She had disappeared out of view behind a bramble bush before she quickly reappeared, flying up & away. I just managed to get this in the right hand side of the frame.

An empty cot in an abandoned house. A little scary overall.

Findhorn Valley, Cairngorms, Scotland

Thanks to our brilliant guide, Mark Hamblin, we found some hares soon after reaching the lower slopes and spent a very pleasurable few hours sitting in the snow enjoying their company. At times, the sunshine broke through and bathed the whole mountainside in a wonderful light and then disappeared, but through it all the hares sat in their forms, almost motionless. Although I had really hoped to see these beautiful animals, I really didn't expect to have the privilege to spend so long observing and photographing them. Definitely the highlight of our trip - thanks Mark!

Kerlingafjöll has a mysterious atmosphere - especially when there is nobody else around. The hikers at the bridge were the only ones to creep around the valleys so late and after a while even they disappeared. Where to? I don't know...

Across farming countryside, scenes like this abandoned farm house, are rapidly disappearing. The familiar sounds of long ago of small feet pattering across linoleum floors, the creaking of a screen door, the scrape of a rocking chair on the porch and the choir of crickets and frogs at night are now only heard by those who sit quietly and listen for the sounds of memories.

our dear, sad cat arrived at us wounded ,the more an more often. He is not alive, surely .He cud not to fail seeing his friend Rex but now Rex is alone and the child of our Kiki disappeared.

film. black and white just makes me so sad hahaha.

After watching a couple of roe deer disappear into the woods, I was about to turn around and leave, when I raised my head ever so slightly. Suddenly, a squirrel was sitting on a branch right in front of me, just going about its business with a tasty pine cone.

The Porlock oyster beds disappear below the waves after a low Spring tide had revealed them

The morning storm clouds come in from the south; drop a bucket of water then soon disappear out to sea, leaving a warm sultry day.

Lake Wairarapa on a good day??

Apparently this lake is really shallow and when the wind blows the wave action stirs up the sediment on the bottom which is phosphorus laden hence the unusual colour.

Struck it a bit lucky with the wave cloud running parallel with the old jetty foundations.

The UW Arboretum in Madison, WI is an incredible nature spot in the middle of the city. When there it is almost as if the city disappears.

Happy Saturday for Stairs!

The three foot fence surrounding my vegetable garden is disappearing under this winter's load of snow. Unusual for us, average for this time of year in my area is 18" (45cm), and we still have several months of winter to go.

Recently I became very fascinated by digital pinhole photography. This image was created with a modified pinhole body cap. I think I’m drawn to this type of photography because I feel it relates to my life and it seems to teach me far beyond photography. There are strict limitations that can drastically alter how images are captured and the final outcome of the photos, there is a lack of clarity compared to how I normally capture images with a lens, it’s difficult to predict exactly how the image will look and beauty and meaning can be found in the process and the final photo. It gives me a chance to practice embracing the unfamiliar, change, finding beauty in imperfection and growing in new ways.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account

I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:

These are the newest members of my frog family. The snow is artificial although we surprisingly even had some real snow this morning. It has disappeared in the meantime and it's raining again.

I love these old red barns but as more and more farmers have left dairy and the farms are consolidating, these are rapidily disappearing.

Millennium Beacon, Lepe foreshore, New Forest Hampshire.

There are cliffs and sea down there somewhere!! If you look carefully you can just make out some sparkling water under it's wooly blanket, and the cliffs are lurking there as well, trying to hide! It had to be Disappearing by War on Drugs, as that's what kept happening to the view!!

These little guys kept disappearing in the waves. Mom frantically trying to keep track as they wandered off . Occasionally they were dive-bombed by some passing seagulls for sport - drove mum a little nuts although if it were an eagle swooping there was not much she could have done about it. And there are eagles in this section of the lake.

To get this shot I had to get past three sunbathing beauties in bikinis but such is the price one has to pay to get flickr photos.

Lanthorn Tower

Tower of London

London, England, U.K.

03-20-25

From the Wonders of the World site: "The Lanthorn tower was built between 1238 and 1272. It was commissioned by Henry III. It is one of the many towers that were built at that time, towers serving as defense to the white tower that was given a rampart. The Lanthorn Tower served as a royal apartment for the Queen, while the King was at the Wakefield Tower."

There are 23 "named" towers in the Tower of London. I caught this one as I exited the complex. The 21st century Shard Tower can be seen in the distance.

One thing that really impresses me as I tour the historical sites of England and other places I've visited around the world is that although modern technology creates some amazing wonders, they sometime break down and disappear, yet the wonders that have survived history all seem to have been built back in a time when there was mainly only manual labor and less "technological" means of building things.
