete containment silos with heights of 65 m and diameters of 32 m, connected by 6.4 km of tunnels, 50 m beneath the surface, as well as a large water tank with a height of 25.4 m, with a length of 177m, with a width of 78m, and with 59 massive pillars connected to 78 10 MW (13,000 hp) pumps that can pump up to 200 tons of water into the Edo River per second.

A few weeks ago, we went on a storm chasing trip and came upon a thunderstorm that was very intense and dramatic. I got out of the car, ran to an open field and quickly snapped several long exposure shots. This was the last image I took as the lightning struck right above me.
