Discharged seed pods of Dog Strangling Vine (Cynanchum rossicum) in winter.
Native to Southern Europe, Dog Strangling Vine is a highly invasive plant in parts of North America . Although it is not known to strangle dogs, its thick mats of vegetation choke out native herbaceous plants and trees and threaten forest ecosystems.

Water is discharged from hydropower dams during torrential rains continuing in many days. Many houses at downstream are deeply submerged. Crop plants may be ruined.

Most of the time we see negative lightning, which originated both on the ground and in the lower, and more negatively charged, portion of the cloud.
Once the ionization process begins and plasma forms, a path is not created instantaneously. In fact, there are usually many separate paths of ionized air stemming from the cloud. These paths are typically referred to as stepped leaders.
The stepped leaders are mostly invisible, except to incredibly high speed cameras — they branch towards the ground unbelievably quickly — about 164 feet (50 meters) per microsecond!

A moment after this composite image occurred, this is what followed (after lightning contact with ground): www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/52257025974/in/photost.... This post ground discharge was easily 1000x brighter than the pre-discharge above.
At least 100 frames were stacked and lightened in Photoshop. GoPro 10 at 240 fps in wide field (130 degs) was used.
A shower, a cup of tea and I'm in heaven!!! Of course, I have instructions to make the rounds of various physicians and my new meds are horse pills....BUT I AM OUT!!!! 😁 I want to thank each and every one of my dear friends on Flickr who offered words of encouragement and support. You can't imagine how much it meant to me!
The Self Discharging Bulk Carrier YEOMAN BANK is a real old-timer. The ship was built in 1982, making it 42 years old, which is quite unusual for a cargo ship. Most freighters are scrapped after 20 to 25 years.
The vessel arrived in Bremen with a load of 40000 Tons split from Glensanda, Scotland.
Thanks for your visit & feedback. :))

The Upper Geyser Basin is famous for hosting Old Faithful Geyser. But there is much more in the area than just this famous geyser. The Upper Geyser Basin also boasts the largest concentration of geysers in the world, including many of the worlds largest geysers.
A geyser is a spring characterized by intermittent discharge of water ejected turbulently and accompanied by steam. As a fairly rare phenomenon, the formation of geysers is due to particular hydrogeological conditions that exist only in a few places on Earth. Generally all geyser field sites are located near active volcanic areas, and the geyser effect is due to the proximity of magma.
Generally, surface water works its way down to an average depth of around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) where it contacts hot rocks. The resultant boiling of the pressurized water results in the geyser effect of hot water and steam spraying out of the geyser's surface vent (a hydrothermal explosion). - Wikipedia

60083 ‘Shining Tor’ trundles west past Washwood Heath with one of Redland’ Self-Discharge Trains (SDT), probably returning empty as 6m31, the 0931 from Banbury to Mountsorrel.
In this time of the shadow freight companies, 60083 was operated by Mainline Freight. Beginning in June 1994, Mainline operated contracts originating geographically from the East Midlands and the South East, including traffic from the loading point at Mountsorrel in Leicestershire.
60083 had been in service for just over 3 years when I captured it here. Having been delivered in Railfreight Construction livery, by late 1994 it had lost its subsector markings ahead of carrying Mainline Freight branding.
The self-discharge train was introduced by Redland Aggregates in 1988 as an innovative solution for delivering aggregates to terminals with minimal facilities. The conventional appearance of the wagons hid a conveyor belt that ran under the length of the train. The stone was then moved onto a further conveyor on a specialist wagon fitted with a rotating boom, allowing direct loading into stockpiles.
The self-discharge trains ceased operating in 2016 after an accident: in June 2016 the rotating boom of one train stabled at Mountsorrel fouled the running line and hit a passenger train. The trains were subsequently stored and broken up in 2017.
